I generally don’t gravitate towards anything celebrities endorse. They aren’t skin experts, they are just the name behind the products.
@cshines7359
@cshines7359 3 месяца назад
I evaluate them the same as I would any products (ingredients, effectiveness, reviews, etc.). I would avoid any from someone I really don’t like/trust. But otherwise, I assume they are just the face but aren’t actually formulating. And as it relates to things being a cash grab or not…I think most of the products I buy are from companies trying to make money. So, that alone doesn’t turn me off unless it’s completely outside what I’m willing to pay celebrity brand or not.

I guess if they make good products. If they seem really involved in the products. Rare Beauty, Haus Labs and GXVE seem brands that the celebrities are really involved with.

I really like the products from The Outset, which is a brand that is designed to be as soothing for the skin as possible and to help people who have sensitive skin to get back on track easily when their skin gets irritated from using other products. My understanding from watching interviews is that Scarlett Johansson was highly involved in the formulation of the products, which she needed because she has sensitive skin herself that is constantly getting irritated as a result of having to use various stage makeup for her work. And also, that rather than licensing her name to a big company for a lot of money, she purposely created a very small company that would do things in the way that she thought was right. I bring this all up because I feel like SJ is one of the prime examples that people bring up with regard to criticizing "celebrity brands" - even though the people saying this never have had anything bad to say about the products when they actually have tried them.

A few years ago l used the Paris Hilton Pro DNA skincare line and really loved it. It was rather pricey however, and soon became unavailable in Australia. It may still be available online in the US. All the products except for the cleanser were fragrance free.

That must be what I was remembering, I know she's had tons of fragrances but I remember a skincare line. It looks like it is still around in the US. I almost miss the Paris Hilton days before everyone got obsessed with the Kardashians...

I think that Rihanna's Fenty Beauty (makeup) and Skincare will last for a while, because it has a market with people of colour and plus, Rihanna knows her stuff in very no-frills product marketing in her skincare products. Think, that brand doesn't try to launch multiple versions of the same kind of product such as a serum with different actives or moisturizers with different purposes. J.Lo Beauty though won't probably be around since it is way too gimmicky with that olive oil tagline for the price......

I tend to agree with you about Fenty - it is one of the few celebrity brands I've tried and repurchased from. Enjoy a lot of their goodies!

I don’t buy from them personally because my skin NEEDS consistency, and celeb brands tend to leave the shelves permanently rather quickly in most cases (whether it’s perfume, skincare, or clothing lines). So I look out for things that will likely stick around for decades such as VaniCream.

So. Don’t judge me. This happened when I first got into skincare. I bought Paris Hilton’s skincare 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ I know. It’s embarrassing. The marketing fooled me. I was ignorant to skincare and I thought “well SHE looks great! I should try it”, then proceeded to waste a good chunk of my tax returns on that JUNK. The cleanser was atrocious. Stripped my skin, it might as well have been dish detergent. The cream wasn’t horrible, but did nothing. Just a basic cream moisturizer. The eye cream stung. I’m not telling how much it all cost because I get nauseous when I say it let alone typing it 🤢 😓 oh well. Ya live and learn. But no. I don’t trust “celebrity skincare”. It’s all smoke and mirrors and just for profit nothingness.

The only "celebrity" brand I've tried is Josie Maran. I really like her products, but the price has gone up, so now I will only buy when it's a great deal on QVC. Celebrities, for the most part give me the ick. Hollywood in general, makes my skin crawl. Between the nasty stories of SA, Epstein's Island, Scientology and their blind support of the DNC, I have no regard for any of them. Many blessings!!!💖💖💖

I tend to agree with you about celebrities - there are some great ones and ones who do some great things for charities, etc, but so many of them come off as self- obsessed and arrogant. I really am a big fan of humility and it seems like a lot of them are lacking in it. Josie Maran is getting pricey, it was one of the very first skincare brands that my skin really liked. That being said, I LOVE QVC deals! I need to check there more often.

I've had quite good luck with Jennifer Aniston's haircare brand, which is called Lolavie and sold at Credo. It seems to have a lot of fermented ingredients in it, which I think may be helpful, and it seems to work well for my own mature dry hair (I am about the same as age Jennifer Aniston), and I like the scent (with naturally derived rather than synthetic fragrance). I have found very few people who have ever heard of it and those who have heard of it mostly do not even know that it is Jennifer Aniston's brand though. I also like Honest Beauty a lot, which is Jessica Alba's brand. I would hardly know who she was if she didn't have that brand since I do not usually watch the sorts of movies she is in, though.
