Ahhh! Thank you so much for sharing this. It's just what I needed as I make plans to do a multi-day walk, starting from Gateshead, until I pick up the Weardale Way. There's not much information on the practicalities of doing the Weardale Way so I really appreciated your videos. Oh, and your daughter deserves a whole chest-ful of medals.
You, Sir, are a star. Thank you for the extra information. I'll not be using a car as my plan is to start walking from my front door, meander around a few North East routes (including the Weardale Way) and then keep walking southward until I get to Cornwall (to visit my daughter) and end at Lands End. But probably I'll not set off until October as the summer is the only time I can get any work. I've already completed the Camino de Santiago de Compostella a couple of times in the winter so the distance shouldn't be a problem (however ,British moorland and ploughed fields in Autumn/winter might be somewhat of a challenge). Anyway, thanks once again. Really appreciate it. Now - back to watching your other videos.
Great video mate love the Royston Vasey reference and like you say mate it's fairly simple and easy for them to inform the public and there'd be no problem... Take care mate Roo
LOL some good humoured editing & narrating nick. deffo recognised your voice over walk me & the wife done it on sunday.the little wayfarer is growing fast.cheers. on a couple of sections of peninne way i have walked through people's gardens,
I've been making aerial videos of Weardale by drone for a about a year now - mainly the old abandoned farms and houses there. Fabulous to see everything from a walkers perspective, it's such a stunning place. Shame you ran into Mr and Mrs Angry, the locals are mostly very friendly. Smashing video and I enjoyed the peaceful music too.
Their used to be a good walk on an old railway line which had been disused and it started from Ctoss Keys and ends up at dadidary shields but unfortunately British rail sold the land off to the farmers.
Very entertaining Nick, a well told tale of trespass and adventure. Loved the old League clips very appropriate, you would think they would just replace the rotten Private sign, some people just like the drama though. Fantastic area mate, it's surprising just how the snow changes everything. Look forward to the rest of the way. Cheers Nick and ATB. Jim.
Lmao! There’s a few quirky folk in Cowshill. I should know, I grew up two villages east. Mostly good folk in the upper dale tho’. Enjoying your videos of the area. Walk steady & true!👍
it would not be suitable for horses, there may be parts of it that would be doable but there are some bridges and styles that a horse wouldn't be able to manage. It might be possible to create an alternative route though
Northern Wayfarer ha, don't have a daughter but can imagine they must be amazing 😁 double well done then 😃 haha, nope, nobody can accuse you abs definitely not us haha 😂
Really enjoyed this one mate, interesting amusing and frustrating because there are such miserable people out there, they have something missing in their lives to have attitude like that, never mind onwards and upwards Nick, ATB George.
i know thay make it as awkward as thay can to disrupt outsiders like ramblers and hikers ive had it all, but being from sunderland i take it in its stride and hope i dont have to punch someones lights out i grip my teeth and walk away.
Brilliant editing, ‘nowt as queer as folk’ me mam would have said of your brush with the locals. Made me laugh, people eh? I suppose that’s an advantage of walking the hills (less chance of coming across any people 😀) THanks for a brilliant video atb.
