In the original video you can see the shark in the wave which takes place before this video starts, however no one was bitten. The 1 surfer spotted the shark just meters away and the 4 of them swam back to the reef. The shark didn't follow.
HATE how media/news try to make it something it wasn't and to fear sharks and make them the bad guys. FYI we swim/surf/dive,etc. In THEIR home, they fear us more than we do of them. They are most always just curious and usually most always swim away. Look at hammerheads, you can't ever swim close to one usually. I honestly think media/news and commercials on things that they lie about should be sued and or get arrested for false claims.. its a huge disgusting problem and so many people are falling for them. Specially faking news to get more hits on their pages, and or more fame. Reality TV, fake news. It's sad.
Like the way the two guys are subconsciously thinking there is safety in numbers as they swim towards their friend. Third guys is like “ get the hell away from me!”
It's funny cause that's how it actually works.... Sharks avoid being harmed and only look for an easy feed so they are not confrontational.... As a spearfisher and surfer I can tell you most time they're just curious and leave you alone after coming up to Sus you out
There is safety in numbers, in Australia if a shark alarm goes off & you’re on a point break or too far away from shore you get all the surfers coming together & putting feet up on each others board
@@patrickngo1996 don't spit nonsense. are you friends with all sharks around the world? sure hypocritic to talk in the name of all sharks. Such groundless assumptions you should leave for storytellers. Real life doesn't have such straightly written ''guide'' of behaviour of some living species.
Seen quite a few fins in water over the years. The worst experience surfing an offshore reef alone at dawn, couple of hundred meters away from shore. Loneliest feeling in the world having a huge fin sticking out of the water parallel to you.
What species of shark? Because whites attack people far more often than any other species..even significantly more than Tigers and Bulls and there are only 3500 whites in the world.. millions of miles of coastline around the world and only 3500 of those sharks. Do the math. It's not statistically likely that you'll be in close proximity to THAT type of shark at any random beach. Some beaches are far more likely to have them than others but many almost never have whites around.
I once saw a shark while on my paddleboard about 3 Meters long and about 2 Meters away, my first reaction was to start paddling fast to get away but after paddling fast twice I then I realised the splashing would make it more interested in attacking so I paddled away nice n slow, splashing around frantically is not a good idea, that's what a food source would do, you would have been assessed many times by sharks but your not the smell there after they keep hunting n leave you be, the shark I seen was just swimming slowly next to me was curious not furious
That’s amazing, and scary! I love sharks but I’ve never seen one up close. Was it a white? I’m planning to start surfing soon so I might get my chance to see one. I live in Western MA and I’ve been surfing a few times at Nauset at the national sea shore, but that’s 4 - 4.5 hours away so I don’t get down there that much. But at 43 - after living most of my life living in New England and wishing I was near a surf spot - I just realized Narragansett, RI is less than 2 hours away and it’s the surfing capital of New England. I’m so stoked! Getting a snowboard too to hit the mountains in the winter.
I just watched like 10 times I don't see shark. It's their feet swinging in the air that almost looks like dorsal fin but Def no shark...visible anyways.
why the hell are they paddling across the beach. gotta paddle directly towards the beach in a straight line would've got the first two waves in.. sheesh non surfers shouldn't go out in known shark territory
Having been in this situation myself, the rocks are probably closer than the beach and on top of that in your mind your thinking don’t make to much of a splash and dash for it. Days like that ya wish ya had a long board out
Maybe he was caught in a rip, if that's the case, it's advised to let it take you out & swim across it rather than directly to the beach, plus I'm pretty sure whilst in shock & terrified he was not thinking straight & who could blame the guy? Plus panicking & splashing just excites the shark.
The way surfers always go in to the attack zone to help other surfers! The way they wait in the water to make sure they are ok. When everyone else would rationally rush to shore is incredible to me!! They are true heroes and must be the best friends to have 🙏❤️🙏
to all who have gone before me with that nugget of sage wisdom, handed down the ages...'they mistake us for seals, so it's not their fault'...well...i agree...they do what they do and they do it well...but why the hell are we so obsessed with our own self-importance and blind to the fact that we are just another food source to these creatures....arrogant in the assumption that we are above nature itself... on a planet that has been gifted to us and upon which we reside...? i wouldn't even run a bath and dip a toe in whilst visiting australia, my god...i'll stick to a healthy respectful fear of these animals that overpower my dreams occasionally, whilst urging others of our race to stop f*cking killing them at the rate of 100 million each year....we deserve a fate worse than being shredded alive by them...
Well said. And I don't believe all that "mistaken identity" crap, unless you're talking about very murky conditions and the shark is really tired or having an "off" day or something.
that still scared the hell out of me lol, especially the moment the huge great white lunges at the dudes leg out of know where.... lucky he ate his weetbix that morning...
I saw a still photo of a shark 10' behind 2 surfers, I hear a kot of tennis match grunts, however I didn't see a surfer get bit by a shark. Two guy's and a shark in the same picture doesn't equal catching a shark bite a surfer. I didn't see any moving video of the shark at all.
1:00 Mark is where the bull shark bites the surfer's foot. You can clearly see it. It's the surer closer to the bottom of the screen. Yall are blind and expect it to be some kind of major thrashing. It happened quick. It was an exploratory bite. That's all it takes to bleed to death.
It's this shit that causes fear mongering and the negativity towards sharks. He wasn't bitten. The shark didn't even show interest in them. I live in Australia and sharks are everywhere along WA atm but there's fuck all attacks...and a lot of them are close to shore. Biiiig ones too. You'd have to be extremely unlucky or in waters at the wrong time (overcast/rough waves/dusk to dawn etc) to be attacked. I've been swimming where sharks are well known to be and never encountered one. You're more likely to die in a car accident on the way home. If they attack it's either because they're provoked or starving due to illness or old age. Juvies might attack from inexperience but even that's rare.
Most of the time when a Great White has an experience with a human they never go around them again. Also I didn’t see a shark grab anyones leg.. click bait!
there are more of them an they are apex predators!Death an serious injury can result! No way would I go out in deep water esp since shark attacks on humans seems to be on the increase!Stay safe an aware
Hey dummy.....no one is surprised....no one...thats ur stupid logic and bad use of english... We all know what a shark is and where they live...surprised?..what a dumb word choice....scared maybe... We know the risks and still go in...ur a million times more likely to he killed by man on porpose or accident...any questions?
