The most interesting thing about this film was that the lead is from my home country, Finland. Her real name was Sirpa Salo. She died in Spain in 1999 of Aids. I have an article in a magazine about her somewhere.
Appreciate your review. I've not seen the film, and now I doubt I will. I am no prude, however I believe I'd be far too out of my comfort zone. Which is usually fine with film. However, this seems it would be waaaayyyy to far.
It's not for everyone. Though the uncomfortable stuff is very much allegorical it goes places that are at best weird, at worst perverse if you take it at face value. I don't think the film is quite good enough to ask people to 'get over it' but if you're up for a movie that challenges your sensibilities then there are worse films to sit through. It does get funny on a few occasions, so there's that lol.
@@lampyman101 I greatly appreciate the review. I'd heard of this in several circles. Whilst it's not the same vile insanity of A Serbian Film, I do think it may not be for me. Still... I DO like to push my limits. Where would one find this film? Cheers from Melbourne Australia
@@dropbearkellyevehammond4446 adding to lampymans review ,I found the film quite disturbing & i felt rather queasy after watching it - films like 'Evil Dead' or 'Texas Chain Saw masacre' i can watch & appreciate them as well made horror films ..La Bete feels very much closer to an unusual porn sub genre...
@@dropbearkellyevehammond4446 the Director Walerian Borosky did a few films ,nearly all 'dealing with sex - but Not pornograhy' . His film ' Dr Jeckyl & miss Osbourne ' ( it has many other titles as well) may be worth viewing..
@@lampyman101 thank you I was surprised the version I have run straight into the Forest shenanigans no horses no families I guess I'm going to have to search for this on DVD from another outlet thank you for your response have a great evening
@@bernardroth7200 I'm not sure which version you got but I believe 'the beast dream sequences' were initially meant to be part of the director Walerian Borowczyk 'Immoral Tales' film from 1973 .but were not used until later when they expanded the story that became La Bete.
@@andchat6241 you are correct I recently as in just now finished watching it for the first time in this complete version I'm thinking it was cut because this would have took in a big chunk of time for The immortal tail movie I sure would like this channel to tackle that movie
