I met them in the 90s at an event in New York when they worked for Kiss FM. They were so nice. Nick was really friendly and down to earth. I have always loved their music.

Thank you for giving him his flowers. Song writers never get their just due, but they do get PAID $$$ and PAID well. The first time I saw them was at the Essence Festival. They had an album with Maya Angelou. She was reciting poetry while they sang. It was a trip. Him, Verdine White and Edwin Hawkins knew they loved that Black Jesus look. Mr. Nick had that hairstyle until the end of his life, I believe and Verdine still has his today. "Solid" and "Is It Still Good To You' are my joints !!! Teddy Pendergrass TORE UP "Is It Still Good To You" !! "Count Your Blessings" is another favorite of mine also.
That is so cool. When I visit New York I will make sure to get by there to check it out. These 2 were so good together. I gotta disagree about Diana Ross version was better than Marvin and Tammy. Nobody is shocked that Valerie played by ear and was self taught. Most people from the church start early, that’s where I first sang and played the piano. RIP to a talented man. Ms Valerie is such a beautiful and classy lady.

as a kid I sang Reach Out & Touch Somebodys Hand in front of the daycare kids. had no idea Ashford & Simpson wrote it. theyre so iconic. theyve written & produced some of the best songs ever created. I hope Nick is resting peacefully knowing that fact. much love to Ms Valerie ❤❤❤
B4 My attention was directed to their phenomenal hit-songs which they wrote for others, I was enraptured by the sheer vocal prowess of their albums !!!! 🤗 My Mom had a particular one which contained a song: "Found A Cure," Coming from a musically blessed family Myself, This & other songs on the album compelled Me to listen to it more than She did, Valerie on piano & Nick belting out that signature tenor-style voice simply blew Me away!!!!
These two artists were indeed a power couple and demonstrated a great love for each other in the many songs written by them. They always exhibited such an eloquent class whenever performing too. Rest in eternal peace, Nick Ashford! ❤
Another great video! Can’t wait for Valerie’s video. I was getting on a flight in NYC years ago, was walking by the first class folks, looked over and saw Ashford and Simpson. Valerie looked like she was doing a word puzzle book. I was superrrr excited and had to control it lol. I smiled and waved to Nick. He smiled and tapped Valerie. She looked over and waved. I’ll never forget it! Nick was also often spotted just sitting on a park bench by himself in my Connecticut hometown, not far from NYC.

My mom & I went to see them at Wolf Trap in Vienna VA years ago. Maaannnn, that was the best concert I have ever been to!! So much energy and you could really feel the love between them 😍😍😍

I ran into Nick Ashford in Manhattan when I was 15 yr old kid and asked him if he was Peaces and Hurb? He was to me that I made his day and gave me a hug. I'll never forget that moment and how kind he was!
