Join me on my solo hike and cave camp in the beautiful Peak District. This cave is designated as an area of scientific interest as Roman artifacts have been found inside its chambers and burials found right outside of its entrance. Happy Halloween and enjoy the video!
Disclaimer:
I do not recommend exploring any cave by yourself. My family and a local land owner were aware of my location and my intention to spend the night in this cave.

Grazie! È sempre divertente accamparsi in una grotta. Ho un paio di altre grotte sulla mia lista in cui accamparmi. Esplorare in kayak sembra fantastico! Apprezzo davvero che tu abbia guardato e dedicato del tempo per commentare. ti auguro il meglio.

This was such a pleasure to watch! My hubby and i are always in the peaks, hiking cycling and camping and we live very close to the white peaks and just 1 hr to the dark peaks of Castleton and Hope! Its our playground at 71 and 72!

Must be nice living so close! I wish we lived a bit closer to the peaks! I will definitely be making my way back up there this winter!

@@GoingSoloOutdoors It is i can't count how many hikes we've had this yr on the Roaches, Mam Tor ridge and around the thers! When we camped 4 nights in oct in Hope, we hiked 35 miles in 3 days and a ten mile walk on the first day! Fabulous

Is there a RU-vid reward for most camera repositions in a 36-minute video? Because you would win it. Brilliant job of storytelling and editing. Thanks for doing this. 🙂👍🔥

This place is literally (well almost) on my doorstep, I know the area quite well. It didn’t look like Thor’s Cave though that one, I need to do some more exploring around the Dove Holes area this year for sure.. Although not sure I’d like to sleep in a cave personally, bit too creepy for me.😄 I do really like your channel, top quality content indeed. New subscriber after watching your night in the woods under a tarp video. I’m also new to this wild camping, had my first outing a couple of weeks ago, which was also out in the Peak District. My plans to do my first at the top of Kinder Scout were scuppered by thick freezing fog! So had to stay on lower ground and close to the car, it was ok but not where I wanted to be at all.

I wasn’t too sure how I’d feel about sleeping in a cave either, but between the whisky and sounds of the heavy rain just outside the cave entrance … I actually slept like a baby! On my last camp in the Lake District I didn’t end up making it to the spot I wanted to camp either but it always makes that next trip that much better. Kinder Scout will still be there waiting for you the next time! Thanks for watching my videos! I really appreciate the support and your comments! ATB

Hello everyone! Being the RU-vid novice that I am, I originally created my channel using my personal email account and changed the name to Going Solo. Nevertheless, I switched it to another account a couple months ago so I could regain my personal Gmail account with my name. As a result, I realize all of my previous responses to comments have been deleted across the platform. I just wanted to say thank you again to all of you who have watched, commented or liked any of my videos! For those of you who would like to see my response to a question that is no longer there, please let me know and I will be happy to answer any questions again. Thanks for your support!

You gotta sack the Bells (which is well rough) and get some decent Islay whiskey! Peak District not far from here. I must get up there more. But those 1830's cave writings were amazing!

👍 Yeah they didn’t have to many nice whiskey options in the little village store I stopped in on the way up. The cave writings were pretty cool! Thanks for watching another Tom!

Another fun video but I would have been apprehensive to explore as far into that cave as you did. Graffiti was fascinating though. A real slice of history.

This cave is a really cool place. Having done my research ahead of time I felt ok just exploring the 2nd chamber. I really wanted to see the graffiti I read about. Apparently two Roman’s were also found buried outside the entrance to the cave. Crazy to think of how many humans probably used this cave to escape the crazy weather that the Peak District often gets! Definitely a cool slice of history! Thanks again for watching! ATB

@@GoingSoloOutdoors Roman? Really?! We lived in Derbyshire for several years so I shouldn't be surprised but tend to think of Roman evidence as up by Hadrians Wall. Thank you again for the cool videos.

@@lynetteswinburn5408 yeah pottery, jewelry, coins and even a bear skull have been found in the cave. The artifacts suggest the cave had been occupied around 100-160 CE. Apparently the artifacts can be seen at the Buxton Museum & Art Gallery in the Wonders of the Peak exhibition. I have yet to go, but I would really like to. I’ve only seen pictures of some of the artifacts online.

The Detroit Urban Grotto cave explorers have multiple base canes under a nearby USA state. Porters on supply missions using mountaineering skills deliver to destinations about 12 hours a[part. All be the light of their helmet lamps. At last report they had more than one hundred miles of completed cave cartography with no end in view. Last year I was invited to go party. With cave explorers who by cartography verified they had traveled 150 miles under land owned by the USA Government. Yes, there were sleep-over's, as needed. Funny how people like that can't find a functional underground public transit station for a proper tea in a comfy chair.

Why not leave the wood somebody might of needed that one day
@GoingSoloOutdoors
@GoingSoloOutdoors 2 года назад
I’m a strong believer in leave no trace and leaving an area better than how you found it. This is an area of scientific interest as many artifacts have been found in and around the cave including human remains. It’s an eyesore to see such a beautiful cave scared by fire and half burnt wood left in the cave. I was just doing my part to leave the place better than how I found it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Happy Holidays!
