As one of the people who designed Men’s story for TNO, I greatly appreciate this. Funnily enough, the unique biblical writing style in many of his events was a result of misunderstood instructions in the writing team. Basically the initial intent was for Men himself to not be front and center in the events, but rather the community of peasants that fanatically "follow" him but really drag him along largely out of his control once his realm grows too large for everyone to have personally met him. The "idea" of The Father would be separate from the "man" Alexander Men. In the latter type of events, stories were supposed to be evocative of biblical allegories and parables. Men’s struggle with his public persona of The Father disrupting his personal pious lifestyle was supposed to be the central theme of his story. The player would be encouraged to reflect on the nature of principles of faith versus needs of survival. Yet somewhere in the pipeline all this was miscommunicated and the writers literally wrote his events as Bible passages, a bit less subtle than we were trying for.

The Divine Mandate is far holier than the Holy Russian Empire.

I wish there were paths in TNO that allowed reasonable leaders to unite their factions. Imagining a path where Sablin and Men have a conference and a long negotiation to see if they could resolve their differences. Maybe allow one of the factions to become a client state of the other in return for other concessions.

Even as an athiest it's refreshing to see a Renaissance of sorts of respectable religious characters (Men here or Joshua Graham in Fallout) even (or especially) if you still disagree/fight against them.
