in this video I Will share with you How to Test a Cooling Fan Circuit On a VW Rabbit To find out Why The Radiator Fan Stays on when the Engine is Off #CoolingFan #RadiatorFan #CoolingFanStaysOn
This is the type of mechanic I like. He didn’t just throw the computer at it and go with what the computer says and leave it at that. He troubleshot and did process of elimination to get to the underling problem. Well done sir!!! 👏👏👏
Deo, you are an excellent mechanic and teacher. Your videos demonstrate a methodical approach to diagnosing problems, and your explanations are superb.
Happy to see K Diagnostics doing another diagnostic and repair video. One of my favorite RU-vid channels. May God bless this man with a long life and happiness. Great Video. Thumbs Up..
I have watched a few of your videos. and like the way you troubleshoot, diagnose and explain the problem, in an easy step by step method. You are one of the good ones on RU-vid.
Thank you for an excellent video. I’ve been searching for knowledge on this problem, and you are clear, methodical, knowledgeable, and communicate well. Wish I would have found your video before all the other ones that were pretty confusing or useless…
My wife has the 2013 VW Jetta 2.5 se, same issue. So far, thermostat and engine coolant sensor replaced, new fuse 50 added, new fans added but aftermarket part used (not OEM) I haven’t checked the other sensor you mention in this video. So far, when it runs all I’m doing is just removing the fuse to make the large fan stop once the car is backed to a parked spot, otherwise it will drain the battery. Your video is excellent! I don’t know where you are located but if you were close to me I would take my vehicles all day to you! Thank you for your expertise! God bless!
When the fan or any of the temp sensors are disconnected the Pcm can default to turning on the fan regardless. So disconnecting is not really the best way to test. Nevertheless you got it right and it’s generally a bad fan module.
Thanks for your video, very helpful. On my golf 5 TDI, I recently changed my fan that wasn't working, fuse 50A was broken. Replaced the fuse and the fan with new one that's not OEM and it's still not working. Checking voltage on the wires you show on your videos, all OK.. checking the yellow with multimeter and put it on Hz/Duty and there is signal about 5Hz. So, I suppose the new fan that is not OEM is the problem. I'm wondering why fan that's not OEM is a garbage like that
Thank you for your video!!!
Sir I have a Nissan tiida, c11 2006 model at my workshop with the problem of spark plugs light issue which make the car not to start I have did so many troubleshooting I even changed the ecu 2, program it still it didn't work any assistance I would appreciate .
Hi Deo thank you for your insight and great video. I have a similar issue with my mk5 golf tdi 2005 model. The fans start running with key on. I checked both sensors and they checked out ok. Relay checks out as well. I had both fans replaced late 2021. Could you give me some light were to look. Thanks again.
Having a similar issues ...but I thought I read that if the temp sensors ..one or both wasn't sending a signal ...the computer defaulted the fan to on as a safety feature so the vehicle wouldn't overheat
Thank very much, I'm from Vietnam. help me. wire from ecm sent to fan module, can the voltage be measured with a vom meter. If yes, what is the voltage when the key is turned on?
K, Great 👍 Diagnose but you fail to show Us the Fan Control Module I don't know if it integrated inside the fan or not but you failed to show us that Fan ControlModule how it works maybe next time !
dang i found the cooling fan assembly on amazon for $80 but now im considering going with OEM. mind if i send you a link to get a second opinion? i would appreciate you looking.
just called vw dealership they want around $900 just for the parts..... im shocked at the price difference... if you have any reputable parts dealers recommendations i would appreciate your input, im nervous about buying the $80 part from china and i dont mind spending a little more staying in the states. thanks!!!
I’m having the same issue with my 2008 vw Rabbit! The check engine light came on showing Code P0480 as well, it’s saying coolant fan circuit one, which fuses should I check first before replacing both fans ?
Jason montez Follow the steps in the video, and make sure your temperature sensors are working well, or I would recommend having it diagnosed by a pro mechanic
My polo had the same problem of fan running like this when the key is on after I unplugged the temperature sensor connected on the radiator. It stayed on even after i put the connector back in. But after I unplugged the fan connector, take the key out, put both the connectors back in, started the engine, the problem for some reason was gone😂
Other demonstrated, that Fan turned on because of bad (AC) Fuse Nr1, located inside car, left side of front panel, under the cover. He putted a good fuse back, and fan stopped. Other demonstrated because of bad connection at Fan connector itself (Controller cable) he installed that cable, so it bypass connector, and fan stopped. Other told, without demonstration, that this can be caused because of AC pressure switch, some call it pressure sensor..
Hey .. I have a 08 VW Jetta . The cooling fans turn on the temp reads 190' degrees normal on gauges had code for coolant sensor ( replaced it ) is the radiator fan relay bad ? .. i know the coolant sensor sends signal to relay when car gets REAL hot to turn on fans .. where's the relay . Like your opinion ?
@@greatcesarsghost the other one should be around the lower radiator or somewhere there in the engine bay! or you can look at the location of the second sensor!
Same issue ,my Fan gets direct on after the ignition, and ac doesn't work also.. can be the ac pressure switch faulty.. as soon as I clear the code . Blower Fan circuit 1. The ac clicks and run cold air.. what could be the issue.. coolant temp sensor reading is fine.. ambient temp sensor is also fine.
Hello, I'm writing on behalf of my friend He thinks he has a similar problem: He was driving his car (Golf VI 2.0 TDI) normally and it stopped working. At the repair shop they changed the alternator, but later on his battery heated very quickly so he needed to disconnect it. He also has the same problem with the fans draining the battery until completely dead. Do you maybe know what could be the problem? As soon as the car starts it shuts off immediately and then the fans start working. I already changed the alternator once and after 7 days the same thing happened.
@emin8107 the problem might be a temp sensor issue or wiring or etc.. it depends, I recommend you take it to a pro mechanic who can diagnose it properly!
I would never have replaced the cooling fan over that issue. There is other things that have to be checked first. With me if a load is on and working then why replace it?? Is the temperature sensor reading the correct temperature?? Is the relay stuck closed?? Is there a problem with the fan control module?? If the load works ok we have to go somewhere else. Thank you K
I had the same issue were the the big fan num(1) would stay on till battery dies , I replaced it with a Chinese aftermarket one it work fine for a week then i started doing the same thing ! Now i bought an oem fan and works good again I’m just worried it’s starts doing the same thing again Btw I’m just replacing the big fan with the module not both Any help ? Jetta mkv 2008
I have same problem in my 2014 jetta tdi wagon, I took it to the electrician, he told me computer motor has to be programed. the car has accidents from the front
Awww man this is happening to my car as well i was worried my battery kept draining i was like wth! But my fan goes on and off on amd off on and off while the car is off so this does drain battery??
Hi,my Passat B8 2.0tdi 2016 when stop the engine the cooling fan stays on for 3 or 4 minutes and then stop is there any thing wrong with my car.? Thanks
I pressed thumbs down because I would've liked proof that the fix was a new fan because the computer was clearly sending a signal even though the fan wasn't connected and the car was off and temperature sensors disconnected which leads me to believe the computer is acting up and if you would've hooked up a new fan, it would do the same thing because the computer is still sending a signal
A Father To The Fatherless The activity that you see on the labscope screen is the computer trying to communicate with the fan module, which didn't communicate back, so the fan module was defective, this car came from another shop, my friend did the repair, after installing an OEM fan all was well...
