A P but the millennials don’t care anything about saving money, it takes too long and they want that instant gratification! We’ve got several nieces/nephews that fall into that category and it just blows my mind. They don’t think they need to save cause Obama trained them that if they run out then there will be someone there to give them a bail out

A floor fan is just as efficient, if not more. Most people leave the ceiling fan constantly running, this costs more. A floor fan is typically turned off when a renter leaves. Having 88 properties, I don't provide them.

@Just think to circulate the air. to get better even temps, no cold or warm air pockets.

Our ac just died and we were able to have a livable house because we have ceiling fans in every major room. The new ac is nice but without air movement it gets stuffy until the ac turns on again. Yes you can have the ac/furnace fan run when not heating/cooling but it is not really the same.

They also don't get in the way like stand or box fans.

I have four in my log home. They make heating and AC much more effecient by circulating the air, especially with cathedral ceilings. The old, cheap ones can be pretty ugly. As you said, you can get almost any style you want now a days.

My electric bill is like $160 a month 4 ceiling fans, 2 air conditioning window units and kids running tv's, not shutting off lights and pool filter 12 hrs a day, ect...

Same... I swapped old chandeliers for ceiling fans. After awhile I kind of liked the chandelier design, but they were faded, worn, questionable wiring. I considered flaming led bulbs that look like actual fire in them.

I agree, it's an ugly fixture. Plus you have to replace the whole thing if it fails. I love Edison style LED bulbs in regular fixtures. Some last less than a year, some last over 5, but to hell with replacing the whole fixture

Here in California pretty much only LED bulbs are available. But not all LED bulbs can be sold here. They must be title 20 bulbs. Obviously they're more expensive.

I hate how styles and trends are going simply, to please young people. I think that fan looked just fine. It had tones of character. And I wouldn't have used the word trashy, but that style of ceiling fan definitely wasn't pretty. A modern ceiling fan would look much nicer. And btw, you're obviously too angry to realize it (again, calm down) but styles change drastically every 10-20 years. So new styles coming around and people hating those new styles has been going on forever.

@@glasshalfempty1984 I like the old style. It is actually very pretty with the tulip glass, antique brass, and footprint vents but we are all allowed to have our opinions.

The reverse doesn't draw "outside air in" it just blows upward (instead of downward), which re-circulates the rising warm air without creating a noticeable breeze.

I however disagree i think vintage fans perform WAY better, and yeah most of them dont look the best but they atleast they do better with blowing air.

This is why ceiling fans come in different sizes. Traditionally, the 3 main standards are 52", 42" and 36", though 32" is not uncommon. These days, however, there are many new types of ceiling fans, some of which do not even look like ceiling fans, but serve the same purpose. I, personally LOVE ceiling fans...particularly the classics of the 80s, 70s and earlier, but everyone has different preferences.

I honestly think that comes from all these remodel and house flipping shows because all of the designers despise ceiling fans and say they must go at all costs and people are watching this on DIY channels and home channels and equivalents, so if these TV designers Hate and despise them then obviously everybody that's watching them must hate them and despise them so that they can be right up there with the TV interior designers.
