@@SailingSeabird baby steps first, now your walking soon you’ll be running. And cheers for the comedy ammo to. Had to laugh when you said Greg’s gunna love this 😂
Excitement is building with the arrival of the flooring stage. You both seem uplifted by it too. I find the noise of the wind very evocative but I guess it’s just for half an hour for me rather than for days on end with you guys. Go well. ❤
You two work so well together. This boat is being given a second life and when it is finished and on the water, you are going to be very proud owner. I have followed you from the beginning and look forward to each video
Great video again. Loved it. As for the floor. I agree with Stuart. Darker is better and don't varnish it. Keep the rest of the interior light and then you have a nice contrast.
It is great to see the mast is safe. I am sure that Stu has learnt of the pitfalls of putting his finger into sticky places by now, tempting though it is.
Massive change. I find myself wishing I could just walk over to your boat and help a little. haha. The boat is going to be beautiful. Personally, I like the dark floors against white on the walls. It will be beautiful. Brava, Bravo. xx from Italy.
Forgot yesterday was Friday, but with now! You brought a tear to my eye, with this vid. Great work, can almost see the end, in mind. Wishing you continued good luck!!! Loved the comment from one of your viewers..."when you start at rock bottom, the only way is up!"...says it all, soon finished!
I agree the foot looks very dark and it is a small space. Darker colours do tend to make things appear smaller. Sorry Stew you do great at most everything 😊
Since your going to paint the inside brighter colors I agree with Stews dark wood choice.. it will look great.. if you have light flooring and walls it doesn't look good.. you want dark floors and light walls or reviews..light floors with dark walls. The lighter the walls the larger it will seem..
When we put the floor in our boat, I left a message for the next guy in a part of the bilge that you wouldn't be able to see without pulling the floor up: "Abandon all hope ye who enter here."
We were talking about the wind ! Wow! Hard! I would go to those boats with the clanging rigging and tie them up so they don’t make noise!!! Cheers Warren
Personally, I like the darker color. To me it is a classy, traditional yacht color. I enjoy your videos and am excited for you at this time of your floor installation.
Having lived on a yacht for 20 years i can attest to the need for light down below. Dark timber looks amazing but it does tend to make the interior a little dim especially as there are only relatively small port holes to let in natural light.

I agree, I think if you are painting the walls white and all the interior is in then you won’t notice that the floor is dark, also it’s going to be pretty impossible to mask the flood stains in the wood with a light coloured varnish.
Hello. About your cost video, you're rebuilding at today's prices which are a LOT more than 50 years ago. So I think you're doing great! Keep up the good work and enjoy. Ciao. geo
Preparation for the floor is physiologically monumental, when it's down it will be a huge turning point in your restoration. As far as the solar is concerned, what's wrong with free electricity? Well done to both you made giant steps this week, I'm impressed. Thanks for sharing this video, see you both next week. xx
I'm really curious to see how the floor will turn out. one of the things I like most is your ability to do a lot with little, I'm trying it too with my boat! you were my inspiration to try my hand at restoring a boat and making videos on RU-vid 😍
This was always going to be the biggest renovation drag... must have been soaking away in that 'ingress' water for a long period! She really wasn't worth even a Euro when you bought her of course! Lovely watching you two working patiently/doggedly away at your ocean going dreams... inspirational team work is a beautiful thing! Crack on SeaBirds... 50k is deffo coming soon!🏖
Hi Stu. Wow, at last, the floor being put down is a major step forward 👏 👌. Lovely job on those plates, Stu. God, she looks so clean and dry inside now. And yes, those floor boards look away better if they are light instead of too dark. You don't want it to dark in the cabin. You have a nice bit of height down in there, very important. Anyway, great work and video again, Stu. Fair play to you both, it's hard going, but you're getting there. Anyway, chat later.. stay safe and keep smiling 😃 👌🇮🇪
I had started watching another boat rebuild before I found you channel. They have completed their project and are enjoying the fruits of their labor. They have had several issues on their many journeys and believe the time they spent "getting to know" the boat in drydock has helped tremendously in their travels....What you guys are experiencing are going to be very beneficial when you set sail in the not too distant future. It's like owning a motorcycle and taking a trip cross country, if you break down, you better have either a lot of cash or tools and knowledge. On the ocean there are not that many options to pull over at the next gas station.....how does the saying go.... you need to learn to improvise, overcome and adapt...
Marina I think you are right to want a light-coloured floor. If you are going to sand back the teak and holly you could even blond it. There are some nice polyurethane blonding agents available.
@@SailingSeabird we removed our wart of a depth sounder from the leading edge of our keel. Previous owner just epoxied it on top of the gel coat. We’ll plug that hole next weekend. Making progress. 😎 You guys are too! Looking good! ❤️😎🥰❤️😎🥰
Good job guys🎉❤ At 14:05 don't ask for public opinion, but instead a good advice would be to copy your favorite interior design! I would go for k&m's modern architecture which is darkish floor and white cabinetry. (Without brown trims that's so 70's fesifn)
It's always good to see what you're doing, nothing boring, Stu! Looking forward to seeing the floor done. I, too, like the darker colour; it's more traditional and will not show up spills and stains as easily, especially with it being waxed.
The light floor looks much better. Owatrol stripper would probably get rid of the wax and stains on the teak, is brilliant stuff. Alternatively use new ply sheets and fake the holly stripes by paint thin cream lines (using masking tape) and then satin varnish/lacquer the top.
Absolutely flying along, having a floor will make it so much easier doing the the repairs. Just make sure everything is sealed 100%, and Stewie don’t skip on the inspection hatches, they were there for reason.🍻😎⛵️
Nice one as always. Stepping stone would fit a bit better tbh😂 Like the lighter floorboards better and I in my personal opinion the will work nice wlth the white walls in the cabins to provide some „light“ in like autumn and winter
You people are crazy! Of course organizing the floor is super exciting to us!!! You are building back the boat! What could be more exciting?? Great job and have a great week!
Hello again. Ok another great video about a really important project. There is lots of work going into getting that floor completely installed and I'm sure you will be so happy to finish it. Just take your time and keep at it. Until next Friday, enjoy your weekend. Ciao. geo
I think that just may be your happiest video since you started this project. Congratulations on making a start on that floor and all your gardening work!
Hi , I was wondering how/why you decided to notch out the floors for the stringers instead of attaching a support on the floor so you don’t weaken the floors? I think it will be ok ….but you could also have notched the stringers and had a smaller notch in the floor? Cheers Warren
