This was a wild one, after getting out of the collapsing area we almost decided to just leave the cave. Good thing ‪@CaveChronicles‬ pushed the connection to the rest of the cave!

@Shawn-yp9ic
@Shawn-yp9ic 5 месяцев назад
That's probably true but a lone rock on a cave floor poses no danger compared to finding yourself climbing thru a massive pile of rocks precariously stacked in a way that a domino effect of further collapsing is almost certain. If you weren't crushed in such a collapse you could find yourself with a situation of needing to "dig" your way out. "Dig" in this case means lifting and moving rocks from your path to construct a new path out of the breakdown area to get out. It could be such a huge and unknown mission that the "digging" leaves you in a hopeless frame of mind or "digging" could result in even more and bigger collapses.

it is weird, we think about the cycle of water on the planet as evaporation, cloud formation, eventual precipitation and rain bringing it back to water flowing in streams, rivers, and oceans but there's this other path that water takes and it must be huge amounts of water that flows down thru rocks and caves and it must be finding its way into some kind of vast space or else caves would eventually fill up, so its going somewhere. And how many sources are pouring down into wherever? How does it cycle back up?
@RM61188
@RM61188 5 месяцев назад
@@Shawn-yp9ic It eventually makes its way to lower elevations where it comes out the ground in natural springs. Southern states such as Louisiana, miss, Alabama, and Florida are full of fresh water springs that can trace their source back to the Appalachians
@Shawn-yp9ic

@@RM61188thats interesting, so you believe these caves with water flowing deeply down into the earth only flow as far as lower elevation states or areas and resurface in streams or springs? I have not heard that but it seems possible to occur, I have a hard time believing that to be common of water flowing down in caves. I would think aquifers more likely to be where their downward travel ends.

I can't tell, but sometimes it looks so tight that the bag will just barely slip thru, or where you are crawling, it just doesn't look like there is any way to fit thru the space. Sometime, if you can, please say how much height or width you actually have. I've never been claustrophobic, but sometimes it looks like you could become wedged. I've cave dived in shallow caves where I can always see the entrance. But, I've never had the guts or training or desire to go any deeper. People that can do that, amaze me. Look for the video where one of the cave divers kept going off to left and right and the others lost him and he was lost. He found a room and was trapped for weeks with no light, no food, no water. People like you had maps and walked in from another direction and found him alive. It was amazing. After that, I can't imagine that person would EVER have any inclination to do that again Search for where people dive under the ice and under giant icebergs. Not many people do this and it's very possible to get disoriented . I love to watch your explorations. 🏆🤗🙏💙
