Great video Travis. I feel all your arguments are valid. Only thought I have is if your already there with a customer then hang out and help them load the wood till they leave. I don't think they would have taken the wood if you were standing there.

Years ago we lived in an apartment complex and someone kept stealing our firewood... So, we drilled into the end of a log with a spade bit, loaded a 12 gauge shell of buckshot in there and filled the hole with wood putty and sawdust and put it back in the pile and waited. A couple nights later the maint man for the apartments blew his chimney apart LOL
Ok i was having the same thought, maybe it was an ESL issue, but the dude lost any doubt when he says “i didnt think you would mind that much” or whataver… i never tell a business i buy things from “i didn’t think you’d mind me buying this” meaning he knows he didnt buy it properly

Since I last commented, I was 5.00 short. Was keeping twenty 5.00 bundles stocked. This morning 7 were gone but only 30.00 instead of 35.00 so someone took an extra.
Either people can't do math, didn't have enough cash, or said to themselves, "eh, they have plenty of wood...$5 won't hurt" - which is the same mentality of the thieves in this episode. IF it was the former, I'd rather have people leave me a note in the cashbox stating something like, "didn't have enough, I'll be back tomorrow with the $5 balance" and that would be fine. Ugh. I feel your pain, thank you for sharing. Keep cuttin'!
Sorry man. Don't let it get you down, at least the majority of people are honest. I've been lucky that in 2 years with my stand I've only had 1 theft (somebody took 8 bundles and only paid for 3)
Agreed, as someone mentioned in a previous comment of this episode - the majority of folks who come to the firewood stand pay and that's great! That is a great ratio of people who buy v. those who steal at your stand. I have a few episodes where I show case thieves but this was the first time I was able to call them out. It's the honor system, unfortunately some people will always take advantage of this. What goes around comes around eventually, sad but the times we're living in. Can't trust anyone.
He may have felt buyer's remorse so he returned to top off a perceived deficit. No doubt - that was theft. He took stuff he didn't pay for. You should post the truck plate number and business signage from the truck too. Name and shame those thieves.

Each time I do a theft episode people suggest that I put up a Wall of Shame of thieve's photos posted at the stand. Just on my to-do list. However, if I advertise too much, and the thief does find that they were posted on the channel, then I may have to deal with their repercussions. We'll see. Thanks for your two-cents. Keep cuttin'!
Interesting, I have only had a roadside stand for less than two weeks and went into it knowing there could be theft. Have sold about 45 bundles and the money left has matched each time so most people are honest.

People are assholes bro. They can't dictate the price to you, do they go to Walmart and fill the cart and make them an offer? I would have messaged him and let him know that you caught him and to go elsewhere to buy his wood next time. Posting his pictures on Facebook would have more effect I would think. He obviously has no idea how hard it is to process firewood! Kudos to you for having cameras to catch him in the act! I would never sell to him again!! In fact I would have reported him to the authorities!!@

Would have a tough time on reporting theft due to the $ amount, Travis you might want to call LSPD non emergency and ask them what your best option is in terms of reporting it, since there is a crime, but worrying no one would show up for $10-$100 thefts?
I think what im saying is ask LSPD, maybe a detective, what you would need to provide to them in order for charge to be pressed. They might be more helpful if you’re saying “i dont want to take an officer off the road for a report, i can bring it to you” etc?
As @TheRustyGarageandHomestead mentioned, if I would have stayed there long enough to load and pull away, they most likely wouldn't have taken anything they didn't pay for. Definitely sucks. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!

Travis, it really is sad that some people feel that they are entitlement to whatever they want. But do remember there are many more people that are honest and many tip. I’m not at all siding with the thieves. We all seem to remember negative acts , more than positive ones. I do blame our media for this. Take care bud. It’s like you said 4 bucks will not break you. When trees are falling on the ground I don't think they'll mind for you cleaning up dead wood burns the same you must work for the forest department to think that way
Here in Canada 🇨🇦 they would charge you for outing thief's on social media.. they tell us to call the police and let the professionals handle it.. if we post a video it would hurt the feelings of the thief and that's apparently worse then stealing...
Censorship can be a double-edge sword as well as a slippery slope. I'm simply taking action into my own hands, as the local authorities have better things to do than to go after people for $4. Just my opinion. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!
Not how it works on the east coast. It's been done many times, I have no idea if the police ever followed up but at least the community knows what type of people are among them
