Please ad a video of installing the jib halyard. The instructions are not very clear. It would be great to show a complete installation on an actual boat!

I agree that not showing the halyard installation is a real shortcoming of the video.

I'm glad you posted this video. I Have FF2 and am about to install it, but I find the directions rather hard to follow. The video makes it really easy...

How do you make sure that your forestay is tensioned properly if it is inside of the CDI furler and you don't have access to the stay for something like a loos gauge?

Is it "Yours" because you bought it with the furler or "Yours" because you owned it before purchasing the furler. Seems you mix the two definitions. I just bought a used boat package and I'm having trouble with the details even though I have the poor furler owner's manual.

I bought the boat with this furling system already installed. The plastic drum keeps popping out of the metal casing and the furling line wraps around the forestry. Is there a way to keep it down?

_ What do you mean by FLEXIBLE _ is the extrusion plastic-nylon (flexible) or aluminum (non-flexible) as did not bend it in the video._ is it sold by Sailrite or CDI ?

The plastic extrusion is flexible but will warp if bent but can be straightened again if placed on a flat surface for a period of time. The extrusion be break if bent enough. So that is one way the extrusion is flexible. A second way the extrusion is flexible is that it can be cut to length for a best fit for each forestay. I am an amateur not affiliated with the yacht industry, so could be wrong. Just today, I was advised that the furling line length formula is boat length times 2.

what do you do with the 30 ft of halyard at the bottom of a swiveling sail? I like the no halyard wrap but I am unclear as you you manage all that line.

The CDI furler uses its own halyard that is just enough rope to tie off once the sail is hoisted. The customer provides a messenger line that they use so that the sail can be hoisted once in position the messenger line is removed which is the 30’ of ‘extra line’ and your left with enough to tie the sail off in the hoisted position. The messenger line is attached and used only when lowering or hoisting the sail other than that it is stowed away.

Unfortunately a lot more to it than that. Extremely misleading that these are “easy” to install. Directions that come with the furler are not at all easy to understand or follow.

Ready to go? No explanation how to attach messenger line, no explanation how to attach halyard, no explanation about prewinding the drum, no explanation about the tack, no explanation about limitations of the sail and existing forstay/turnbuckle being compatible with the drum/extrusion system, no explanation of hoisting sail.
