Cavalleria Rusticana - Verona (Cossotto, Martinucci, Carroli) 1989 

I love this opera so much. Mascagni really knew how to compose melodies of tremendous import.

I was in three productions of this opera and even in the scenes in which I didn't sing I stayed close behind the curtain so I could hear the music.

I think Maria Callas played Santuzza in a production of Cavalleria.

Ah. The curse. But Santuzza's behavior with Alfio ensured that it would be carried out.

Dang. My favorite opera but I must get to bed. In the middle of the night You Tube has shown Macbeth with Placido and Anna Netrebko. A wonderful production except very strange. Macbeth's soldiers were dressed like nazis. And the three witches were dressed as nurses. But why?
