Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre explains how Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government is spending money on bureaucracy and isn’t anywhere close to building the amount of homes Canada needs.
I completely agree with that idea. Even a national truckers strike would bring this government to its knees. A week with nothing moving would cause chaos with empty shelves in grocery stores and no fuel at gas stations. We wouldn’t even have to call it a strike we could call it the truckers initiative to fight climate change and see how Trudeau reacts to that. Imagine this government trying to force truckers back to work and start pumping emissions into the air. A week long strike would shut the country down with no fuel to burn people wouldn’t be able to go to work.
I wish we all did… I have 2 jobs and still tutor when I come home at night and still I’m short of money! What country is that? What policy is that? We all need to voice our problems 😢
Don't worry government is doing their best to hurt fast food also. Carbon tax- small businesses pay but don't get a rebate. Minimum wage laws sound good on paper but the result is they make things more expensive for everyone and make it hard to hire new unskilled labour. Fast food work used to be for young kids and a stepping stone for unskilled workers - not a permanent career.
@amandahuginkiss4098 I own a small business that required around 3k a month in driving..the carbon tax is a joke and so trudeau. Also you can't go into any fast food anymore without pretty much all are immigrants. Not sure where young kids are getting work these days..
@@jsniagara8202 work? turdope doesnt want them working, he wants them taking hard drugs. At least the kids born here, those are the ones he is destroying.
The fast food intdustry should tank, it's cancer food anyways. It's high times that McD dies off. It's costlier than many small pops restaurants nowadays. Only the idiots still WANT to eat there.
Cost of living went up how much since Trudeau? Going to be hard bringing down prices. Bureaucrats are getting their fill and they're not going to want to give it up, like politicians cutting back on their income which we pay for @MegaMech
He needs to directly declare that immigration needs to halt either completely or by a drastic percentage. None of these uplifted red tape measures and building incentives will mean anything if we’re importing one million people a year. Its unsustainable.
The problem is immigration is paying for our pensions since birth rates have declined. That's the real reason for the immigration in this country. So if we can't tackle demand we can certainly tackle supply issues
@@justauser It will be *impossible* to tackle supply if demand remains at this rate, or increases (which is the Liberal plan). The whole angle that birth rates are on a decline are purported on the fact generations have been deceived and misled to postpone life by attending post secondary for an extra decade. I say that to say this, everybody that I know with children, has multiple children. It's bullshit.
Immigration is driving down wages, you have new immigrant truck drivers, driving for 32 cents a mile, that was what it was 30 years ago. It's not a case of not enough workers, but more like not enough people willing to work for substandard wages
I have about a half-dozen Punjabi's living across from me in single house lol one is driving brand new challenger in the winter ....while my husband and struggle Canada good country ...but not to their own
It is reversible, weld the borders shut, let visa's expire and don't renew them. Let the "students" go back home. We are done subsidizing the Liberals BS.
I agree. Arrogant, self-serving, corrupt and incompetent Justin Trudeau was first-elected as Prime Minister in 2015 mostly because of his famous last name and his good looks. Egotistical and jet-setting Justin is a classic example of what a famous last name, good looks, money and a massive ego will do for someone who was NEVER qualified to be PM in the first place!
We don’t need more houses built. We had way less houses in 2015 yet renting prices were half of what they are today cuz we didn’t have the excess demand from mass immigration. We need to send back millions of excess immigrants and implement an immigration moratorium ASAP
@@acethirsk9281 PP can't send back immigrants, he won't get enough votes from the country or the cabinet to do that. He can build more homes and stop mass immigration though.
I have 16 years of experience in construction industry. Still work a bit but few years ago I decided to leave the industry. I went back to school. It’s hard to be in the industry where nobody appreciate your work. We still have same price per square foot as we had 8 years ago. This is insane. Electricians and plumbers are doing ok but they need an actual structure to work in, right?) all I’m saying that previously if person worked in construction this person could afford to buy a home, truck, to have a family, today it is a different story. Good luck to motivate people to work hard for less. As a result we will have less professionals in the field, we will build less and quality will be worse.
In perspective... 550,000 houses per year rounds to about 1500 houses per day. Who the fuck in their right mind thinks this is achievable is beyond me.
China can do it. They have put up a 20 story apartment building in 48 hours. Oh wait that would be every 2 days. That is a Guinness record which Trudeau isn't going to win ever. 🤣🤣🤣 Also, ( 3,900,000 / ( 12 * 6 + 6 ) ) * 12 is actually 600,000 homes per year. That is starting today until end of calendar year 2031. F***ing Liberal Government 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Try being the plumber Carpenter or electrician building that home or business knowing that some clowns sitting in an office made more money on this job then you will busting your balls and sweating! There's a real problem and you wonder why nobody goes into the trades anymore
Our election will be pushed back a week or more so that it doesn’t interfere with Diwali. Isn’t it so sweet that our government leaders are bending over backwards for everyone except our citizens?
Heaven forbid Trudeau actually use a calculator correctly He would probably add the $1472 someone pays for carbon tax to the $128 they get in the quarterly carbon rebate checks and use that as proof that “8 out of 10 Canadians get more money back”
The state of building in Canada is laughable when they say they’re trying to speed up building to help with the housing crisis, unless you have tried it you have no idea how incompetent and greedy the government is, as they try and hit you with every speed bump that they can to delay you, not only do you have to pay a ridiculous amount to build a house, but it takes years to get the city end done, I swear the whole system is rigged to discourage people, and the landlord tenant board is the exact same way in Ontario
If i set up a homeless encampment..Cops, by-law officers, people walk right by me....But leave my car 1 foot away in a metered parking spot with it being expired for 3 mins And i am fined $30 to $450... Even if that car is my only source to work And sleep in
They will just jam unskilled immigrants in these spots and water down the trade permits., water down the wages. More injuries, and build times will triple 😂. Already seeing it happen everyday
The RCMP has already warned Trudeau of that possibility within 5 years, but he buried the report. Thank goodness outlets like The National Post are uncovering these documents daily.
People can’t afford to buy those homes they can’t afford to rent all the vacant apartments that are sitting in every city in Canada, so why are we building houses?
I could have my own home instead of renting a room. The cost for this bachelor suite? $950/month. A room is on average $750/month. This is in little city Lethbridge AB. not a big city like Calgary
I don't agree with Conservative leader Poilievre math. He said before "When I was a housing Minister, I built 92,782 apartments...", weeks later, he said he built 89,000 apartments,... Last week he said he built 200,000 apartments when he was housing Minister... How many homes did he build for Canadians?
When you take those taxes away from the housing costs, you take money from the Government which they will need for social programs. So they will either raise taxes somewhere else or cut social programs or both.
You know, the good thing about watching a Pierre Poilievre video is I can give it a thumbs up, before watching the video, because it’s filled with facts and common sense. 😆🇨🇦💝🥰🙏🍎
i work in construction on new homes. the last year has been the slowest i remember in many years we have hundreds of people sitting at home with no work in our union
Most government want non union labor to make massive profits. But they are finding out that no one is getting in the trades anymore because the work doesn’t equal the pay., and new immigrants will do it for nothing doesn’t help the situation. Glad I’m in hvac
The beurocrat bs, red tape & rediculous fee's is killing the building of new homes !!! Its rediculous & out of control, in my area its averaging 110,000 to 130,000 dollars before you can even break ground & the time line is absurd !!!
So municipalities that aren't willing to destroy their communities by building high density housing will have their funding cut off. Great. What about the infrastructure needed to accommodate all this new housing? in my city the water treatment plant is already struggling to keep up with the demand.
Here in port colborne they make it almost impossible to build a house on a lot. And you spend about 50k to the government and 80k on the building (i own my own concrete company so i save alot on nuilding costs)
He's right . 6 years ago my rent for a two bedroom apartment was 920$ Now paying 1,850 .its either pay my rent not to be homeless and eat one meal aday. 😢 its super rough on everyone.
I was born here. My grandma was born here, her mother was born here. My grandfather immigrated. I went to school here. I can’t afford anything. I did what I was told, got a good job and I still cannot do anything but pay mass amounts of taxes. It’s unfair. I don’t want to be here anymore but this is my home. It doesn’t feel like it anymore. I’m struggling to live.
Getting Government out of the way is a start. However I teach Trades, Carpentry at a University. We are in critical shortages across Canada of skilled trades people...period. These "false" announcements will not change that. To say "We" are going to build housing is smoke and mirrors for the electorate. You cannot build them any faster, or more of them without trades. Like their Carbon emission goals, all falsehoods and propaganda. Now with all the increased costs, across the board ,the material costs soar, as does the labor costs, because the actual workers require better pay just to survive. What happens then? well the cost of housing increases. When I hear government "subsidies" that means more of my tax dollars are going towards someone else's housing, when I myself can't afford my own. For the love a Peter, Paul AND Mary!!! Can no one see the circular issues here?!!
Many people I believe that live in a single family dwelling paid to be in a r1 Zoning and DON'T want it changed in thunder bay Ontario...PERIOD. NO thanks FORD. Way to many problems not just parking! Wake UP!
No, it’s time for Canada to “stay unique” and not behave this way! Conservatives are causing problems all over the world…if you don’t believe then just listen to however you get your news and read responses to this.
My husband builds houses in Calgary and he said work is drying up and theyre at risk of losing work. People from other provinces are coming here looking for work too and nobody can afford to build right now. Unbelievable
Canada doesn't need 5.8 million more houses. Canada needs to send about 10 million people back to where the came from. Canada is for Canadians, not some losers Trudeau and Singh have imported.
Even just land is ridiculously expensive. My G/F and I want to buy a 1/4 acre to build a partially Off Grid container home on but can't cause the land itself is several hundred thousand or more where we are
I’m from Dublin, Ireland. I have absolutely no vested interests in Canada, but I can’t wait to see this man take over from Trudeau, and hopefully start to fix all the harm he has done to your country.
Housing is not something the federal government or any government should be involded in. The federal government should however be in control of immigration, something that is now out of control. The construction industry cannot adapt that quickly to a sudden increase in demand for housing, especially when there is not enough tradesmen entering the workforce. Everyone is getting arts degrees and protesting about whatever the injustice of the day happens to be. So if the Liberals could do math they would have forseen that if you let in 2 million new immigrants but you are only building 100,000 new homes a year then something will break. Mr. Poilievre should know that the fed cannot and should not get involved in housing that is something socialist governments do. That being said he cannot critisize the Libs on immigration because the WOKE mob will label him a racist.
550,000 houses per year MEANS!!! more than 1500 PER DAY!!! without construction vacation, statutory holidays etc... 365 days of non stop work during the next 7-8 years
Dont provinces have a bigger say in housing ? He can have programs for incentivising cities to build faster, but the province may block it no ? Like they are doing in Alberta and Quebec..
Provinces also have control over healthcare but the feds were able to implement nation-wide free healthcare a few decades ago by incentivizing it, just like PP says he will do now.
It’s not just the supply but they have to put demand in consideration as well. Reduce the demand by discouraging the business of residential investment where one person buys 5 houses on mortgage and put them on rent and also control immigration.
My friend's wife has been trying for 8-plus years to get her sister into Canada through legal channels. She is in the Philippines and trying to get here to build a better life. She keeps getting turned down because she doesn't have enough money in her bank account. Yet, the floodgates are open for others. Pathetic
Even if CANADA built 500k new homes in 2024, that housing market it not being built for affordable houses middle income or single income men and woman can afford. If we are only building housing for the 5% of the population now that can afford these new homes then what's the point??????
200000 +/- homes get built a year in this country before all this bs. Materials are too expensive ,less homes will be built,New ridiculous building codes for energy efficiency will only drive the cost higher.Good luck!
