@@rockafeller3734 Donald was never really a major character in the invincible series, unlike Cecil where he is. Pretty sure they'll keep his death in the series
Wiz:Sometimes Heroes can't be trusted and if they ever turn against us we need people who willing to do WHATEVER it takes to keep this Planet Safe. Boomstick: Amanda Waller:Agent of A.R.G.U.S Wiz: And Cecil Stedman:Leader of the Global Defense Agency. Wiz: And it Our job to Analyze the Weapons , Armores And Skills to find out who would Win. Boomstick: A DEATHBATTLE!!!
I love that initially he killed bad guys who did heinous things, but later adopts the mentality even bad guys can be useful if controlled. That's true character growth.
@@eddyboiiiy6109 if you insist personally I think that i was a little too blunt with that original comment, I understand what they were trying to do with his character but personally I think it probably could have been done a little better, to put it brief I feel like they kind of forced the story a little too much especially when it comes to his relationship with mark, I don't know it's just what I personally think
stedman's design is genius. we assume that his scar is where he got damaged from his incident, when in reality, his scar **is** the last remnant of his original skin to survive his incident.
The only guy who Mark was so nonchalant with - even when he found out Cecil had created and repurposed his clones to kill him if he ever went rogue - I love this dude tragic end though
Is it me or Cecil is nicer in the show? Don't get me wrong, he's still extremely morally ambiguous as hell, but he shows that he doesn't like what he does, but it's fully aware that they have to be done
@@Bread. @J H I think "lawful neutral" applies. He's not "nice." He's just not malicious.I get the feeling from this version of the character he'll be just as brutal and murderous as omniman if it's "necessary."
I love how much more screen time and depth he's getting because of the show, I knew I would like him fairly early on but his face off against Omni man in episode 7 was hands down one of my favourite scenes in the entire show so far and cemented him as one of my top characters
Basically his whole "I do everything it takes to save earth" shtick was a succession of endangering earth voluntarily and then f*ck up the saving part, requiring someone else to do it for him.
It's more like Robot. Robot killed Cecil, and some superheroes, but basically turned earth into a utopia that was literally a threat to the viltrum empire.
I love seeing how the art improves as the series goes on. I think it adds to the development of the characters to see them in more detail as you understand their actions better.
The art in the comic goes back and forth, some issues have awesome art, some look goofy. They changed artists every now and then and some didn't turn out so good. In respect to the show, either season 2 and 3 get a bigger budget and blow season 1 out of the water or they bank on the popularity, do a One Punch Man Season 2 and get lazy.
@@Zezinizzle I honestly like both. Cecil seems a bit goofier badass in the fucking comics, like the time when Nolan returned home (post the guradians of the globe death) and Cecil shot him on fucking sight and said “whoops, a reaction” 😂. I really like him in the animated show in his portrayal, but the comics show a man who is truly willing to do anything to protect the planet.
I just love the implications of Nolan having a “secret identity“ like the man doesn’t even bother to wear a mask, he’s not even some random nobody, he’s a semi successful author, that would be like JK Rowling being the secret identity of Superman
I think it’s worth bringing up that Mark eventually acknowledges that Robot’s rule brings about an era of peace and progress. In fact, even despite Robot killing Cecil and Mark and Robot having some serious issues with each other, Mark acknowledges that Cecil probably would have been happy with the state of the world. Cecil cared about securing the planet for future generations at any and all costs, and he did whatever he thought he could to prevent mass death events. He didn’t always succeed, and he wound up with a LOT of blood on his hands-even by Invincible standards.
Its ironically hypocritical that Cecil killed the first team after they did some horrendous shit but saved him. Then fastforward some years he does the same shit he hated.
Yup. He realized that to save the many lives of the planet, you can't live a black and white life. Ideals are great in theory, but real life doesn't care about ideals, and will throw as many wrenches as it takes for you to realize that, and/or kill you.
It's the whole theme of the comic. People thinking they are the ones to know best or that they are the moral guide, only to find out they are wrong and needed a larger perspective.
Like its a good ideal to not want to kill, but hesitation can cause things to escalate more. And death can be unavoidable if the obstacle is another superpowered villain. @@LeafMaltieze
Same he just happens to be a victim of circumstances. The best quote he had was “I hate myself too” when he said that you know he’s been through the shit.
@@observeandreport2011 Deadass, I felt so bad when he said that. Like he may have been doing some morally grey shit but still like noooo don't hate yourself dude you're my favourite aha.
I really feel sad for Cecil, after sacrificing and suffering so much for the world, the way he died and was buried was really disgraceful for entire human race.
Was Debbie an mark came i mean this dude gave them so much . I'm sorry but the comics are way too expensive can't do it with 13$h jobs or is their a website thats free
@@lilbean5955 honestly, normally I wouldn't go out of my way to say this, but that's a super reductionist take that doesn't help make anything better. If you've got beef with what the government does, it is on you to get your message out there, be activist, and make some change happen, whether as part of a larger organization or on your own somehow.
I'm legitimately surprised that Cecil didn't appear again later after his death. Specifically thinking that he had the mauler twins clone him and he tucked his clone away until his death. I figured he'd be the guy who had a back up plan for his back up plan
@@Werewolf.with.Internet.Access the ability to destroy planets (nolan only destroyed a city and a space station, the planet is still there), FTL speed, some badass power like wielding lightning. They aren't even close to god tier. I mean, Superman is god tier, and he'd hand their asses to them. Just because they're hard to kill, doesn't mean they're god tier. They're strong AF, but not gods. That's why i said "technical god"
@@Werewolf.with.Internet.Access depends on your definition. After all, the word has a very WIDE semantic range, from influential people to the uncreated creator of the omniverse. Omni-Man is around post crisis superman level, though he seems to actually have less durability, as getting punched for a couple seconds by very strong beings gave him internal bleeding and made him unconscious for a prolonged period. If you want to compare him to Greek or Norse pantheons, he's actually far above their durability, although power output is hard to compare. I remember Thor destroying entire mountains in a single hammer hit in one story. Omni-Man destroyed flaxan largely due to relativistic speeds and it doesn't seem he can actually punch that hard. Compare him to darkseid or Jesus (1st advent) (there's a reason I group these two together) and he could technically destroy their bodies if he was permitted to, but would be unable to destroy their true forms. In Jesus' case it depends if he utilities his divine nature to access omniscience and thereby anticipate Omni-Man's attack in which case he can simply speak a word to make him powerless.
Cecil is the guy you might hate but you'd love to have running things for you. He's efficient, he covers all the angles that he can, and he's planning. Even when he takes in new blood, he leaves a grim reminder on the wall that they aren't unkillable. And he plays for the long game. When Darkblood figured things out, he couldn't have him expose Omni just yet. Cecil needed to figure out the reason for it. If he worked for a criminal organization he'd be a great Lex Luthor-esque character. But he's working for the Flag. The guy making the moves in the shadows so the heroes in the light can continue.
I've always had a very strong love/hate relationship with Robot.... I would just downright love him except for him killing Cecil. If he hadn't done that, he'd probably be my favorite character in the series.
still one of my favorite characters in invincible love that he’s not just a generic evil government agent or purely a road block to mark. he’s a realist who’s cold and calculating and willing to use lesser evils to stop greater evils. But unlike a generic government villain his actual goal is ultimately the protection of earth firmly planting him in that morally grey area. he may do some fucked up shit but everything he does has sound reason to it if you can look past the moral hangups.
So in a way he is like Jonah Hex, a cold hearted man who has a scar is a reminder to show that the world is messed up with a little bit of Amanda Waller due to his affiliation with the government.
Unlike waller his more nicer and compared to her who hires villains that are very dangerous and backstab them in the. He only uses villains who have beneficial and chance to change themselves
@@theblade1251 More like those who are too valuable to waste. It is a bad idea to just waste talent. Plus unlike Waller he is not just loking for dispoasble pawns.
Invincible: Broke a super intelligent but psychopathic dinosaur man to protect the world from global warming. Cecil Stedman who hired DA Sinclair who created Robot Zombies out of alternate universe Invincibles: You weren't supposed to do that. Invincible: I'm gonna do what's called a pro gamer move.
Cecil has more tools and is more adept at working and controlling shady business. He's been doing it for a long time, with technology and alot of talented people behind him. . Mark was.. "You gonna do good, psychopathic dinosaur?", "Yes", "Then we're good, i trust you fella 100%, lets give you access!"
@@KillerBee300 I mean it is kind of true. Every person has energy demands. I'm not hopeful of getting neutral emissions let alone being able to reverse them. So even if we are near neutral but above it, emissions will still continue to go up as you add more people. The only incentive of trying to attain a technology to reverse emissions, is if we want to colonize Mars and one of the goals to do that is to terraform the planet so it becomes habitable. Too many conflicts of interest on trying to do that on Earth. Since this is unlikely in the near future, you will probably want to eradicate a large and catastrophic amount of people, if you want to drop energy demands a significant amount.
Cecil is one of my favorite characters he can make the hard and the cruel decisions without let his emotions take control of him unlike most of the other good characters, smart character and do anything to keep earth safe no matter the cost:)
I gotta say Cecil was probably the best character in Season 1. At first there was a worry he'd be ur stereotypical 'controlling government bad guy' especially with his morally grey line but he was perfectly consistent in his character proving to be sympathetically morally good (not ethical) and yet brilliant and calculating as a man of his position should be. He's like a mix of the Rick Dicker (Incredibles) and Amanda Waller (Justice League)
The Robot War Arc is considered by most the worst arc in the series. Robot becomes essentially a way worse, and less interesting version of Nolan, in literally like 3 or 4 pages, with almost no believable explanation for his very extreme change in behavior.
@@halfiem2510 Yeah I get that there's no way he wouldn't change by being on the Flaxan homeworld... But Monster Girl only slightly changed, and it was for the better, not the worse. Robot just became a douchebag.
@@Akiraspin fr i really hate tge robot arc and the arc where mark travelled to the past, the 5 years timeskip still ok to me, but eve find another man just seems so unnecessary
I will admit, I came to the series expecting it to be re-written just as an animated version of The Boys, at least in spirit. But... It won my heart. I actually like the superhero genre, I like Spiderman, I like Ghost Rider (grew up reading the Danny Ketch run), so... Yeah, seeing that Mark is actually trying to be the best hero he can be, and the rest of the Guardians as well, brings a good feeling.
Cecil was a great leader honestly, true grey morality, but he did what was best. He made use of even his enemies. His flaw was not being able to detect when someone is going undercover. Omni Man, and later Robot being the most major examples.
@@porkchop1659 The manga is excellent!! Show is fantastic IMO, plus bloody If you have not seen the boys, please give it a try....if you like Omni man, you'll love Homelander.
Plot twist: Cecil uses the Mauler twins create a younger clone. Creates an upgrade suite and becomes the Batman the invincible earth needs!!! He will be the kryptonite for all Viltrums Ohhh yeaahhh
Idk why Cecil never thought of getting samples from actually fully formed viltumites like omni man or conquest. Cecil has really good opportunities to do so, omni man would've been ideal when he was removing in the hospital after his fight with the guardians. And conquest would be good after invincible beat him. If Cecil did that then he'd have a lot more STRONGER viltrumites
The word I would use for Cecil is pragmatist he doesn't really like what he does but at the same time he knows that it is what's necessary to ensure earth's survival and while yes some of those decisions result in mistakes everyone has made mistakes. Cecil is a man willing to sacrifice anything for the greater good even if others label him as a monster.
Are we getting an Allen the alien vid soon? Not asking for it, was just wondering since you mentioned in omni man or invincible’ vid and was just curious. Don’t overwork yourself making these vids! Edit: he made the video
I find it really interesting how the show decided to wait until episode 8 for the fight and had all these missions before that versus the comic that had the fight then the missions
The only time I ever felt disappointed reading Invincible was Cecils death. How would Cecil die to robot like that it doesn't make sense. The guy knew robot turned yet didn't have a quick teleport ready? I kept thinking yeah right like Cecil would die that easily this must be some secret plan. Cecil got done so dirty.
