That first close-up on the alligator's snout was incredible. It got my heart racing. Some part of my mind was telling me fight or flight, I've never felt that before from a RU-vid video. I'm so surprised how relaxed and almost docile the crocodile and alligator were with you. Gave me goosebumps!
This is incredible. The only two species of crocodile and alligator that overlap territories like this, and you got to see two impressive sized specimens just chilling together!
Just found your channel today and have been bingeing your videos. Awesome footage and content. Born and bred South Floridian here- thank you for all you do to help our gators! ✌️🐊💕
I live in Saltwater Crocodile country in Darwin Australia. We also have smaller freshwater Crocs who are relatively non aggressive and far smaller. It amazes me that an animal that size is so non aggressive, and that they are cohabitating together. This goes against all the typical behaviour of our salties. What a privilege to get so close to such impressive animals. They are beauties.
This is a chance that no one should be willing to take. In Seconds... his life can be gone and nothing can be done about it. An encounter with a Gator is always unforgiving. Id change to a non suicidal line of profession.
Up until recently there was plenty of food to go around in the Florida Everglades so perhaps they evolved with no need to be so aggressive with so much abundance. However now with the rise invasive specie in the swamp this could change.
As a third-generation Floridian, I appreciate your videography and narration. The largest alligator I have the pleasure of being around was only about10 feet long. I live in the Nature Coast area now and we have several alligators that venture out to the Gulf, one that is fond of following my wife and I while we wade fish. They are amazing creatures and deserve respect, as you mentioned.
Thank you for sharing. I’d never risk getting into a situation like that so thank you for posting this. What an amazing experience you had! You are a beast!
That was amazingly awesome. I live here in Florida all my life and I just love going out and seeing them in the wild the alligators and crocodiles. I just like to sit and watch them sit on the banks or see them the water. It's really something to see em in person especially when they're big. It blows my mind every time I see them. I love them so.
What a video!!!!! Thank you for sharing that awesome experience. The photos are just breathtaking. The only point I got anxiety was when you went into the pipe ...eh...no way! Thanks again and keep up the great work. A kiss for Casper x
Most intriguing footage of gators/Crocs I have ever seen. Normally voids of them are from the pov from bank or boat so only see top of the animal. In the water with crov and gator with this pov had me in awe. So beautiful. Amazing !
Am I the only one mortified?! 😩 he got so close and he's in their terf, man! I was scared for you! Absolutely wild footage. I'm curious about your safety protocol.
@@ChristelVinot That figure is for its entire range, throughout Latin America. People do some really dumb stuff down there, like feeding them from docks and riverbanks.
Amazing experience, I am out of words! Your knowledge on gators and crocodiles is huge, I wish one day to come and see Casper🐊 best wishes from Italy 🇮🇹
Awesome footage. Great job! As a nearly lifelong central Floridian & avid fisherman/outdoorsman since 1969, I also have a lot of personal experience with alligators. One thing I would like to point out when attempting to educate people about the differences between the American Alligator & American Crocodile, that I believe is a great help for differentiating the two species, is that a gator's snout looks much like a duck's bill. And if I'm not mistaken, wildlife biologists actually call it a bill. I think the gator's "bill" would really stand out in the mind's of people trying to learn the differences in appearance.
Im sorry... im a Floridian too... I do not think its important AT ALL to know the difference in 2 Absolute Killing Machines!!! I did not pass my Boy Scouts 2nd Class badge to become a 1st Class Boyscout bcz to get my Swimming Merit Badge, the test was to drop me in the middle of a pond and swim back to land. The water was murky and you could not see the bottom. THAT WAS A HARD N FOR ME!!! Keep the Swimming Merit Badge, i am ok with being alive with all my limbs as a 2nd Class boyscout.
@@123antknee Hey, that's YOUR opinion. If you don't want TO LEARN how to easily & simply spot the stark differences between a gator and a croc, will, that's fine. But I still don't understand why you feel the need to push your paranoid outlook on me, when all I did was list THE BEST WAY to easily & quickly spot the difference between these 2 giant lizards. Did I ever say "Jump in the water, dive down to get a much closer look at each, to see this difference"??? NO, I did not. Lastly, I DO have a healthy respect for these animals, I DO keep my distance from larger gators ( we don't even have crocs up here in central Florida, they are only found in south Florida )..........but that doesn't mean I'm going to freak out every time I see a huge gator in an area that I'm fishing from inside my boat. And ya know why? BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT "THE CRAZED KILLING MACHINES" THAT YOU ARE PLAYING THEM UP TO BE. Common sense goes a long way man.
@@howabouthetruth2157 So do you think they'd attack you if you were in a boat and fell in? Honestly. I'm just curious. Or what if you just went swimming in the water? That might sound like a dumb question. I use to live in S. Florida and miss the heck out of it. So beautiful there.
This is one of the coolest videos i have ever seen!!! My natural instincts are going crazy when ur filming those ancient beasts close up!!! I really feel it in my bones that i want to go far away from them! :D But in the same time they look so cool and amazing! Really cool video!
I agree that wouldn’t be my thing diving to those wild dinosaurs. I’m not an expert …but I think it’s just a question of time until you become food doing stuff like that so be careful as always.
I’m surprised only you and me commented on this! A decade (10 yrs) is NOT a long time at all to be studying and learning how to move around these apex predators. You have to consider that the first few years he wasn’t swimming with them. It was probably more of learning about them on his terms. I just think this was really really stupid. Especially with no oxygen. But, then again, some people don’t mind having around 60 large teeth that produce over 4,000 lbs of pressure per square inch, tear into their flesh while 1,000 lbs of apex animal brutally rips and rolls their body under water, tearing off limbs. Hopefully, for their sake they drown rather quickly after the first deathrolll… But, HEY!! At least they were doing what they loved 🥰
Wow! So incredible & so happy you saw them both. Pics at the end are gorgeous! So compared to Seven, how big were they? Oh and it looks like the crocodile has less osteoderms, is that normal or it just looks different?
Such a professional looking video too the colors of everything were just beautiful you definitely captured the beauty and serenity of these Jurassic looking beasts just AWESOME
Wish You had Filmed the Scene Above The water to Show what the Whole Setting Looks like. Like the Old Swimming hole where Everyone is up top having a great time But Down on the Bottom someone Is Sleeping in the Murk. Whole setting so people can know What kind of areas to watch out for.🐊
Out of this world footage totally awesome encounter wow!!!both seemed like they were very chilled but hiding in the mud! !well done Chris !!!! Really scarey eyes so green and pearly white teeth!💯💟🌈 but very skilful work like something out of Jurassic park movie lol interesting to see the detailed differences of croc and gator 🐊🐊🐊 congrats guys
Dude you are insane! Even with 10 years of experience I wouldn't even think about getting into the same water with a crocodile and an alligator..oh hell no! I don't even swim in water where there are fish let alone crocodiles or alligators! I'll stick to swimming in a pool thank you. You can have all the dangerous fun you want ...I'm good! Lol 😏😊 🏊🏼♀️🐊🐊
This was awesome!!! BREATHTAKING!!!😁Two magnificent Apex predators just chillin 😎. I have heard Chris say Shark diving can be rather calming, or relaxing, and I have actually felt strangely relaxed while watching some of y’all’s Shark diving videos, and I was wondering if it’s the same swimming with wild Alligators, and Crocodiles? Thanks so much for sharing this amazing experience 😁
“Never ever enter the water where alligators and crocodiles are present” 😂 you don’t have to tell me twice!!! Or once! 😂😂😂 awesome footage! Stay safe out there!
There's just something so horrific yet amazing about a massive reptile that's just motionless. Just sitting there with no sign of being a living thing. At least until the point of lunging and biting.
Hello! Can you please do a video on what to do when you see an alligator/crocodile/sharks coming towards you in the water? I work for a hull cleaning company in south Florida and we have to look out for gators/crocs/sharks all the time. Thank you!
Carry a hand grenade man, jokes aside leave that job immediately. Such biological hazard are hard to contained. Bring a spear gun if u must or a flare.
"They are not like people; they don't kill each other just for looking different." Sad, and even sadder that this will never change for us human beings.
It's arguably more common for humans to get along than kill eachother though. And it is usually governments or leaders of some kind (religious etc) who foster that hatred. People all over the world are for the most part good people.
so amazing. to think these things basically lived with dinosaurs and endless other life forms to come before humans and still very similar to millenia ago since they are perfectly designed for how they survive and thrive!!! hope i can do something like this some day
@@genabargay4391 nah they're crocodilians, but lived at the same time. the only existing dinosaurs are avian now. still, very similar predators and haven't changed much if at all since then
I find this so interesting you could never be this close to a wild lion or tiger but actually in the water with a crocodile or alligator you got less chance of surviving.
This is incredible. This footage you captured is honestly one of the most amazing videos I’ve ever seen. Why are they not attacking you? It’s blowing my mind
Honestly its just luck that hes not being attacked. Hes a professional and can read their behavior better than most but even with the warning signs of an aggresive animal like that in the water there is no chance of escape. Also the element of random encounters such as bumping in to a hidden croc or gator adds more dangerous luck. It just happens to be at the time of filming that those animanls werent hungry or feeling aggressive, which i am happy to see.
I am so shocked this video doesn't have 3m+ views this footage is 10/10 5 star quality!!! better than anything on TV relating to alligators. just wow!!
Wow! What a footage. Just wanna know if that wider design of the jaws from an alligator exerts higher bite forces, compared with a crocodile's? I know the saltwater croc has the largest extant bite force, but may be for its huge size. How about force per kg?
Bite force in crocodilians is usually proportionate to body size and largely independent of snout shape. Instead, snout shape will determine how well a species can handle those pressures, therefore having implications for behavior (can also affect things like side to side/up down movement when attempting to bite or locate food and sense surroundings). The Alligator and American croc will have similar bite forces at the same size, but the alligator’s blunter snout and teeth will resist the stresses from biting that hard better. That makes it somewhat safer for it eat stronger/harder prey and less likely to suffer major structural injuries during combat with other alligators.
This vid made me so happy. I've been searching forever to find a live video of an American Croc and an American Gator in the wild, because it has to happen, right??? This is it, this is that video. And to top it off, they're ginormous kaiju-size!! Well done!!!! (please don't get eaten)
How do you do this?!!? It took me 3 sittings and two pairs of under ware to get through the whole thing. Mad respect for this, its a side to gators I haven't seen before, but can you share the safety protocols you have in place for things like these? Do you bring a knife or anything?
@@dundeeecroc I saw this when the vid first came out, but I’m revisiting and just have to say that this is literally not true. There’s nothing special about the circumstances which allows him to be “safer”. It’s incredibly dangerous even with Chris’s vast experience. His “safety protocol” is excellent knowledge and understanding of crocodilians and their behavior. He knows the best way to act around them, but that doesn’t mean it’s safe. And his successful encounters that are peaceful aren’t due to some fancy trick.
Holy snappin Duckshit !!! that was awesome ... thanks Chris ... would you try with an Aussie estuarine croc? just wondering ... cause they are very nasty ... i dont live near croc infested waters anymore ... but just a question cause Id not go near the water LOL specially since Salty's have attacked people off beaches in tents before too they are pretty ruthless ... and yes i saw you swimming with Niles
Yea Your already going down deep don’t want to venture in that tunnel too!! Haha Great commentary and awesome video I felt as if I was there. Very interesting and knowledgeable thank you for putting in all this work and sharing it with us ❤️✊✌️
