I'm a malayali. And I love tamilians for the love they have for their language. I love the sass in their response. Totally agree. I'm not against hindi. I'm against forcing it down our throat. They expect us to speak in hindi and the statement that India has no national language just somehow is undigestable for them. And they say most people know hindi, why dont you use hindi too so we can all understand. Well more number of people understand english why not use it. See, we are not forcing you to learn our language. Why do you expect me to learn yours? As far as common language we already have English which can be used outside india too. And fyi, language with most native speakers is Kannada not hindi. And Tamil is a much more ancient language and older than sanksrit I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) and unlike the dying sanskrit,Tamil is still thriving. More people know hindi cause we've been taught that in our schools. My response to these is exactly what my fellow south Indians said, “ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഭാഷയിൽ പറഞ്ഞാൽ തനിക്ക് വല്ല തേങ്ങയും തിരിയുവോടോ?"

English is our inter state language and not Hindi. North Indians are all over the world and they speak English. Hindi as a national language is just a political jargon.

Most of the South side of India do commutation with thier and other language or atleast we try some basic words in thier comfortable language... But north side of Indians people only commucate with hindi only they don't learn another language For basic words also ... Thats main reason here ... I learnt 3 languages and i know some basic words to communicate with Hindi ppls .. but hindi ppls won't learn others language at all ...

Hindi spread in South was started by Gandhi by dakshin Bharat hindi prachar sabha , it's first president was Gandhi, later jawahrlal nehru and Indira Gandhi were president while they were PM of India, It Congress that spread hindi in South, also it was nehru who given dakshin Bharat hindi prachar sabha same status as IIT.

Please don't depend on politicians to tell you about languages. There are 22 official languages in India but each state has their state language & English as their official language. All the official documentation should be done only in these 2 languages. Now the thing is that Delhi is the Capital City of the India, and that happens to have Hindi and English as the official language. So, in that sense, Hindi and English is the Official language of the Capital city.

Do not denigrate any languages even tribal languages. I heard in the North India there they denigrate the southern languages. They must understand that India is not a single language speaking nation. Putting down one mother tongue is uncivilized. That means they go back to their tribal mentality. Even two infants of different race are able to communicate, so what's the problem here. It's the tribal mentality of so called educated people and mostly politicians who create this problem of having one standard language . Since English is commonly spoken let us use it. If an government official cannot communicate in English in the north especially in airports thats a shame to India having idiots in government service since there are overseas passengers coming in. To the Hindis, do respect other languages and don be arrogant. If your children go overseas your bad karma will follow them. They will be treated as how you treated others in the name of language.

Malayalees and Tamizhans can speak all Indian languages. Can't say about any of the others.

Every language is unique. And important. Should be respected too. But it's impossible to know all Indian languages. Especially if u have a transferable job and to have more opportunities in your career a common language is necessary I feel. I may b wrong but this us my point of view.
