Yes she does shout, and I love it. It adds something tot he drama. This is opera afterall and I think it works well in this aria. This is one of the best examples of a Baroque 'anger' aria.

That's music livid with wrath! What I adore most of all in Cecilia is her uncanny ability to pour all her soul into what she's singing. She may get a lot of criticism for this but I believe this is precisely what makes singing an ART and not some mindless coloratura chirping.

This is one of the best arias of Vivaldi outside from the Vivaldi Album I've ever heard. Really dark and angry, which begs the question, Why did they not include this in the album?
why do people keep on comparing the two? Cecilia is "the new" in its best form. Teresa is "the tradition", that is it. I myself enjoy both although I prefer Cecilia big time. Whilst Cecila puts her soul in what she sings, Teresa puts technique and some elegance of the past, èrobably this is the way it has always been. But in terms of power, coloritura, joy of singing and passion, nothing can be compared with Cecilia.
