If you aren't drawing these designs out ahead of time and just fabricating as you go, you are not only a fabricator, you are also an artist!!!

I’m looking at a full top end rebuild on my CBR 919 engine. Had water in it as well. Was able to get it pretty cheap it’s just repairing what damage has been done. Needs all new clutch plates, the clutch basket, cylinders need honing, new piston rings, wiring harness needs to be made from scratch or just use the old one, etc. once I get that right I’ll start modifying the existing buggy frame I have for the motor. Love your channel. Get a lot of inspiration from you 👍

@Reman1975
@Reman1975 4 года назад
I'm liking the look of the swept forward top wishbones. Don't think I've ever seen that before. There's something quite purposeful about that style. I still think you should one day build a rear engine buggy using the power train from a small front wheel drive car though. If you found an older car with points ignition and a carburettor it would be pretty much a self contained unit that you just needed to pipe fuel and power into, then 4 or 5 wires to make it start and stop. You'd have a reverse gear as standard too. If you made it with 2 seats, enough room for various engine options, and brakes all round so it can be made road legal, you might even be able to sell the plans and the rights to build them to a kit car company.
@danielleheiget4517

You taught me a new technique Chris!!! I absolutely dig the shit out of using the piece of sheet to keep everything flat while you tack it. Funny how long I've been a mechanic/fabricator and NEVER thought of that. This is my favorite project of yours by far. Love the dimensions and design its gonna be badass. By the way, you can look up ways to simplify all the vacuum lines. Plug unnecessary openings and put breathers on openings that vent the crank case. I recommend doing a catch can instead of the PCV, you're gonna need it trust me. K&N makes an aftermarket air box for all superbikes, maybe look into that as far as the garbage you probably dont need on the OEM box. It's all emission bullshit anyway. It's easy, you're an extremely intelligent dude you can figure that shit out I have faith. If you would have bought an R1 engine I could tell you absolutely everything you would ever need to know. I've owned 7 R1s. I have a 2018 R1m right now and it's by far the most incredible motorcycle in the world. I smoke every other liter bike and all I have is full graves race exhaust, intake, and a chip. It makes 219 whp at 4370 feet above sea level. Plus it sounds like a really high revving V8. Spits flames between shifts and everything it's so badass.

Rather B: Nah, I'll figure it out later, after I get this suspension done. Love your builds dude. Oh by the way, besides the fact that you really should brush up on shop safey... you might try some corn starch (about a teaspoon) and a couple drops of water, make a paste and put it on that burn. It's a little something I learned in the kitchen. Works great on the wife's leg after she lets her leg touch the pipes on the Honda Shadow ACE I used to have. It's good stuff to keep around the shop. I've had a few welding burns. A while back I ended up with a sot of rash on my forearms from MIG splatter. I knew it was burning me, but it was not bad enough to stop... Or so I thought. Of course it got worse with time, but did not actually get infected which is what I thought was going to happen. Anyway, I got some of those leather sleeves from Bangood for about $20, and together with gloves and the apron I wear as a matter of course, I have not been burnt since. (Touch wood) I loved the wooden template/jig btw.

Excellent work, man! I like the front end design. I've never liked that shape for the cage overall but, that's just me. (It'll work just fine) Oh yeah.. Using the stock airbox is always going to be better if you can. They make better torque than pod filters. And, make a set of low profile side tanks for either side of the seat. It'll look cool and hold a substantial amount of fuel. (Gotta run a fuel pump anyway, so....) Just my 2 cents...

The vacuum pipes are for air ducts that open valves/solenoids and for map sensor. Use the original fuel tank and mount it as it would be on the bike, just behind the airbox, no need to worry about fuel pump/pipes then. Do you have original ignition/key/ecu, they are all coded (HISS). I have rebuilt these engines, the new engine did more than fall over the break like that, have repaired many crash damaged bikes but not seen damage on that part of the engine. Hopefully the top end is ok. Why do you not put a spacer between the bearings on the front hub so you can tighten the spindle fully like on a motorcycle wheel/hub?
