Foreigner's Mick Jones sits down with Anthony Mason to discuss his illustrious career, featured on CBS Sunday Morning on Sunday, December 28th, 2014. www.cbsnews.com...
when Mick starts giving Lou the credit he deserves (especially for 'i wanna know what love is') and admit how Foreigner was big because of Lou,,i'll give some real props
I couldn't agree more! How do you not give credit to the person who fronted your band and wrote some of the biggest songs with you that were recorded. He seems to forget that without Lou Gramm Foreigner would not have been the band that they were!😮...
A decent guitarist could play Mick's part, but they couldn't write them. Mick is no EVH, but he is a hell of a songwriter and producer (and his son is no slouch either!) :) But yeah, Lou is absolutely amazing too...
@iracemadealmeida8579 That's not what happened (1) Lou Gramm made his solo albums READY OR NOT-LONG HARD LOOK because Mick rejected those tunes from being put on Foreigner albums. MIDNIGHT BLUE was trashed by Mick as "NOT a good song. Lou put it on his album it charted at #5 on Billboard and was the most listened to and requested song 🎵 on American radio in 1987. (2) Lou left in 2003 for good because of disagreements with Jones and mostly Jones alcoholism 🍸. Kelly Hansen had nothing to do with their issues. Hansen tried out for Foreigner in 1990 but the band chose JOHNNY EDWARDS (UNUSUAL HEAT 1991) over Hansen and Mark Free (KING KOBRA)
Now that's what I'm talking about... Mick Jones was session guitarist playing on other people's records before he formed Foreigner! And ask Lou Gramm to come down off a roof (Lou was working construction at the time) & be his lead singer, rumor has it that Lou said no several times he had a bad experience & didn't want to go back to music. Foreigner would never have gotten where they are without Lou Gramm!
Absolutely.....it's a TRAVESTY that Mick ultimately gave Lou 0% credit for this song. He walked away with $Millions of dollars in song writing credit and Lou got NOTHING for his contribution. GREED is a horrible thing and Mick let it ruin a friendship and a song writing partnership. THAT is what Mick Jones will FOREVER be known for....that will be his LEGACY. PERIOD!
@@ronedee obviously none of us will never know, we weren't there and part of it.... but I believe Lou Gramm's version of events (that Mick took 95% of songwriting credit for that song).
@@emhezmfe Yes, we only know what we are told! In most things in Life. Mick first offered 20%. And when Lou wanted 40%, and Mick felt insulted (I'm assuming) and came back with 5%. Lou told him to keep it all. This is the only song there was an issue with out of hundreds that they wrote. And if you listen to Lou in other videos, which I have heard/seen several he said Mick wrote many of the songs and Lou, "added to them". We don't know the dynamics of the situation, as you correctly pointed out. But, It doesn't take a Sherlock Holmes to put the bits & pieces together.
@@StephenDoty84 Actually Lou didn't quit Foreigner until after the Inside Information tour . Lou was so fed up with Mick Jones' control that Lou not only hated "I don't want to live without you " he hated the album and refused to tour . Bud Prager had talked Lou into touring but in 1990 Lou got the hell out of Dodge. He left because even after his solo albums: READY OR NOT (1987) and LONG HARD LOOK (1989) were both successful , Mick Jones still refused to let Lou get his song ideas on even the next Foreigner album which they were planning. But Lou left and Johnny Edwards was brought in and the result was the album UNUSUAL HEAT , which failed because (1) In 1991, Album oriented Rock was no longer welcomed (2) The takeover of Grunge and Gansta RAP (3) Mick knew this but brought Lou back and "Mr.Moonlight (1994) did much worse than Unusual Heat. (5) Kelly Hansen has no hits either , just a tribute singer living off Lous legacy and work plus Hansen gets paid more than Lou ever did for performing the classic hits that Lou helped create.
@@waltersimmons946 = As for regards to (3), record sales count for "Jack" (fuck-all) Crazy Frog held Coldplay's "Speed of Sound" off the top spot - Worse yet was the Joe Dolce Vita novelty song that kept Ultravox & Midge Ure off the No.1 slot in England - Yet both those novelty songs were $hit. Plenty of GREAT tracks on the 1994 "Mr.Moonlight" album, at least FIVE tracks match their best. I only stumbled onto that album purely by chance, when visiting the UK's largest stationers & bookstore. Certainly was never given much (any?) publicity over here, although "White Lie" was played. I'm a lifelong hardcore Foreigner fan & grew-up buying/listening/adoring their first four albums. Even I thought they'd broken-up by 1994 - (Remember folks, no internet back then, as such, or barely) Agreeing with ya as regards to (2) Feel you're being VERY harsh as regards to (5) = I mean WTF is Kelly supposed to do ?????? He sings well (GREAT) - see below.... Let's face facts - Foreigner will NEVER recapture the glory days of 1978-1985 again, regardless. Mick did what Brian did (with Queen) & kept HIS band going I'd MUCH rather they all woulda "hung up their spurs", but they didn't - Their call Lou was NEVER gonna match the dizzy heights of his best, esp' after his Brain tumour episode (etc) Kelly DOES NOT deserve the (unnecessary) FLAK that he gets from so-called 'fans' (who aren't true) Bands AGE & line-ups change, 'cest la vie I thought Genesis turned $HIT when Peter Gabriel left & then Steve Hackett too The 'cheese pop' synth era of Phil Collins sucked anus, big time, so I bailed on 'em My only regret about Foreigner was, that "others" view "I Wanna Know" etc as their pinnacle For me, I MUCH prefered the hard-hitting Foreigner of earlier years, esp' with Ian McDonald (RIP) BTW = I absolutely LOVE Lou Gramm (platonically speaking), but he's past his prime, sadly (vocally)
@Hawny Fox I'm really not against Kelly Hansen, but as good a singer he's proven to be. He really should have had a few hits of his own. You mentioned Lou was past his prime? I agree, but Hansen came into the band almost near 45 years old (He was 44 in 2005) . The radio establishment stops playing or promoting bands like Styx, Boston , Foreigner, Journey, etc. Once the band members hit 40 yrs old. They're dismissed as relics and reduced to classic rock status played on classic rock stations. So I wasn't being hard on Kelly he came into Foreigner way past his prime, and now he's 61 and has admitted the Foreigner song catalog is harder to sing because of his age. I really respect his honesty, but he should've some had hits of his own. Jason Scheff, who replaced Peter Cetera came into Chicago's band at 23 yrs old and he actually had a few hits of his own but Jason was in his prime, though eventually Chicago also got older and was reduced to classic rock status. Mr. Moonlight, I knew when it came out it wasn't gonna go far because it didn't rock like Unusual Heat with Johnny Edwards, which charted even better than Mr. Moonlight. Also, Mr. Moonlight didn't have that fire like Foreigners' first four albums before "I want to know what love is " came out on their fifth album. Lou singing was great on "Moonlight," but the songwriting partnership of JONES/GRAMM died when Lou left Foreigner in 1990. Like fast food once it gets cold, you reheat it, but somehow it doesn't taste the same.
@@waltersimmons946 Think we (you & I), disagree on the "died in 1990" bit - (songwriting partnership) I'm absolutely astonished that "Mr.Moonlight" contained as many 'Good/Strong/Fine' songs as it did Sure there's a couple of turds on there (Big Dog anyone ?) & some mystifying 45rpm choices too. "Hole In My Soul" alone is worth the admission price on it's own - Great track, soulful & powerful. "I Keep Hoping" is both VERY emotional & powerful & sees Lou again at his finest. I often wonder "if" that's the best track on a strong album (?) but there are at least SIX tracks I like. Tracks 1,2,4,5,8,9 - Any one of those is as strong as their earlier stuff, albeit 1994 You mentioned "classic rock stations" For ME they ARE the death knell of Rock Music - same $hit day-in, day-out Only so many times you can hear "Won't Get Fooled Again" or the dreaded "Hotel California" I believe radio listeners in the USA have FAR better tastes than the idiots over THIS side of the Atlantic Yeah sure, we have Rock Music fans here too, but far too many are like sheep, staple diet, etc. It actually grieves me that "Mr.Moonlight" went below the radar - (more like a submariner !!!) Lastly, for me, Mick Jones' propensity for the sickly ballard was like taking Mogadon (listening to..) That's as to 'why' Mr.Moonlight album pleased me so much, well-crafted songs again (but publicly ignored Best track on "Inside Information" (for me) was the raunchy & superb track "The Beat of My Heart" It restored my faith (1987) that Foreigner could still deliver the torpedoes to hit-hard-as-nails (antidote to the lame & dreary "I Don't Wanna Live" - oh the irony of those first four-words !!!!) But at least (here in London), Atlantic actually bothered promoting "Inside Information" (billposters) That clearly didn't happen in the U.K for 1994's "Mr.Moonlight" & I'll assume the same for the U.S.A ??
I went to see Foreigner because of Lou Gramm. He always sung down from his heart and with such energy which was unbelievable. I went nuts when they played feels like the first time and head games.
Gramm claims Jones ripped him off out of millions from not giving him a songwriting credit on "I Want to Know What Love Is." I believe him. That's why Gramm split.
He also ripped Lou off on "URGENT " and "Waiting for a girl like you " song ratio on that one Mick 75% Lou 25%. Trouble began before "I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS" was a thought.
Jones had some falling out with one of the bogus R&R Hall of Fame principals/owners. "R&R Hall of Fame" started by some businessmen/investors. Credibility? Just a $TOURIST ATTRACTION.
3:50...I don't think Mick Jones realizes..had it not been for his great fortune of getting Lou Gramm as singer...that song and band he put together would have gone nowhere.
@Farang Explorer Actually the Jones/ Gramm writing "partnership" started to fade when the band went from 6 to 4 people. According to Lou Gramm the writing credits ratio between the 2 (men) were mostly 50/50 up until the HEAD GAMES Album, remember original band members Ian McDonald and Al Greenwood were ousted because they really were trying to get more of their songs on the albums and Jones was already very controlling even back then. McDonald' and Greenwood were still members of the band when work started on the 4 album till their firings in September 1980. During the 4 album problems over songwriting ratios/ credit began actually over the song "URGENT" but manifest more with "I want to know what love is" Lou was offered only 5% and Mick gave himself 95% but Lou told Mick out of anger "Take it all you SOB, and Mick did, he took the whole 100% that lead to Lou's SOLO Albums and Solo career . "Midnight Blue" was offered to the band but Mick trashed and rejected the song Lou put the song out as a SOLO tune, it shot up the charts, to number#5 and was the most requsted/listen to song on American radio in 1987. Inside Information, Lou didnt like the album and never pulled his punches about, "I dont want to live without you" he hated the song and Farang , theres no live concerts or videos ever of Lou performing that tune. The reason why they couldnt come up with current catchy song it's because the magic they had to create had long faded and Lou said this when he quit Foreigner again in 2003 and also bands like Foreigner, Journey, Styx, Toto etc . By 1994 they were regulated to CLASSIC Rock stations so mainstream radio was under orders to play/promote new bands GRUNGE/GANSTA RAP so New songs by these CLASSIC bands didn't have a chance. So Kelly Hansen? God bless him but hes a karaoke tribute singer thats paid to sing live, they won't sell millions of albums anymore even with him up front.
Man, when you hear classic Foreigner it takes you back. Back when bands was full of talent that entertained us all. Back when you rolled the window down on the Trans am, turned the volume to 10 and sang along. The 70's and 80's were full of many greats. Foreigner ranks at the top. Great video. Enjoyed!
+Terri Geer Kelly is a good vocalist, no question, but I'll bet he was told to nail Lou's phrasing because it is so legendary. Kelly sounds so much like Lou and I don't believe it is coincidental.
+VIDEOHEREBOB Hello (again) Bob on most vocal stuff i agree with you but not on this, Kelly doesn't sound anything like Lou. And he will never ''nail Lou's phrasing''.
According to Lou, his reason for leaving the band was because Mick had gotten too difficult to work with and now Mick has big regrets, but I'm glad he lived to play again, especially with his old buddy Lou. I loved everything they did until Lou left the band
Koto ? Lou , I thought had put all his grievances with Mick behind him , not so it seems. Since the 40th Reunion in 2017. Lous been doing interviews this year with John Beaudin "Rock History" which can be seen on RU-vid. Lou is as bitter as ever about Mick Jones taking the whole 100% ratio writing credits for "I want to know what love is" he said he never got a penny for even singing that song . He was also unhappy with Kelly Hansen when they shared the stage , saying Hansen "Talked too much " by not letting Lou take any opportunity to speak to the fans and personally thanking them for coming to the reunion concert.
I graduated high school in 1979. I own every Foreigner album from that time period. My father was born in 1939 and wasn't exactly a fan of my music although he was a big Elvis fan. When I played for him "I want to know what love is " he cried. He said is was a beautiful song, I agree. His other favorite song of my generation was Kansas's "Dust in the wind ". My father is 80 now and suffering from dementia for the past 8 years. I played for him " I want to know what love is" just last week, again. He cried once more... I asked him if he knew what band that was and he thought about it for a minute, then said Foreigner? I cried. Thank you Foreigner and Mr. Jones for your music and wonderful memories with my dad.
Robert, you should watch "Alive Inside" a documentary by Dan Cohen, founder of the nonprofit organization Music & Memory. You can find it on Amazon. It tells of how music brings people 'back' from dementia if only for a while. You will NOT be disappointed, I promise.
It's horrifying to think any should suffer from Alzheimer's but could a person bring that person back for at least the duration of a 80's or 90's song no, only the mid to late 70's songs were made to last.
Lou Graham is one of the sexiest voices in rock history. It hurt when I found out he was ill. I was lucky enough to see him in concert when he was first coming back (but he wasn't with foreigner), but all I saw on stage was the beautiful man of his heyday. He was extraordinary, and I'm so happy to see him getting back into form. He is still magnificent. Love him as much as I ever did...... maybe a bit more because of his strength of character.
There's a really cool interview on YT where he goes in-depth and describes everything he went through with his brain tumor and what he had to do to start singing again. what got me looking into Lou's condition was unfortunately I was diagnosed in May with a brain Tumor myself . I'm 43 and I would listen to Foreigner on the way to all my doctor appointments . So one day I went on RU-vid being curious as to what the guys were up to recently , I found out the information about Lou. One of the things that I thought was very interesting as a believer and a Christian is that he shared his faith and explained how he turned his heart and life over to the Lord ( his exact words) and I thought that was pretty neat for a rock star to admit such a thing. It was cool and brave to see that he wasn't ashamed of King Jesus.
Not so cool. Do a little research and find out what he did to Lou Graham. He screwed the other band members out of millions. Took way more credit for songs that were not his. If I was in that band I would have smacked the greed out of him. What a selfish prick.
He didn't sing lead on his biggest hit, "I wanna know what love is." It was Lou Gramm. Mick was a greedy a-hole who cut Lou out of that song which broke up the band. F this guy.
Gee, Lou tells a very different story and how Lou never mentions him wanting to be a different style band, rather that Mick took credit for 100% of I Want to know what love is> I tend to believe Lou since it seems that Lou got nothing as far as credits for the song. If Mick is telling the truth here, why would he NOT refute all of Lou's claims on this??? To me, that is very telling. If they did what Rush did, and split the music credits and MONEY even, every song, not matter who wrote it, they probably never would have broken up, sad that when on person gets too greedy, this happens.
Mick Jones would be no where with out Lou! Lou's voice made Foreigner period. No offense to the new guy because he is good too but no male vocalist in that time period compares to Lou. Lou had so much more solo range in all melodies than anyone else in that time period. There is nothing a band can do to silence a voice like Lou's. It lives forever in our souls.
Thanks Mick and Lou my choir ( Anthony Morgan Inspirational Choir of Harlem AMICOH ) had a wonderful time on your reunion at the song writers Hall of Fame.
Jones may have put the band together. But Gramm was the main attraction. That new guy they replaced Gramm with doesn't cut it. He looks and sound like a reject from a cover band.
Man, they go way back, Early Foreigner was so exciting, and, I really have to say, it was always the voice, of Lou Gramm that made the group so recognizable. eh, I turned my back on the band after Mick Jones screwed Lou out of royalties for " I wanna know what love is". Imagine,, he took entire credit for that song, when most of us simply remember the strong vocals of probably their biggest hit ever. Mick got Greedy, I mean, anyone could have played the guitar on that song, he wasn't a maestro on guitar, but there was only one real Voice of Foreigner. Mr. Lou Gramm
With just that song "I want to know what love is" alone, there's no other legendary rock band can leave a lifetime legacy in history of Rock and Roll as the Foreigner, these guys are truly one of the legends along with the other greats, such as Journey or Queen..!
Mick is a great songwriter and has a great ear for pop hits as well but even he can hear that the new singer isn't Lou. Lou was a once in a generation singer with his own range and songwriting ability. It would be great to see them do a run of or series of 10 reunion concerts with the original lineup where they play the first album or all their hits. no one cars about lou's voice or micks playing they just want to see the real thing again one more time. My first rock concert was foreigner when they were at their peak and it ha a very real impact on me and my life. Thanks Mick and Lou for all the fun I've had listening to your music
Lou Gramm was right. They were getting too soft at the time. A shame really because the early stuff was amazingly great !!! And Lou is one of the greatest rock singers of all time!!!
I dunno. I'm a Lou Gramm fan. Lou has perfect pitch, a true rocker,THE most recognizable voice of the 70's, 80's 90's. Foreigner is nothing without Lou even though it was Mick's band to begin with. Mick refuses to give Lou the credit he deserves.
Lou did more than just sing in Foreigner. He's also the backing voice on Bryan Adam's song 🎵 CUTS LIKE A KNIFE , Lou refused to take any pay from helping out Adam's who was in a desperate situation to get his album done before the deadline because his studio singers got sick during the recording of his album.
I played in a band that fronted for Foreigner in Elizabethtown, Kentucky before Mick's illness. I can tell you that the version of Foreigner that night was absolutely stunning. They were the real deal. The only regret I have is that I was in such awe of this band that I didn't have the nerve to approach Mick and introduce myself and meet the rest of the guys in the band. If you ever get to see them I can promise you won't be disappointed.
Lou was Amazing but Mick Jones was really the quiet genius behind most of Foreigner's success. Great to see him still rocking after all these yrs. Btw, Mick has produced some great albums over the yrs including - Van Halen's 5150 (1986) and Billy Joel's Storm Front (1989). Also found out that his stepson is Mark Ronson - the musician who wrote the recent hit "Uptown Funk" and which featured vocals from Bruno Mars.
@@richardherzog5405 True. A great guitarist/songwriter needs a great singer in order to be successful (Mick/Keith/Brian Jones, Page/Plant and Townsend/Daltrey are the most famous examples of that), and vice versa.
Please lets not forget, Lou Gramm cowrote many of their hits and they wouldve had a much bigger catalog had some of the other original members been "allowed" to contribute more (Love has taken it toll, Zalia, Do what you like, Rev on the red line)songs Jones didnt write.
Seeing this geezer on a one way ticket from Squaresville introduce a rock and roll guy is hilarious. And it is most remarkable to see Lou Gramm, in his later age, looking rather like Peter Ustinov, & then hearing the bloody pristine, pitch-perfect powerful voice that comes out of him .
thank you mr mick and mr lou and foreigner.many good things from your songs.first heard ya over the radio in 1978,first lp head games then all my 80s life in school and under 21 dances in the summer.thumbs up to all
Went to see FOREIGNER, WhiteSnake and Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Evening last night (19 June 2018) at the Lakeside Amphitheater in Syracuse. Without Jason Bonham on the bill, I may have passed on this show. Glad he was there and that I didn't pass. AWESOME SHOW !!! If I didn't know Robert Plant's vocals, then the singer would have been plenty impressive. Whitesnake was filler for me .... Foreigner ROCKED THE HOUSE !! Had Bonham not been there and I knew the performance from FOREIGNER, I would surely have regretted missing this show !! Glad we went !! WORTH EVERY CENT and more !!
Saw the same show and feel so fortunate to see Mick on stage. I saw The original band at The Dome on the Foreigner 4 tour, one of the first concerts I had ever been to. Funny, thats my least favorite album as an adult, but man what a career Mick Jones has had.
Awe Mick thank you for sharing this...tears. Such a wonderful testimony here and I can't wait to see Foreigner live this week. So excited and happy for your comeback! ❤
So nice to hear an update on you Mick. You overcame some challenges... as Lou did... and it's great to see you both of you making strides forward and maintaining your careers, enjoying your gifts as well as continuing to share them with us. Hoping one day to see you in person. Just viewed your 78 performance of Cal Jam 78. Wow, what an experience that must have been.
Lou's vocals made Foreigner who they were. Shame on you for fleecing Lou and basically forcing him out of the group. Your greed will be a part of your legacy forever.
Terri Geer Mick Jones dropped out last year for health reasons and the band continued to tour which means you're seeing no one that played on the albums. What a joke.
You have a point yet but the new singer Kelly is world class and Lou Gramm would be proud of his singing. It's better to have a new ver. of Foreigner than no Foreigner at all right? A band can still carry on with a new singer and be great. YES did it, Black Sabbath did it, Genesis did it, etc. Sometimes they even put out a premo album of new material.
I’m glad Mick is healthy. Great songs, great musicianship. I graduated high school in 1984. I had two older sisters…..I heard so many great songs. One of the best groups of seventies and eighties….with that being said…..A huge part of Foreigners success? That huge big lead vocals coming out of that radio and cassettes. Lou….was a top vocalist. When I say top vocalist…..one of the top ten vocalist in those two decades. That say,s a lot.
I was a foreigner fan the minute I heard them. Biggest bands at that time for me were Foreigner, Boston, Journey, Eagles. So many hits and great music.
There is always that one guy in the band who has the talent and creativity to carry the rest to great success and Mick Jones is that cornerstone in Foreigner. Thank you for all the wonderful songs Mick! They have an will always continue to bless many for years to come.
Mick…so happy for you return to health. God bless. Thanks for the great albums. Thanks for saying something positive about Lou….great lead for your group.
Can't believe I missed this! Have loved Foreigner for 40 years, saw them play in StL. I think it's awesome our generation has had some of the world's best musicians putting out the best music, Ever! Keep rocking, Mick! Thanks for the wonderful memories 😎
They didn't fight over the groups direction They broke up because Mick screwed Lou out of his song writing share of I want to know what love is ... pure greed and pure sh*tbaggery
It's an absolute TRAVESTY that Mick ultimately gave Lou 0% credit for this song. He walked away with $Millions of dollars in song writing credits and Lou got NOTHING for his contribution. GREED is a horrible thing and Mick let it ruin a friendship and a song writing partnership. THAT is what Mick Jones will FOREVER be known for....that will be his LEGACY. PERIOD! Karma is a bitch.
Mick Jones offered Lou only 5% of the song I Wanna Know What Love Is. Lou had a BIG PART IN THAT SONG. That's why Lou LEFT the band, Mick is a JERK for not giving him his proper share. A SMASH hit and Lou got NOTHING FOR IT! With Mick in the band I would not work with Foreigner. Lou is a good guy Id work with him.
Jones forgot to tell about how he took 95% of the writing proceeds for that iconic ballad though, and suggested Gramm get 5% - because he KNEW it would be the gigantic hit it was and still is. When every other song was 50/50 or 60/40, or along those lines. THAT'S what caused the split. Now, admittedly, I'm getting that from Lou's mouth here on YT, but I'll say this; Foreigner is NOTHING and would have been NOTHING without Lou Gramm. I was twenty years old when Foreigner came out, and being from Buffalo I was intrigued that a local rock guy from sixty miles down interstate 90 in Rochester was the lead singer, and he was INCREDIBLE. EVERYONE loved that band and mostly because the lead singer was simply amazing. I'm glad Jones at least gave him credit on that song though, since they both worked for MONTHS on it. Gramm told him to keep it all, and Jones did. I will say it's nice to say that he has some realizations about the past,, and I do wish him the best.
Lou Gramm….! What a voice! Mick the dck should give props to the VOICE that made him famous and his contribution to Wanna Know What Love Is!!! And 2million in CASH…..MICK!! I have tickets to ur show next year but I may sell them for a profit! And send it to LG!
Mick was only 50% of foreigner. Lou was the other half . Mick got greedy Lou walked away . Great band destroyed by greed. I refuse to listen to that faux band he put together. Sorry Mick but you were NOTHING without Lou. and i agree with Lou your early music was more fun and enjoyable than the Ballads , However " I want to know what love is " is a masterpiece . To bad you stole Lou's contribution to the song . and ended Foreigner over it .
Lou Gramm was offered 5% writing credit for ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’… Lou contributed equally to that song, the arrangement, the lyrics and development. He deserved equal recognition and payment. Mick is a predator and exploited and bullied Lou.
It’s pretty obvious, Mick Jones is a sleeze bag , who knew the ways and means of the dark side of the music bizz- Lou was the one with the class and obviously the “face” of Foreigner all those years. The problem was , it was Mick who had the recording contract before the band was ever formed
It’s sad how he backstabbed his lead singer. His guitar playing is pretty much average by any professional standards. Not his singer, he made the band. It’s sad how strong greed actually is.
Lou made the band, just like Steve Perry and David Lee Roth did theirs. The guitarists who don't sing always have a jealousy especially if they were the ones who formed the band in the first place.
It's true great song writing team Mick and Lou...However, IMO, Lou Gramm has been and always will be Thee Voice of Foreigner, And the Only True "Juke Box Hero" a title well deserved and earned. Besides being Lou's own life experience behind the lyrics. Lou is a true Gentleman through and through. Yes...I know personally. The best to you both.
I was so mad at Mick for a long time but he turned it around and become a stand-up guy and included Lou gramm anyways. Lou gramm if people don't realize he was one of the greatest singers in the world until he had a brain tumor. And after that he struggled a determined Rock successful singer on stage never giving up. He fought and fought and fought to try to get that voice back. He never did get his voice back completely but at least Nick gave him a chance to be with the band until he retired. And I am very happy about that
See you tonight at the #WesternIdahoFair Mick & Company...... my sister & I will be there and we have loved you all since the 80's when we listened to you in the United States Air Force............... WE LOVE YOU !!!!!
