Nice vid AMC, thanks! I bought some SW-Motech Blaze panniers when I had a Ducati...toured with them and loved 'em. I bought them after your review and they lived up to expectations. When I swapped to an S1000RR I bought the fittings so I can still use the panniers. Highly recommended!

You’re becoming the Inspector Gadget of Honda touring there Andy. I love the idea of that light weight luggage. When touring on my GS with all three vario panniers & generally my wife, I’ve certainly got a load on board (just in case my wife reads this, no I don’t mean you). The panniers alone weigh about 13 odd kegs! Before filling so your new kit seems a marvellous idea. Enjoy your work matey, & love seeing footage of Germany. Cheers👍🏍🇦🇺

Hi Andy. I really do like the CB1000R, Honda did a great job blending an ultra modern bike with some subtle classic lines. It looks a fantatstic bike to be out on and i can imagine the buzz it gives 'you' the rider, so its great that these videos show how its possible to throw a few bits of kit at the Honda (and therefore any bike) and make it a perfectly suitable tourer. And when your 'tour' is over its a quick change and back to the nimble roadster. The enjoyment of tour videos includes 'Who', 'Where' and 'What bike'. There are already enough vloggers touring on "Gee ess's" that they run the risk of diluting our interest.
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 3 года назад
Thanks mate! I’ve always thought that it’s more about the bike you want to have when you get to the twisties. Rather than the compromise you make on way. I’d rather have a bit of windblast and need to stop more often on the way, and then have that nimble roadster when i get there! Touring so far on this bike has been a pleasure and i see no need to be trading it ‚up‘ to a BMW battleship any time soon!! 😎👍🏻

I like most of the sw motech stuff you have Andy, easy and hassle free additions to the bike. Having been a massive Givi fan myself I have to say your tank bag is one hassle for sure, with mine it's one slide of a lock and its off. I'm definitely trying out their cushion seat, that's a needs must for sure. Awesome vids as ever though and can't wait to see you're next instalment venturing around. ride safe mate.
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 4 года назад
Cheers Chris. I half agree on the tankbag thing. I was really sad when I found out that they didn't do a tankring for my bike. But it wasn't enough to not get the bike though! I'm not overly enamoured with the strap tankbag, but I'm actually very pleasantly surprised with the magnetic one. The size is surprisingly useable and the magnets (it uses LOTS of small magnets, rather than a few big ones, so it adheres to the curves of the tank very well) have shown no signs of budging at any point. The cushion is a real godsend on the longer journeys! And cheaper than an Airhawk too!
@BordersBasher
@BordersBasher 4 года назад
AndyManCam i love the magnetic idea one, as you say for day to day I bet it’s perfect. I have the biggest givi tank bag and for anything over a night away and it’s perfect. I can definitely vouch for fitting handguards. I fitted a pair of cheap generic Chinese specials to my naked bike, along with some Oxford Hotgrips, and they were an absolute godsend during in the winter. In my opinion, the best accessories you can fit to any bike when the temperature drops!
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 3 года назад
I totally agree. These guards were an absolute godsend over the winter months!
@soulrebelno1
@soulrebelno1 3 года назад
@@AndyManCam You need some heated grips as well. The Oxford grips are very good, they have nine levels, and they get really hot - too hot sometimes - perfect for Teutonic winter! There are also the Daytona heated grips, which have a built-in switch, and are a neater solution, but I don't know how good they are. I'd never be without heated grips and handguards these days!
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 3 года назад
Totally agree! If you check out the wider bars for CB1000R video, I actually fitted the Daytona heated grips. I had some problems and they were replaced by the distributor, but I'm still not 100% convinced about their longevity. I've got the Oxford grips on the shelf for when the Daytonas give up the ghost!
@soulrebelno1
@soulrebelno1 3 года назад
@@AndyManCam I've had my Oxford heated grips for a while now, and they've been great. They've been excellent over the winter in conjunction with the handguards, very toasty! I did originally wire them directly to the battery, but then I bought a INNOVV Power Hub2 distribution module, and was extremely happy when I noticed that the grips suddenly started to remember their previous state! I now don't have to remember to turn them on the next time I get on the bike, because they remember the last setting. There's some sort of electrickery going on, I think it's because of the ten second start up and shut down delay - back of the net!

I definetly prefer the old desing of the bigger tank bag with the outer rain cover. Not only you can put any water sensitive stuff in the outer side pockets but also you lose the convinience of using all the pratical internal side pockets and the cover net pocket since none of these are protected...
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 3 года назад
Each to their own i suppose. I much prefer the idea of having things already inside of a waterproof bag. I hate having to stop and put on the rain cover! Plus the waterproof bag method means that the rain cover isn’t taking up any space inside the tankbag. Also anything that needs to be protected from rain in the side pockets, i just also put into plastic bags.

I have the same side bag racks but I've chosen soft bags. The zip is a very questionable solution on the side case. Not only it can be open in a second using a pen, but also if you drop the bike most probably the zip will be damaged and it may not close anymore. Soft bags for the same system are better i think, but they don't have an inside lock to prevent usage of the quick release mechanism.
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 3 года назад
Horses for courses i suppose. I like the lockable feature and needing a pen to get into my bags is one extra tool than is needed to get into the soft bags! 😜. TBH if i drop the bike, the zip on the panniers would be the last of my worries!
@Ringer1982
@Ringer1982 3 года назад
@@AndyManCam Haha, also true. At least in your case the bag itself will more likely stay. Regarding dropping - imagine you had stuff there and there is no place to put it anymore. Dropping the bike is not always that big of a deal if you have crash bars.

Andy, I really like the saddlebags and the minimal rack system. I think it would look great on my Suzuki v-strom 650. However I already have a magnetic tank bag that I hate and don't trust. The tour tankbag is huge and would look silly, can you suggest a stap on version in a smallish size?
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 4 года назад
The Racks are great. Really happy with them. I have been very pleasantly surprised with this magnet tank bag. It has loads of small magnets, rather than a few big ones. Seems to fit to the tank really well and holds solid. Agreed that the large bag is a bit too big for anything less than a round the world trip! Not sure what the in between Option would be. Maybe check out the Legend gear range?
@user-sw2lv3zp6o
@user-sw2lv3zp6o 4 года назад
I prefer Hepco & Becker. Their 22L Orbit cases are better than these SW-Motech one. Zips can fail and they leak anyway. And the bags don't half look flimsy. But you got your stuff free, so I don't blame you. Nice tank bag for those with metal tanks. 6 / 9 litres is perfect. If I get a bike with a metal tank, I'll get one.
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 4 года назад
Whatever works for you. Far too big heavy and clunky for me! I’m really happy with these ones. Bit of Goldilocks going on as they’re just the right size, rigidity, weight and function for what i want. If i‘d had to, I’d have probably bought these myself. The tankbag is indeed perfect. I really prefer it over the larger bag. Just big enough for everything that’s important. And if it didn’t fit, then it wasn’t important!

Nice setup Andy. Only one thing made me take pause, the outlet of your exhaust looks like it would blast hot gases onto your lovely new pannier. Having seen how good nylon is at dealing with heat, you might want to give that a dry run before heading off on one of your tours. Hopefully it's nothing. All the best! 👍
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 4 года назад
Cheers Christopher. Seems to be all good. The wide angle probably distorts the distance between, but there's plenty of clearance. Also the boxes are ABS hard plastic, so a tiny bit more resistant than nylon. That said, I've gone back to the stock can for vibratory reasons, and that has a much shallower angle, so double OK!

Andy, how would you say the performance of this bike rates in the real world? Sure, thrash a fireblade, superduke, or tuono to within an inch of their lives and they will be faster fullstop. But, in terms of accessible, useable power how do you rate the CB?
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 3 года назад
It’s perfect James. I find it’s got more than enough power and it feels like it pulls smoothly from all revs. It’s the most enjoyable bike to ride that I’ve ever owned. 👍🏻 Plus riding with folks on Tuonos and superdukes, I’ve never felt like I’m being left behind.
