thatsucks , having it all together and "ready" just for it to throw a minor tantrum. best of luck investigating. hopefully you have it figured out by now considering we are 10 days down the line :) appreciate the videos. thumbs up from norway .
Bike looks great John, and my zx6r is doing exactly the same thing I take the whole clutch out it stops I put a perfect working spare in and makes the same noise so at the moment I'm stumped
I'm 90% sure it's the cam chain tensioner chap. I know you primed it which is good but did you PROPERLY clean it? What you want is that tensioner arm to FREELY and SMOOTHLY move all the way up and down without catching. Pull the bastard out and soak it in petrol for coupe of hours and keep "pumping" that arm every now and again until all gunk flushes out from it. I've just done it on mine and it literally cured the rattle. My rattle was quite nasty and loud and sounded just like yours. It's a fairly easy job chap, carbs and airbox can stay untouched, just need to remove the intake cam and CCT will come out easily. All the best buddy, lovely bike btw.
I would check and balance the carbs, then check the springs in the clutch basket. How disappointing for you mate. I know how it feels. On a brighter note the old landfill abomination looks very pretty now. Hey do you play in the background music and is there any full tracks online to listen too? or buy? Good luck in the next video.
Thanks bob I was thinking it was the balance shaft. Luckerly I have a spare complete clutch. Fingers crossed that's the problem.. I did do 2 or 3 tracks on here a couple of years ago bohemian rhapsody was one of them. But I mostly use music from the RU-vid library do to the copyrights. 👍
Does the noise go away when the clutch lever is pressed in Johnny? Like someone has said, it does sound like clutch springs like they are loose. Get them off and measure them against the book. Fingers crossed it nowt major 🤞🤞🤞 🙏
Do you think you will be able to sort out the rattle ? If it coming from the clutch housing it could be a broken clutch spring or springs. Hopefully nothing more serious
@@jonyr1TT gday, as you know being an old fossil like me, and knowing the diffence between a left or right handed screwdriver..., pulling in the clutch should stop basket clatter on most bikes. I would start balancing carbs first before getting the spanners onto it. If you can get it to idle smooth like a clock your problems "might" be solved. Also, as a side note I owned this very model and it had 130,000kms on it and ran as smooth as silk, watching your restoration is making me miss the old girl.
Lol to late the clutch is already out but tbh I can't really find any loose or free play. I'll probably remove the basket at some point in the week and change the complete clutch over.. 👍 this is my third 1000F. Great fun bikes to ride 👍
@@jonyr1TT Yeah hope that sorts it. Checked all the rubber tubes for cracks etc, plug leads, Coils? without pulling the motor out I think you really want to check all the external stuff. Good luck.
