Cedar Island Lighthouse | Cedar Point Park East Hampton, NY
When most people think of the Hamptons they picture mansion, parties, celebrities and insane wealth but there is a lot more to the Hamptons than that. One of my favorite places to run in East Hampton, home of Cedar Point Park and the Cedar Island Lighthouse.
From running trails, camping spots and deserted beaches to the old Cedar Island Lighthouse, it is an amazing place to check out. The lighthouse was actually on an island up until the hurricane of 1938 which created a permanent sand bar connecting the island to Cedar Point Park.

i enjoyed this video, its nice seeing Cedar Island from the air...my name is Bob Allen and my great grandfather was the lighthouse keeper there from Sept 1917 until the light was decommissioned in Sept 1934....my dad and my uncle were brought up on this lighthouse. I use to give walking tours for years out to the light then when out there i would share stories of when my great grandfather ran the light with his wife. It was nice seeing the light from the air. thanks....

I went there with my son probably 10 years ago. The lighthouse still had the light enclosure though it was severely rusted. I see that its not there now and the roof is capped, so I hope it is undergoing restoration (or replacement?). Like you said, it is beautiful out there and we had the place to ourselves. I hope it is restored to its former grandeur.

Hey Robert - the lighthouse is undergoing a restoration currently. The light was removed for restoration and the actual building just got a new temporary roof. You can see some of the progress here www.cedarislandlighthouse.org/restoration-progress/
