Most board games are at some point compelling... Make it more intricate and only unsubtle people can't find fun in it! D&D, however some sick mind had it get on news on a bad pace it it's early days, is a base for games which will stay for long as it give's players and DMs the little or huge touchy scenery in which creativity can blossom out of anything! Crazier than most people think about it while not knowing it more than by game's name, it allows people to put in many perspectives event similar to real life and have everyone mind about it. Not being indifferent and being given occasion to think creates a connection however faint which leads people to be more reactive when real life events occur! ... and meanwhile keeps laughers and many other emotions present all along the chosen paths, teach people to exert global view of situations, teach people to find a balance in attachment and detachment to situations, teach patience and reasoning before acting, teach companionship and competition, keeps a sense of being part of something bigger than oneself, ... and yes, some parts can directly be related to life (discussed knowledges basics and their applications... can help in skills, geographic reading aptitudes can relate faster when traveling with maps, time sense and interaction sequences can help plan daily activities,... MEMORY! We never speak enough of it!!!!! Not thinking often neither memorizing information for short and long term use easily leads to mental laziness! Keep always brain working on!
