Her vibrato is too fast (almost a bleat), especially in this repertoire. It disrupts the musical line and demonstrates underdeveloped technique. Never been a fan, and this confirms it.
I was there that evening. Beautiful memories! I made a huge effort to get a ticket, solely because I needed to hear Merrill. Finally got one and was not disappointed.
Glorious. She SINGS every note. So much to admire - the legato phrasing, the portamenti, the rock-solid core of the sound. The highs are thrilling because they're so secure and part of the line.
Till today, I had a favorite... Del Monaco and Bastianini... But this version is so unbelievable great, that I would put it on par. Grazie!!! Here my beloved version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GMFiUXdyOro.html
Wow! For goodness sake, I've only just found this in 2024. It's absolutely, gobsmackingly, awe-inspiringly, fabulously brilliant. I've never heard such a stunning performance of this in my life. No wonder he is such a huge star. ❤
Jeszcze jedno, najważniejsze:On nadal śpiewa w naszych sercach i nigdy nie przestanie. Pozdrawiam wszystkich wielbicieli tego nieziemskiego Artysty.❤
@@katiaaguiar7103A Ty wyruszasz mnie swoimi słowami.Dziękuję Katiu,Przyjaciółko i posyłam serdeczności. Masz rację.On jest godzien wszelkich zaszczytów.❤
That is SOOOO thrilling ! Two magnificent singers, perfect for this particular duet, singing their heart out ! Giacomini possessed a beautiful, very baritonal voice. Perhaps not ideal for the rest of the opera, which pictures Andrea as a youthful, sensitive man : think of Carreras, who sang (and recorded) the role at the very limit of his vocal power, but so moving and attractive, and of course of Corelli, the epitome of vocal sex-appeal. As for Eva Marton, she is here at her very best, and that is saying a lot.
@lucashamilton151 Have you heard Dolora Zajick live? I heard her live on several occasions. In fact I was in the chorus during one of her performances as Anmeris in "Aida". Her chest voice, the middle voice and the top were were equally big and grand. Believe me when I say that the Zajick instrument could cut through any size orchestra, chorus and rattle the rafters of any theatre. She was a force of nature. Also heard her as Azucena in "Il Trovatore" and in concert. Unforgettable.
