Being a Uber driver sucks all the way Uber is the worst company ever they show no respect or care about the drivers if a customer makes a false complaint they listen to the customer lies and disconnect the driver from the platform you’re virtually on your own and useless Uber will never ever back up the driver only the customer the customer can do no wrong lies and everything else
Look where it happened. There are millions of cases like this so it becomes impossible anyway, all they did was reopen the case, a difference in detail written on a piece of paper. Doesn't mean they will pursue it. They only closed it in the first place to fudge the statistic numbers, like they do with everything else. We should just disregard New York and everything that happens in it as a relevant place, it's a dump and in it is trash, any sensible people shouldn't be there.

He had a perfect video of the suspect. Her actions were recorded. If they could not have traced her true identity through the Lyft app, they could have released this video to the public for assistance.

In my honest opinion, may be because the driver (a.k.a the victim) is kind of "darker" skin, and by looking at his name, most likely he is an immigrant, and like rubbing salt to the wound, could also be a Muslim immigrant. Whoever was in charge of this case and closed it should be suspended WITHOUT pay, and forced to take a reassessment of their job duties. Until it's done, they are no longer allowed back on the job. PERIOD..
People don't realise this but a human bite mark is one of the nastiest bites we can get. Quite ironic. We have so much bacteria in our mouth that if we were to break skin with our teeth, they'd get an infection like he did. Human bites can even lead to the need for amputation. To be fair, they able to track down dangerous prisoners escapees and bring them back. So give them sone slacks. For this case, it's good for discussion only because if you look pass the victim card, you'll see who's at fault. First. The passenger was defending herself when the driver raised his arm after calling the police like she's some kind of criminal. 😂 What happen to diplomacy? Second. The driver took his sweet time talking about his ordeal to a reporter, but he won't take his time listening to his passenger. Remember this famous business saying "the customer is always right"

There need to be some kind of barrier between the driver and the passengers. Front seat should be left vacant at all times, and drivers must carry some sort of self defence kit. Crazy times!
The fact that he needed to get the news involved to apply pressure for law enforcement to reopen the case is baffling to me. This is why these crimes continue to happen and that’s because they are not taken seriously as they should be.

I disagree - Overall she made good choices in order to steal the innocent victim's car. Obviously having a dashcam record her was of no concern because the police will "close the case" without bothering to even contact the victim. This was smart on her part because she didn't need to bother with bringing a gun, which might have forced the police to do something.
She really went in on him like she was a cornered animal or some evil lil gremlin. You can tell there was more going on than what meets the eye, he was probably about to be victimized in a whole different way and him canceling the trip part way through could very well have saved his life.

This is why as a part time Lyft/Uber driver I refuse to work in the city or at night. I’ll only drive in Westchester and Nassau counties. I’ve yet to have even one irate passenger or anyone attack me like this. And if they did, just say they wouldn’t have any teeth left to chew food anymore, yet alone bite someone else.
They only reopened the case cause the news station got involved. That's so sad...and shameful. He had proof, he had visible injuries, he wanted to press charges...what's the problem?!

Hell, if he had defended himself, video and all of this attack, we all know he would have been in handcuffs that same day and charged. Wouldn't matter that he was attacked, and we all know that beyond the "female privilege" crap even if both attacker and victim had been the same sex...it would have boiled down to who's complexion is darker to determine who gets arrested.
Actually from watching this and what he said where she "wanted to make a stop". I think she was a decoy or a "fake passenger" and wanted to take him somewhere so that the real robbers could work him over, steal his phone, his wallet and maybe even the damn shoes off his feet. She looked too desperate and I don't think that was about her but about someone that she was communicating with on her phone. When he figured out something was up, cancelled the fair, is when she lost it because he wasn't going to the "destination" for the real attack. That's when she panicked and tried to take whatever she could like his phone. Once he got his phone, and bailed out, her plan or whoever was waiting on her to get this driver to the "destination" was over. Ugly ugly stuff. I'm glad the driver got out of the car safely. I feel they ( her and whoever she was talking to ) planned something worse for him.
That police person who closed the case should be fired. If it happens to them, they would make sure that person will not be dismissed and be in jail for violent assaults.

They closed the case - a man being attacked in his car, while working (to pay taxes) and the police (of course) protect the criminal. You know, evidence of an attack, evidence of theft, attempted grand larceny, etc... Police: "Nothing to see here!"
i took a lyft yesterday and the driver not only had a dashcam but had a plastic barrier seperating me from him and i think all lyft/uber drivers should install one in their car. attacks like this would decrease a lot

I use to be an Uber driver and honestly people now and days are crazy! I love to drive but I hated the way people sometimes treated me and how entitled they feel, I’m still doing what I love which is driving, I’m a truck driver and I must admit I rather carry heavy loads than crazy people!

But no bs I picked up this older women in her late 50’s from a retirement home I believe she work there because of her uniform, to make the story short things escalated to the point she wanted to attach me I had to scare her because I did not want to hurt her so I called the cops, that was the only way to get her out of my car, I was in shocked and scared and couldn’t stop thinking of our elders that are in care of crazy people like her, I will never forget that night!
