This is another example on how to use an advanced digital multimeter, like the Hioki DT4261 to capture voltage dip (sag, or some would say, voltage drop) during startup of a load. By engaging the Min-Max Function and reading the result on the Min display, one can determine how much voltage has dropped. In addition, the Hioki DT4261 can also connect wirelessly to a mobile device, so you can automatically transfer the results direct to Excel, which lessens chances of error. Please support my channel by giving me a thumbs up, subscribing, and sharing. Thanks and stay safe, everyone!

Very informative tutorial Sir. Thank you so much.

Thank you for this video. I recently ask you about how to measure voltage dips. It helps me to make a decision to keep this DMM or not.

Thanks also Oliver. I got this idea from your inquiries as well. I thought there's a bit of stuff that the DT4261 can do which other DMMs cannot. This is one of them. I'm sure other users know more functions for it, too. Good luck, sir!

i had a static phase converter that i would use to run my metal lathe it has a reeves drive speed control so i was happy getting simple power unfortunately my lathe has a magnetic switch that was not so happy i am hoping that a dps would work if properly sized thought the voltage imbalance has me worried would that fact that the motor always runs with at least some load on it as it is spinning the reeves dive and lathe spindle be enough to keep this as a simple way to power the lathe

Thanks for watching. I can't say for certain if the DPS would work in your case since my own motor is unloaded. My advice is, should you use the DPS anyway, just follow the manufacturer's recommendations on proper sizing and make sure that your motor has over current protection set on the motor's full load current. There's not much you can do on the no-load voltage unbalance.

@@ramschannelreviews thank you for the advice i realized i had watched the tested video originally and then came over to this one after so thanks for still connecting the dots for me
