As a teenager who had just moved from Nigeria to the U.S. in the 90s, I used to look at this with eagerness and never saw Africa - an entire continent - represented. Like, non existent. And I recall thinking, hmm CNN would have people believe there were NO fireworks in the "wasteland" of Africa. Progressive media, welp. Of course, the reality is there are impressive fireworks every year in cities the likes of JoBurg (South Africa), Nairobi (Kenya), Accra (Ghana{) and Lagos (Nigeria). And if any is too modest... well, then appreciate our sustainability score and highlight our fireworks. 30 years later and CNN could not be bothered to have a single African country (North, East, West, South) represented in so-called celebrations around the world.
