We where called to evaluate this driveway. This driveway is located in a sloped area. The house never suffered from settlement. However, the soil supporting the concrete driveway was completely eroded over the years. Possible causes are related to excessive water leaking through the gaps (expansion joints and cracks) and erosion that was allowed on the sides of the driveway.
Many owners think the woods in between the concrete slabs are meant to stay there, and they let the woods dry and decompose without knowing the future damage of the driveway and their pockets.
At this point, the repair will involve removing all concrete, back-filling base material, pour reinforced concrete and seal the expansion joints.
Appropriate expansion joint procedures cost a fraction of the cost of driveway replacement.
