Thanks for a very interesting video. My mother and I knitted 2 vests, ( ie 1 each) using vintage patterns . We used 3 ply 100% baby wool. I now have both since my mother died 10 years ago, and every winter they are in use, and I refer to them as my “ secret weapons” against the cold. If I knit them again, I would shorten them to make them more like a camisole, as I usually wear jeans, and find the longer vests a bit bulky to tuck in, and a little long to leave outside the waistband. Keep toying with the notion of cutting them down using scissors. Maybe I’ll get round to it someday!

Sorry for your loss Nicola. I am sure you still miss her. What a lovely keepsake and memory though to have. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Make you can steek them so you can wear them more often. With snow outside today here they will certainly be cosy.

@@KnittingPatternista - yes I could cut some inches off, and pick up live stitches, and redo the cast on as ,a cast off. Mums had ribbon straps , but mine were knitted in rib about 3/4 “ wide, with a soft lingerie elastic sewn inside. The both work but mine is more comfortable, I think.

My grandmother, who was a Scottish immigrant, believed that everyone should be able to knit their undergarments. So as a 5 year old, she began to teach me to knit. My first projects were socks on DPNs. Today, I couldn't imagine teaching a beginner on DPNs. I wore hand knitted socks most of my life. My grandfather had hand knit thermals. I think I should make me some thermals....

George you had an interesting introduction to knitting if you started on DPNS. Bet you made your grandmother proud with your first pair of socks. Thermals sound like a good idea with price of energy just now.

This was super interesting. I enjoyed the video and the patterns! I don’t currently have the skill to grade up sizes. For that matter, I don’t have the figure for these styles anymore.

Love the 'cami-undies' combo, would definitely knit that__maybe knit them as 2 separate pcs., loosly, in linen. 😺 I REALLY like the shoulder detailing on #8, '1065'! I would just use that on a knit jacket. 💖😺
