Hey, I'm 41 and have struggled with alcohol my whole adult life and even some of my teenage years. I'm sober now a week and want to stay that way. What you're doing is a good thing. Keep doing it.
After 4 months of complete & total sobriety---what I've come to realize is the 5 hours partying at night---isn't worth feeling like crap for the next 2 days. I'm totally productive with all my time & enjoy feeling good every morning.
thanks, I think there needs to be more conversation around this. It's truly a life hack but gets a bad rep because of cultural / social norms. but everyone i know who decided to stop drinking is just all around happier and more "accomplished" in whatever metric they measure "success" by. I think if there is more conversation about this then maybe fewer ppl will get stuck into the addictive side of drinking.
I just gave up drinking alcohol the first day of this month this year, and I feel better without it... And seeing these famous people and icons that don't drink made me feel even better
This video was everythingggggg. Thank you for putting this together. The 50 cent facts had me stuck. It’s crazy celebrities advertise what they don’t consume. New subscriber here! 👋
Hey Megahn, thanks for watching and being super cool in the comments. The 50cent one had me too lol i think it's low key kind of boss. so stoked you're part of the gang here 🙌
Thank you again for this ! its really awesome to see all those faces that have such a impact in people's lives and that are successful turn to not drinking. I hope one day this becomes society's Normal not to drink and we can all break past this thing we were all taught was normal. I think this is one thing we can work past to a next step in our evaluation and our awareness as a country. It doesn't have to be apart of our future anymore and learn from our past. We will all live longer, happier and be better selves without it.
Thanks for watching, Nomonick. You're awesome, and I'm on the same page as you. It's not that it needs to be "banned" but like you said, the normalcy behind it is the problem. Let me know if you think of other good video topics or ideas that come to mind for you when you watch 👏
Loved the video, I think you chose some great clips. Beginning this journey at the age of 27…it went from 90% of the time, drinking was fun and worth the 10% of the screwups but now it feels like 95% of the time, drinking involves me screwing up or messing with my mental/physical health for multiple days. Clearly abstaining entirely is the right choice for me. By the way, love your style.
Hey Angie -- Thank you for your sweet comment! You're awesome :) You are totally killing it, just start looking for stuff to "de-brainwash" you toward alcohol. I PROMISE nothing but good is ahead of you if you did decide to stop drinking.
Me too Im a little behind you at 3 weeks in. Yay us. I find these vids so inspiring bc she is young and smart and breaking away fr usual or expected behavior
Ah, that's so great to hear, Laura. Thank you for commenting and your super kind words. also, you've totally got this. for me, I started recognizing all of the negatives that came from drinking, how shitty hangovers were and seeked out info that started to help me see how alcohol is just something we're taught to think is normal. but it's really just not. at least in the ways our society consumes it. For me, once I realized how I was just stuck in a cycle of drinking, being hungover again, then drinking again -- I realized that maybe there was another way to live. I'd say for me, starting to see and break free of the "program" was the part that took the most effort. but once I got out and had some space from drinking I saw what I'm attempting to explain. If you ever have questions or whatever please don't hesitate to ask, I know I had a lot in my head before I stopped drinking. Thank you for watching girl 💫
Thanks - I got sober the first time when I got pregnant at 21. I never knew what I was capable of until then. Didn’t stay sober, but never became full-blown, but alcohol was always there, and I’m sure it added a lot of misery to my life.
I cherish my life, other lives, and my driver’s license to drink alcohol. I’m also age 41. I’ve been there and done that. I choose Water or coffee instead.
Hey Tony, oh man that makes me feel so good to see your comment. Thank you, I hope I am little bit at least. Not drinking changed my life and I think it could help so many others too. Thanks again my friend, appreciate you watching 💫
Hey Ian, thanks for watching and commenting / being so kind. Love having you here with all of us chatting about this somewhat taboo convo lol hope you're having a great day :)
I recently decided to stop the drink after realizing I really dont enjoy being drunk and its just not good for me. Im currently 30 and I work in the music industry. Its too easy to be a drunk in that line of work and most wont even care if you are. I just dont like the way I feel during or after drinking. I also have (or have had) many relatives that are (or were) heavy drinkers and its not a good look when you're at an older age with serious medical problems merely bc of alcohol. Such a life wasted. Huh...maybe thats why its called "getting wasted". I love these lists because it shows even the celebs we thought were still partying hard are switching that lifestyle for a cleaner way of living.
Interesting video. In Ottawa the legal drinking age is 19. I tried many drinks out of curiosity and my favorites were sipping spiced rums or whiskey with ice. Never been drunk though. I just felt that it was a waste of money and unnecessary negative impact to overall health so I don't drink anymore. It's been about 2 years now.
Hey there! You've got it, just gotta focus on the good stuff that comes from not drinking and replace your habits with new ones. have you read "Alan Carr's Quit Drinking" book ?
Ah, Madamrandom! So glad the channel found you! sorry this took me forever to respond, I was traveling abroad but so happy you're here. we've got a cool group of people collecting on this channel, so you've got a new crew that you're part of :) so happy to have you as a part of this community! 💫✨
Daniel Radcliffe actually did have a problem with alcohol in his teenage years which he has discussed , i think thats why he chose to give it up and not touch any again
Hey Steve, gosh thank you so much for your comment. So kind, and I’m glad to hear that you’re getting something from them. It’s great to hear from you, let me know if you have any topics that come to mind - you can TOTALLY do 90 days, just make the decision and know only good is on the other side 🙌🏼
@@laurenknighthughes TY Lauren. One poss future video along the lines of this one would be before and after pics of drinkers. who quit Zack Galafanakis comes to mind also John Goodman looks so much better than 20 years ago. Also non celebs, bored panda has something like that. Truth is we are all vain and want to look better even if that's not the most important result of ditching the booze. Good luck with your channel.
@@stevel.9476 I agree, makes a lot of sense. I have one on how much weight I lost, but unfortunately I didn’t have before and after pics at that time. I can def make it happen though in other ways, thanks I’ve got some ideas that probs would have been good for me to see before I stopped drinking too 👍🏼👍🏼
Hey friend, sorry for taking forever to get to this. Somehow I missed this comment, but can't tell you how much I appreciate you and your kind words. Super grateful the channel found you and that you're a part of this community with us! 💫✨
Thank you for this video. I am in recovery and it helps to see successful people who can contribute their success to sobriety. Alcohol is hands down the most destructive drug our society uses. Terrence McKenna had some pretty strong views on alcohol and I believe he is totally correct.
Very useful info. Same reasons I don’t drink alcohol. I felt like I was disrespecting my self. Feeling sick , loosing time feeling sick..what’s the point?
I grew up in the 80s, and a celebrity you didn't list is Adam Ant. He sang a song about it called Goody Two Shoes. Check it out:) i was little, maybe 11, when it came out, and i thought he was so cute!! Heterosexual, non-partying singer. Anyway, fun video:)
I don't drink either...maybe once a year I'll have a cocktail. And I'm thinking of cutting that out. It's about health for me. Now I drink water all day, and tea!
This needs more views. Dry January is great but here I am 5 days into lent. If I can make it for forty days why not keep that habit going. ❤ Wish me luck. I made my Mardi Gras like New Year’s, drank what I wanted then at midnight sealed with a kiss and haven’t drank yet. 🎉 I can’t believe the differences already.
I saw on instagram or somewhere today that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have a pact not to drink alcohol for 3 months- so clearly she drinks- not sure why she’s listed
👋Hello @jk66698, a year is incredible! Congrats. Relapses around then are common. Hope you know you can restart any time. Personally, it took a long long time for alcohol to drag me down…makes sense stumbles, many friggin stumbles, happened on the way out. Be gentle with your good self. All any of us has is Now. 🏄🏻♀️❤️✨🌎
This vid helps me show that i am not alone here with problems i guess the people who drinks a lot has inability to deal with life situations ( escape the reality) so we use alcohol as a escaping substance which makes drinker feel good at first later causes the hangovers next day. makes puffy and dehydrated AT LAST WE ONLY CRAVE FOR WATER NEXT DAY isnt it 😄🤣
yes, its true. i think if you are seeing your life is bad with alcohol, it could be an opportunity to seek the things that will help you feel more fulfilled without alcohol. that's your call, everyone has their own needs but for me it changed my entire life
I feel empowered being in this comment section and watching this video of people talking about their sobriety. Not drinking says something about morality, in my opinion. It's against my beliefs.
i appreciate the messages of this video. the martini poster is a record scratch/head scratch for me like hearing all the reasons for a plant based diet in the parking lot of burgee buns
50cent a perfect example of someone who cares more about money than his own people. He fully recognizes how completely toxic & devastating the drug is so he wisely doesn't consume it. Yet, not having a conscience is the only thing that can make someone only care about himself. Everyone else are just potential money sources. Same with Lil Wayne & everyone else jumping on this bandwagon. Y'all getting rich off the death & deterioration of your own kind. Just because something is legal doesn't make it right,,or ok....
I don’t drink too because i have zéro ability to control my in takes. So I don’t drink at all and my life is still cool I mean i go out like every one else lol
JLo and Kim do drink, unfortunately. Hopefully many kids watch this. B. Cooper has been sober since 2004. Many of these celebs def used to drink. Praise God they don't anymore #CKASGD
I don't drink. Bars sell coffee and many other beverages too. But the many that do and it gets mixed in the middle of the christianity. So to try to explain, what the book say and society today. It's sad that everything is all or nothing. That is the problem. The occasional drink the book says a little wine for the stomach. It has many other scriptures too. The problem is when something takes anyone from God. When people get addicted it is more important than God, or more important than ones life. Trying to explain that is the problem. It is also the example of the people choosing Barnabas and or Christ Jesus. Who made more wine for the wedding, that is not expected to get out of control. Wine for communion. Listening to the guide lines, like a drink with food. Not getting snockered so to speak. Or not destroying ones life for alcohol. Or any substances. There are medical applications in anything but nothing is to take anyone from God. I do not have the words to explain it exactly right so everyone understands it. Or won't get all wound and go drink to get snockered, just because the perception is its OK. Or don't know their limits. In explaining it doesn't mean anyone has to drink. Special occassions or otherwise. Some churches say no drink at all. Some, blah, blah, blah. Perceptions, reality, gossips are a good example in the book of Mathew 11:18-19. And everyone has to know theirselves. Some young people are learning theirselves. Many start out that way. I can have a drink and walk away from it. Clubs etc usually hold a atmosphere where people can get carried away before they know it they are past their self limit. It can be deceiving. Its something people need know for theirselves. I personally don't like being vulnerable. I am the only one that is going to take care of me, in knowing me, limits, in most all places. We have lived in a place I don't know people, etc. I haven't been comfortable in 17 yrs. To get snockered, so to speak. Examples for children. Etc. A vulnerability without attention or knowledge. Of course the same with medications in treatments. Sloppiness. Etc. MS is already often times very sloppy. I call it my cure for germaphobia too. It's isn't cured, that is another anxiety, but its the joke. Not too funny. So headed down the bummer rabbit hole, here, pull up. Everyone is different. Everyone has a story. Nothing has to be all or nothing. I have made purchases for others special events. Etc. Or wine for communion when I thought a church needed wine for communion. Lol. It wasn't the martini rossi aste spumante. That was a event gift. The Communion Wine for the Church was the Reunite, Lambrusco. Everything has limits. Everyone has to learn their limits, theirselves, Or refrain. And everyone should respect refraining too. Some places revenue people's excitement about that supporting jobs. Etc there many parts to anything. Be safe. Know the limits, guide lines or refrain. It doesn't mean go out and get addicted or out of control. Etc. It doesn't mean drink alcohol at all..
@@laurenknighthughes no they don’t at all ( I mean the religious and faithful of them) There is may be a few people that drink from that society when they travel to countries that didn’t ban alcohol but they are very very few but don’t get it wrong muslims travel around the world but they still don’t drink because it’s forbidden
@@turkwelsch the founder???!?!?!?!???!?? The founder bitch!!!!!!! You are clearly under some type of drugs 🤭 arguing with you will be wasting time so I’ll let you die with your ignorance
@@kyhaancraest391 that’s not true. I know many muslims who still drink but mostly with moderation. Like with every religion, you have people everywhere on a scale. Some people are more strict with it and some are less.
@@laurenknighthughes nah there was a interview with I forgot who but he said he never drank ever in his life. Him and 50 cent r very similar in a sense they like to go to clubs (In Floyd’s case he actually owns one idk about 50 tho) but they never drink while there they just pour shots for everybody else and party. They even like to promote and get sponsored by it but only for the sole purpose of making money and not even ever liking or drinking the product at all. Which I find very cool and interesting with myself being a non drinker
Look, Ya don’t have to be an absolutist to make it work. Imostly don’t drink alot cause I feel better being keto/carnivore and I hate hangovers. Eventually have some champagne or beer occationally. But I learned what I need from trying as a youngster, get your own experience and make it work just don’t get stuck in bingedrinking when you got nothing to celebrate.
I was sober 12 years. Slipped and struggled for a little over 3 years - and just had enough. It’s not the right drug for me. Exercise and the prescribed occasional Xanax is how I deal with the anxiety. If I start to drink……it’s off to the races. I can’t drink like a gentleman - so I’m done. I still serve it at my home and can hang out with drinkers, but I just feel SO MUCH better without it !!!!!!!
