@@DanielleSchwerin how was the test ? My verification visit is tomorrow and my test is on the 18th of April what are some things to be on the look out for
@@lovelivelaugh I am getting ready for my verification. Presently my preschool is having summer camp and not regular classes. Can I still schedule a verification even though I am working at the preschool summer camp. I am not doing circle time or teaching. Just working with the children, overseeing, etc
@@4you2deb1 yes you surely can!! My observations I am doing around this time is during summer camp. Just make sure you read a book and have some type of hands on activity that coincides with the theme of the lesson. Then continue on as normal summer ⛺️! You will do great!!
i hold the position of assistant director at my daycare . meaning i really don't have my own childrens room. My position is mostly running the daycare its well being ,paper work . Of course I've been in charge of my own room at some point in my years of daycare . Would you still be able to come in to do the visit ?
Thank you so much for this video. I’m in the process of getting my cda, but in my situation I’m not sure which book to get. I worked with toddlers ages 2 1/2-3 1/2. I did work in different rooms for the 5 years I worked in this daycare. Infants, toddlers, preschool and school age. But I was the lead toddler teacher. This was less than the 3 years required to apply for my cda and Im still close with my employers and coworkers there.Currently I have been a registered behavior technician for the last 2 years. But I have been preparing my home to start my own home daycare. I should be licensed by the time I finish my cda portfolio. My question is what book should I get since I’m starting a home daycare, should I get the home daycare edition or should I get the toddler? I just want to make sure my cda covers the daycare since that’s what I will be doing. But not sure if I have to get the toddler edition because that’s what I was doing. The ages of daycare I’m getting licensed for is 2-5. I know it’s a lot I just want to make sure I get the right book. I appreciate what your doing so much. Thank you 😊
No all we take with us are the papers in the back of your book that we tear out to grade you with. You keep your book and philosophy. Thanks for watching.
I did use my candidates transcripts when they didn’t have a copy of their high school diploma or GED. When your PD Specialist do her precheck list verification with you, make sure you mention exactly what you asked me here.
@Love Live Laugh hi sis, I’m half way there w my portfolio. Since I have decades of experience in childcare I have the knowledge in terms of what’s required in the book, where I’m stuck is on the formatting of the reflective statements of competency? As long as I got the most important thing which is the statements does this formatting have to be perfect?
No ma'am! As long as you have them in your portfolio in sections, you should be fine! We are not looking at the format. I have seen many, many different formats.
@@lovelivelaugh thank you so much! I finally finished my portfolio and it came out beautiful but i won’t lie it was a lot of work! 🙌🏾 my biggest obstacle now, I’ve sent out like 6 request on the CDA council for a PD specialist here in Rochester NY and haven’t gotten not one response back. I am ready for the observation but cannot locate not one person to do it. And trying to get through to the Council over the phone is impossible, yesterday I was holding over a hour and still no customer service
@@honesty2476 I’m so happy for you to get one obstacle out the way. The best I could tell you to do is call them first thing in the morning and leave your number for them to call you back, because the hold is ridiculous! I tried before to see if I can complete zoom session, then I would have been able to conduct your observation, but they told me they don’t do that anymore. Keep trying, I have heard how hard it is to get one. I have started traveling to other cities to help different ones. Let me know how it turns out.
@23:06 when you talk about the lesson plan in the booklet it says we are allowed to make one for children we may serve in the future, question is how will do guys use that example lesson plan to grade the class in person
Love Live Laugh how do you guys grade on lesson plan? Lesson plan is a little struggle for me and I’m not the main teacher of the class. So I’m a bit stressed out. So many things can go wrong
I am currently working at an in-home daycare but am looking to relocate so am having to leave my job but am looking to work in a center, which program should I do? I wish there was a broader program as far as CDA goes.. I am going to go for my family provider CDA but would that affect the center i go to if I don't even know which class I would catering for
HI my name is Amy and \i am watching your video now. I just have a question. Currently I work with infants and toddlers. In the past I have worked with 2s, 3s, and 4s. If I am working toward my CDA and will use the infant/toddler portfolio. Will that limit me in the future, if- I choose to change age groups? thank you for all the information
Hello TFW, If you get your CDA in infants/toddler, your CDA is only for that. Say that later you want to teach VPK, then you will need to get your CDA for preschool which covers ages 3 to 5 in a daycare setting. I hope that answer your question. You can still teach the 3, 4, ad 5 year old but not under the infant /toddler CDA.
so basically one needs a CDA for each group? doesn't honestly make a whole lot of sense to me since all the items necessary are judged under same standards** just the age group changes. I know you are not the one controlling this... but I dont plan to stay with one age group throughout my teaching career. Super Sad right now! amy
I just became a pd specialist. I received an email requesting my availability for a candidate. How do I respond to let them know I’m available? Do I email the candidate directly?
How do you handle the visit with a classroom aide. I understand I have to act as a lead teacher on the day of the visit, but I am not in charge of the classroom. We are not a daycare, but a public preschool within a high school.
Yes, we understand that you may not be the lead teacher of the classroom, However, while doing the observation you will have to take lead for two hours. Before your observation, practice taking the lead, and let the main teacher know that you need to be able to take charge and manage the classroom for your observation. You will need to come up with a lesson and activities for your observation. The main teacher will not be able to teach the children during the two hours.
Hello, I am a pd specialist and I am conducting my first verification visit on Wednesday. I am really nervous because it is my first time. Is there any way I can speak to you personally (by email maybe) so I can ask you a few questions so that everything will run smoothly?
Yes the verification can be done if they are separated, or put together (3-5). There should not be any twos in the classroom on a preschool verification visit.
