Question about the dining. Am I correct that there are only two dining options that are included and the rest have an up charge? Also are there any options if you wanted a late night snack?

@@kerusso3568 you can do the dine anytime or the exact time slot. There are up charge restaurants as well. Food in the buffet area was beyond amazing. Overall food was excellent and I’m picky.

@@Bradley7708 thanks, I’m sure we will enjoy the main dining and buffet. What about late night snaking. Most ships I’ve been on at least had a late night option like a pizza place, of a hamburger place during afternoons. From what I could tell the buffet was open for like 1.5 hrs. What time did it close for dinner? Thanks

It is a good ship to start out on. Not small but not too big. It is one of the best laid out ships I have been on. Hope you have a fantastic time! :-)

My experience with set dining times is they assign ahead of time, before the cruise. You can go to the Maître d' and ask for a table change. I am not sure how they prioritize the coveted window seats. As for anytime dining, you can always request it when you go to check in for dinner. It is a crap shoot. Great question. I had never been on her before this cruise, so I have no first had experience of what she looked like before, but from what I see from past videos, the outside was painted dark blue (used to be white), cushions in the pool decks changed, some carpeting was changed. I loved this ship.

Yes. Rarely gain weight on cruises, even though we eat crazy. Also we come home with tone leg muscles. It is quite the work out!

So sorry for not responding sooner. To be honest, I am not sure of the kids programs and on our cruise, there were not a lot of children (we generally cruise during school times). However, I can say that as a parent and grandparent, if I had teenagers, I would take them on this ship. I thought this was one of the better ships I have been on. Happy hunting for a good ship for your teens!

On this cruise, we had the drink package because when we booked the cruise the agent signed us up for the "all in" package. We didn't pay for it, but we got it. We used the drink package but we came no where close to drinking enough to make it worth paying for a drink package. When we do want a drink, we buy one. We also find going to happy hour and taking advantage of the 1/2 price drinks is a very good strategy to get to enjoy a drink but not pay the expensive price of the drink package. We don't typically like to drink our calories, so paying for a drink package is not cost effective for us. I hope the helps.

Great questions! It is not always easy to answer that question. I LOVE cruising and can find enjoyment in almost any trip away (I love to travel, period.) However, one might want to consider going on a shorter cruise itinerary for their first cruise to make sure cruising is for them. I am not sure where you are located, but I would pick a port as close to your home as possible (even better if you pick a port you can easily drive to within 5-8 hours). If you live near Florida, Port Canaveral is a nice, smaller cruise port than Fort Lauderdale or Miami , and they do have ships that do short trips to Bahamas (3-5 days, however, I hate short cruises because I am never ready to get off a ship before day 10, haha). I would also consider bigger ships if you tend to be concerned for sea sickness (also along the lines of sea sickness issues, do lower deck and mid ship cabins to get less "rocking and rolling" effects). As for clientele and vibe of the cruise, if you want activity/party/go-go-go vs quiet traditional cruising, you will want to do a ship like Carnival or Royal Caribbean. Holland America is known for their older clientele and laid back traditional cruising. I really loved the Celebrity Cruise because it seemed to have the best of both worlds. Not the over the top party ship like Carnival yet not boring like our last Holland America cruise was. You want to save money for your first cruise (especially since you have nothing to compare it to and can go into it without big expectations) try MSC. They are nice but tend to be less expensive than some of the other lines. I have not done Norwegian or Princess yet, but I would throw my ring to Celebrity right now as being my "favorite" all around ship. 🙂 Probably more than you asked, but oh well... you got it all. Excellent answer by the host. I'd ask the question what do you like to do or see yourself doing on the ship? Do you cruise for the ports and their itinerary? Are you looking for family adventures? Pool activities? Spas? Options like ice-skating or rock climbing? Do you want to dance to different types of music in lounges? Also, the class of ship may matter. This class of ship from Celebrity, the "Solstice" class, has far more lounges than the newer one, the Edge class. Yet the Edge has more restaurants and more state of the art entertainment shows as it is newer. They're quite different. On HAL, the Pinnacle class differs from their older classes. On NCL, the Prima class differs from their Breakaway Plus and Breakaway class and other classes and so on. So, in short, maybe list what you'd like to do and see what line comes closest for your budget, then if you find several ships on the itinerary you want, the cruise line and the class that comes closest may suit you. And the newer one may not always be the one that suits your needs best. Older ships can be fine as well as they are maintained and sometimes refurbished. But it's best to find out when they have been if they've been refurbished. In today's market, I guess older is 10-15 years or more.

I am not vegan, so unfortunately it was not "on my radar" to notice while I was on the cruise. I hope you will find something. Don't hesitate to talk to someone in the dining room/buffet about it. If they can make something work for you, they will do it!
