Me: so scrap mechanic, what would hurt more, being hit by a roll of tape, or being literally cut in half by a giant scythe? Scrap Mechanic: … the tape?

Actually in Y2K, some stuff did happen! But the major effects of it were mitigated by measures taken before the date of the digit overflow. In fact, there were some people who noticed the issue as early as 1958, but nobody listened, so lots of money (many millions of dollars) was spent fixing the issue as it approached rather than making sure it never was an issue. There are also some other similar problems, the closest one being the Y2K38 problem, which has to do with the UNIX timestamp overflowing the 32 bits it is stored as. Very interesting stuff!

This is definitely my favorite scrap mechanic lets play series, keep up the good content :D

Little-known fact: Y2K would have actually happened, and destroyed a whole bunch of infrastructure, but for all the work put in to prevent it from happening. Those developers were braver than any US Marine imo

You guys should make paddles to knock/spank the farmbots into the oil pond. Just a simple paddle that goes up and around on a hinge and knocks them into the oil. You can even make it gas powered since it's literally on an oil pond.

That silence from Kan after the second test firework is so funny to me.

I just had a cool idea, you should make an explosive launcher that doesn't detonate them so that you can shoot them out of the air with spudguns! Skeet Shooting in Scrap Mechanic, I bet that would be fun!

Where can we apply to replace the "forward-slash-chevron-guy", I mean "Assist you" in your gameplay gameplay :D

Me and my mates celebrated our 500th day by creating a museum at the mechanics workshop, re-creating memorable events and having a picnic. We also played some games like hitting a piñata with dress kits/component kits. We finished off the day by harvesting a piece of broccoli each that we planted at the start of the ceremony (broccoli holds great significance in our world). Awesome to see this as it brings back the memories :)

5:16 Well, the reason nothing happened was because people who knew what they were doing took action. Without the major panic and the government investing large sums of money into finding solutions, there *would* have been pretty serious consequences. Unfortunately, since nothing happened, it makes it seem like everybody was crazy, and many unsung heroes go without recognition due to this.

Pretty sure Y2K was an actual issue that would have caused the predicted issues, but a bunch of programmers worked round the clock to fix the bugs. Unseen heroes.

So next year: 200 fireworks made of lv5 thruster + large explosive + spudgun to activate + ammo container for spudgun + logic to make it work :) I know it's not gonna happen

btw if you have multiple glowbugs... if you feed them with the same automated system... you mightaswell have have only one glowbug

You could use that catapult for target practice like use it as a clay pigeon thrower for your Spud guns

On Y2k: they didn't _think_ that the date rolling over from 99 to 00 would cause problems, they _knew_ that it would, so they fixed the computers so it wouldn't cause problems, which is why nothing happened.

To be honest, he made some jokes about having a parody band called Scrap Metal, I bet you could talk him into changing it to SKrap Metal because *it's not the first time you've thrown goofy and passable lyrics at him.* Shortened, it would be SKM so y'all get your initials in there + Metal. Gears for the S and a profile of a helmet for the K *holy crap, there's a helmet design that has a K profile, which would be well suited for modification to carry your eyes* just a thought I had while typing a thought I had while typing and no I'm not having a stroke. It rolls over at 4:00 (when the unauthorized farming get´s detected, if I remember right. I´m somewhat at Day +900 and never thought about having fireworks XD

I believe recently there was y2k related issue in a European country where they couldn't register new cars because the year was stored as two digits and their y2k fix was to make the years 0-20 be this century

Yeah they made a big mistake there's 365 days in a year so they are off by 9 days. That's why Kan thought it was 355 because it's supposed to be 365.

It sounds bad but I wonder what would happen if you explode a Caged-Farmer like are they indestructible or high damage. And multiplayer Monday bowling would be cool either with a Caged-Farmer or just a normal ball but I think the farmer would be funnier/cooler
