Took the CB500X off-road for another adventure exploring some great new single track when I was told about a dog missing in the mountains, it was a good spin and I found a few people looking for the dog and met the owner.

Hey Trevor, another thoroughly enjoyable video and glad it had a happy ending re. the dog. Two questions: 1- How's the suspension holding up on those rocky sections? Did it bottom out much? 2- How do you find your way around all those little trails? Are they marked on Google Maps? Looks like a maze out there. Stay safe, Kerry Ps. Flying home to Ireland in 2 weeks to do my full motorbike licence test on 24th May. Finally! Looking forward to moving up from the 125cc. Fingers crossed. 🤞

Hi Kerry, thank you for the comment glad you enjoyed the video. The suspension is doing well so far, I don't carry much extra weight on the bike when I'm off-road and I got the suspension set for hard riding so it does not bottom out and I try to under weigh the bike before I hit things (most of the time) I don't use maps I just head out and try to remember some landmarks to give me a rough idea of where I am. Just keep turning left works as well 😂. Best of luck with your test I'm sure you will be fine. Ride safe Trevor

Glad you were able to find the dog. I've lost my cat and best little buddy late Monday night and have been searching all day and night since. Not quite how I wanted to break-in the 500X but it's been rather handy for searching some areas.

Hi Thirsty Fox, thank you for the comment, at least you got to ride the bike during your search for the cat so it's not all bad.

I continue to be inspired by what you are able to do on the cbx...this bike continues to be my default choice for a future long overlanding journey I'm planning for.....

Hi Rolling Pebble, thank you for the comment good to hear from you again. The bike works well for me both on and off-road, I will be bringing it to Morocco later in the year so plenty overlanding to come. Hope your trip goes well. Thanks for watching

@@solomotoadventures keep up the great content man. Yeah I don’t think I’d cope on the big bikes. 300 is plenty big 🤣

Have you had any problems whit the cbx ? you are testing the limits of the bike. it would be interesting to know what the weakest link is ? i heard the bolts where the frame and motor meet (in the front) have given some people problems. But you shure tested them when jumping tree logs :-)

Hi Peter, thank you for the comment, no issue with the frame and motor but it was something I was a little worried about before I got the bike, but the rally raid bash plate goes onto the frame so it adds a little extra support. The weakest link so far is me, the more I ride it the more I like the bike. You can always be unlucky with a bike but so far so good. Thanks for watching. Trevor

Hi Trevor, love your vids👌I've got the 2020 version with the RR kit on & I love it🙂my only gripe offroading is the ground clearance, I've had to straighten the RR bash plate out a few times😬don't understand why they constructed it with two pieces of sheet metal. Can I ask what tyre pressures you're running on that rocky ground?
@solomotoadventures
@solomotoadventures 2 года назад
Hi Dwayne, thank you for the kinds words and your comment. Since I changed the front wheel to a 19" and put the level 2 RR kit on I found the ground clearance to be OK. I still abuse the bash plate but that's just off-road riding especially in rocky areas. I'm not a fan of chaning tyre pressure so I put the Anakee Wild tires on (they say to set the pressure to the manufacturers recommendation and leaving it regardless of the terrain) It has worked well so far for me. Thanks for watching Trevor

@@solomotoadventures yeah I think that's probably the best idea to leave the tyre pressures alone😉To be honest, I've only bottomed the bash plate when I've been going a bit too fast over bumpy ground🤣so my fault😁I need to accept that it's not a dual sport bike, but the engine is sooo sweet it makes you want to push it sometimes😋cheers bud.
