How to fix P0480 engine ode: Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit Malfunction
A P0480 Code indicates that PCM has detected an incorrect amount of voltage (high or low) in the electric cooling fan control circuit.
The engine computer (ECM/PCM) detects a temperature increase through the coolant temperature sensor.
Once a set temperature is reached, ECM will activate the fan through the cooling fan relay.
If the ECM does not receive the correct amount of voltage from the cooling fan control circuit, it sets a P0480 Code.
Possible Causes of a P0480 Code:
Blown Fuse
Bad Relay
Wiring Open or Short
Bad Coolant Temperature Sensor
Bad Cooling Fan 1
Fan Control Module

The FIRST thing to check is the Battery voltage! Especially if you're gettimg a bunch of codes suddenly. Low battery got me a couple times!

After checking ever fuse an rely even ones on the grill mount,changed radiator sensor and nothing,so it turns out that the coolant sensor mounted on the engine block is the culprit. When it is faulty the ECM doesn't know the exact temp of motor so apparently sends wrong signals to fan and thus affecting AC.

I just replaced my radiator and had this issue after I replaced it. I had 2 blown 40amp cooling fan fuses blown. replaced those and I also replaced the thermostat and cooling sensor and still have the code. The cooling fans were running fine before the radiator replacement. I then tested the new cooling sensor and its fine. Still can't figure it out. I have 12v at the from the ecm to the fan harness. Might be the ecm or bad fans but it was good before replacing the radiator so not sure what it could be. 2014 chevy silverado 1500
