I took a long break from cavetown after my friend passed away two years ago.. When she passed away, I found some comfort in Cavetown’s music. But shortly after, I dug myself deeper into a hole where I wanted to go unnoticed- the world felt so different without her, yet everything stayed the same. I’ve been trying to build myself back up to listen to Cavetown’s music again because I really did love it. But it will likely always make me think of my friend.

I lost my dog suddenly two weeks ago, every time I hear this song it just reminds me of him so much. I’m also convinced that he had passed away, he was an old dog. I remember that he would always bark at fireworks and on the first day of July... (Canada day) This year was the very first year in a very long time that I had never heard him bark, then from that moment I just knew that he had passed away. This song...just something about it. It makes me feel so calm and nostalgic, though I think the nostalgia mainly comes from the fact that I listened to this all night when I was trying to get to bed in an Airbnb with my mom, older sister, friend, and her mom. My friend and I slept together in the same room and I remembered I had troubles sleeping so I decided to listen to Cavetown quietly from my headphones until they ran out of battery. I'm pretty sure that that was also the day this song went live. Since I was younger then, I don't think I knew how to or was able to make a playlist on RU-vid so I could listen to Robbie's songs on it, so my sister offered to make a public playlist on her channel so I could listen to them whenever I'd like. I've always found comfort in Robin's songs, and I don't think there's anything better than that distinct feeling each and every one of them give you. Whether it's a collab, a cover, or just a solo. I thought that this was the perfect collaboration. Pretty, yellow-haired Tessa Violet with Cavetown and his cute little mullet. The way Tessa's old-fashioned dress flowed, to the sweet, little red overalls worn by Robbie. They were just adorable, and they both looked so free. In that forest and warm, sunny landscape, swinging around and dancing. Why, it seemed so nice. Now, at 12:25a.m., I'd give anything just to feel that warmth. And, no, I don't mean literal warmth. I mean that old, fuzzy feeling you get when you listen to this song. You can feel it, can't you? It's all nice and relaxing and it makes you want to just be happy and roll around in a big field of daisies. Doesn't it? I wish I could do that, I really do. Some days I just wished I were alone so that I could do whatever I want. No one to judge me, nor say one word. Everything would be quiet and the only sounds you could hear were birds politely chirping, the wind whistling softly, and maybe you could even hear the sun saying, "Ahh, it's so relaxing out here.
