Cedar Hill State Park is nature oasis located just 30 minutes from the Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex. It makes an ideal destination for city dwellers who want to enjoy the great outdoors without spending a lot of time driving. The park sits along the Joe Pool reservoir, making it a great spot for fishing, swimming, picnicking and camping. There is also a marina for boating and supplies. The park's Penn Farm Agricultural Center features historic farm buildings and guided and self-guided tours. The Dallas Off Road Bicycle Association (DORBA) maintains 1200 acres of prime mountain bike trails. For more information, visit www.LifesBetterOutside.org.

The state park is not what it used to be back in the 90s and early 2000s. It is under a multi million dollar construction improvement as of 2022 but it doesn't include fish cleaning stations out of all things and they cant simply be added due to the Army Corp of Engineer requirements as to how to handle the waste. The aluminum boat ramps don't have proper boat protection along the sides as needed to keep from damaging your boat and what little protection that is there isn't installed properly. The fishing used to be good back when it had hydrilla in it and now there isn't any grass in the lake and the bass fishing has suffered because of it, I understand that this is managed by TPW and not the state park necessarily. There is more to the park than what I am pointing out and this is from a fisher mans point of view but it is shared by almost every person I talk to at the boat ramp. This is indicative of how the park is being handled and ran today unfortunately. I am hopeful that things start to turn around for this once highly visited and appreciated park because back in the day it was one of the most visited and used state parks in the entire state.
