I know i'm late, but lemme tell you how dumb I am. I got the game recently and decided to go into this game blindy, knowing nothing. When I first died, it was by a bug or something that caused me to get flung into the air and falling. When I ended up in the cave, I didn't realize the exit was just behind me all along, so I decided to continue through the cave. I beat the first cave cannibal, but when going against the group of three I panicked and fled to where Virginia was. Remember that this was on day 10. When I saw the dead mutant babies, I revived my dead braincells to fight one more time. I knew this was a boss room of some sort because of the noises and the dead mutant babies. I then got on to high ground, and threw flares for light. After seeing Virginia, I paused the game and searched how to craft a bow, so I could shoot it while the flares was making light. I quickly made a bow and started shooting it with arrows I had gained from villages. Virginia couldn't reach me, resulting in a victory for me. I then escaped with the rope in Virginias room. I'm a legend for going that route.

i spent more than an hour exploring this cave, when i was done i climbed up the rope and somehow was thrown some 30 meters high up into the air, then fell on my face and died. that's my life story, than you.

I just started playing this game and my kid was next to me watching and after I told him I was looking for a good place to make a base he pointed out the area outside the cave entrance (we didn't know there was a cave entrance or even a cannibal village nearby so when I spent a bunch of time farming logs and what not we realized too late what happened. It worked out great though so far it seems to be a really abundant place to make camp. Killed the mom thing and the babies and found the dynamite stash as well
