Cavetown, aka Robin Skinner, talks us through the making of their brand new album 'Worm Food', featuring the singles 'frog', '1994' and 'Fall In Love With A Girl'. He talks recording in San Diego and collaborating with Pierce The Veil frontman Vic Fuentes on the song 'A Kind Thing To Do'. Plus, he tells us about the This Is Home project, his huge UK shows including a London date at the Hammersmith Apollo and reflects on 10 years since starting out as a musician on RU-vid.

For me the name of cavetown has always meant childhood innocence and remembering my childhood, my grandad lives in a small beautiful seaside Welsh village with the sole attraction being the cave on the beach, my only memories of then are running around on the beach and just purely enjoying myself. Robbie has really made me accept how important my friends are and to get in tune with myself a lot. I love this man so much and I owe him so much Edit: I’ll see you in the crowd at eventuim apollo in like 6 hours I’m so excited

Listening to cavetowns music or watching anything to do with him is very important to me. He's helped me thro my personal journey of identity and his music been very important to me and will always be so special to me. As a queer autistic trans kid I often feel quite left out and listening to cavetown really reminds me that I'm not alone and I do feel like I have a community or at least someone looking out for me

Best thing he identified in this talk is the fact that when people find an artist who they love and connect with, they want the artist to connect with them as much as they to the artist. So Robbie really wants to give his audience that experience, the sense that he sees and appreciates them as clearly as they do him. Such a profound thing to realize. When I was in my 20's I was completely enamored by Elliot Smith (still am). And one of the HARDEST truths was that being he had past away, there was no way he could ever connect to me, that he could ever see how he influenced me and what he made me feel. I suffered a long time because of this, shed a lot of tears. Robbie can for-see this happening with his fans and he knows it to be true because he was that kid once. Such wisdom in this guy. I may be a 38 year old mom, but I can still connect to him and his music as if it' speaking to a deeper part of myself. just lovely.

I went to his concert at Netherlands a day after this interview and it was really really cool I have been waiting for the concert for a year even tho I couldn’t personally meet him it was everything I hoped for and definitely more. It was a day that I know I’ll be cherish all my life
