“The Columbia Broadcasting System”. Pure Americana. Everyone in America knows the CBS eye and the iconography. You’d have to have been born under a rock not to recognize it. This is a nice compilation. 👍🏻
This logo evolution is fascinating and nostalgic! Our family was largely an NBC household, as my father was an on-air person and news writer for an NBC affiliate. But by the '70s we watched plenty of CBS at night, because they had all the best sitcoms from 1973 onward. MTM, All in the Family, M*A*S*H, Bob Newhart. No better programs anywhere.
I was in grade school when MTM Show premiered. When we weren’t out of town to visit my Grandma over the weekend, we’d be watching CBS on Saturday nights. MTM, Bob Newhart and Carol Burnett. Plus, the local CBS affiliate for local news. All the while, snacking on popcorn and jelly beans. Being a kid was fun in my house.
*EXECPT WHEN ''PBS'' SAYS THE SAME THING AS THEY DO IN 1970, (along with what it stands for) 1989, 1993, 1996, AND 1998! (1996 and 1998 have the same voiceover-recording.)*
*MY FAVORITE PBS LOGO WHERE YOU HEAR ''THIS IS PBS'' IS THE 1998 PBS LOGO~ WHERE PEOPLE ARE LIFTING UP THE PBS DISC: AND MY FAVORITE PBS LOGO IN GENERAL IS THE ONE FROM 1971, WHICH IS THE LONGEST USED PBS LOGO EVER USED!*
WHDH TV CHANNEL 7 BOSTON WAS THE PLACE FOR CBS FOR MANY YEARS, UNTIL WBZ TV 4 TOOK OVER IN 1995. FIRST SHOW: DR. QUINN, MEDICINE WOMAN, A SHOW THAT NBC HAD RIDICULED FOR 2 YEARS. WBZ HAS GROWN INTO A MUCH STRONGER CBS AFFILIATE SINCE THEN, KENNETH HUANG 1/21/23.
#300 is coming up and it's gonna be WGBH BOSTON/GBH LOGO HISTORY!!! Also do Jim Henson Productions and Buena Vista/Disney-ABC Domestic Television as well
