I've said this before, if Teddy Pendergrass didn't have that terrible accident in 1982, Teddy Pendergrass would've been a force to be reckoned with. The man had it all. The looks, the talent, the demeanor, the aura and the presence. Teddy would've been a billionaire today, if it wasn't for that terrible accident. Hollywood was about to open the doors to Teddy. There'll never be another Teddy Pendergrass or someone close to Teddy in this world at all. Rest in love Teddy Pendergrass. ♥️♥️♥️
Love how you included his manager's murder & the fact that two of the blue notes greatest hits were written for other groups...you did phenomenal research unlike other shows & documentaries like unsung who failed to mention any of this
Jay poet4life They did an interview with the woman who was in the car with him. Remember how the news portrayed him as being with a gay man? Not sorry for that horrible accident - first words "he was with a gay man." She was all woman. Said so herself. She said I don't know how they come up with this stuff!
@@myqueenimagivemydumassopin6841 I'm old school! Whatever people don't like real music or NOT, that's on you! That's your business! Try not to tell me nothing different!!!! That's the truth!!!!
Teddy was the Best of the Best Soul MALE SINGER!! ❤🙏🏻 The VOICE HE HAD JUST GRABBED YOUR SOUL AND HIS CHARISMA WAS VERY SPIRITUAL. So so SAD of all that happened to are Teddy and HE LEFT US SO SO YOUNG!! Thank you Teddy for sharing your Unforgettable Talent you left us and YOUR PRECIOUS BEAUTIFUL VOICE TRULY ONE OF A KIND!! May GOD have you in Heaven 💕👏🏻
Teddy P. carried Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes and after leaving the group and going solo, the blue notes wasn't nothing. If it wasn't for his accident, he would've been a big mega star, even bigger than Marvin Gaye.
@@valenecornelius7928 Had to be jealousy. Black, looking good, fantastic vocals, getting rich, women loving on him, probably a good lover too, basically tall, dark and handsome.
He had the voice the looks and a magnetism that drew people. I understand the jealousy, but don't understand how some could be so cruel to take his life.
Thank you for sharing this story of a truly great singer Teddy Pendergrass. A man of great talent . A beautiful smile and an extremely handsome man. That car accident was terrible. Tragic what happened to him. 😢 RiP Teddy.
I could just cry over what happened to this man. He was my favorite singer of all time. I would have my record player on and fall asleep listening to him. TKO was my favorite. A friend of mine knew him but I did not believe her until she showed me a photo of Teddy together with my friend. He was in that damned wheelchair at the time. I asked her why didn't you tell me you knew him. She replied I didn't know you liked him. Oh brother!
I heard what happend to Taz Lane,. Harold Melvin was rumoured to have Taz Lane murdered. Not Teddy Pendergrass! Because Harold Melvin alledgley said Taz was messing with his money too and he and Shep Gordon (Teddy Pendergrass's former manager after Taz Lane was murdered)was also rumored to have worked with Harold Melvin, to get rid of Taz. Teddy Pendergrass's car crash was also rumored to be no accident! A bio-pic starring singer and actor Tyrese Gibson as Teddy Pendergrass, was supposed to be filming before the Pandemic. But a release date or completion of this film, hasn't been announced. Rest in peace , Ms. Taz Lane!🙏
@@frenchy2047 I hope so because I've searched high and low. And I'm considered young at least to that generation and I would love to learn more about him.
I was born and raised in South Africa Durban,in a home where music was always on the radio,Teddy Pendergrass being one of the international artists that made the list.I didn't know he was involved in two car accidents! I always thought it was just one.Thank you for the video i learnt so much about the man that gave us such wonderful music and his journey too.May he rest in peace.
Great Celebrity Underrated of the Teddy Pendergrass story! I grew up listening to his music and he's one of my favorite singer. I love his music and his music timeless. Keep up the good work and hope you do David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Gerald Levert, Rick James, the cast of the Jeffersons, Dick Clark and many others. Strive for Excellence.
I was watching his concert videos today, he was a legend, his magnetic voice, height, skin tone, smile, sensual moves on stage, ladies screaming on top of their voices, he was captivating on stage. He will always be missed.
A legend and icon lost too soon. Pimp Daddy R&B icon Teddy Pendergrass . Teddy P want all the ladies to Close the Door and bring Joy. Brotha was crushed when he was paralyzed in the 80's. A sad news of a singer. RIP Teddy Pendergrass. Your legacy will live on.
Man I miss being a kid! I was 7, 8 and 9. Dude that man went so hard!!! I loved all of his music. My sister played Teddy and all the great artists non stop.
❤ this great black singer! He was one of the greatest singer in the world 🌍! My late brother went to the Same school and he knew Him. Dr.tyrone Williams of Chester PA
😌😪Damn Bae you did your homework on this one... Yes I have All of Teddy Pendergasts music starting from the 70s and a Truly Huge fan so I can Appreciate the time and detail You put into this Bio-pic Thank You ❤️...Rest Well Dearheart You are Truly Missed ❣️
Your video is pretty spot on! I read Teddy Pendergrass book (Truly Blessed) and he mentioned in the book that Harold Melvin was being really stingy with the money the group made, but Teddy said, at a High society party with many other notable people Harold Melvin slapped him in front of everyone. Teddy said, this was the last straw for him...this is when he left Harold Melvin and the bluenotes in 1976 I believe. He had been with them since 1971. As far as people cutting his brake lines in his whips, Teddy was known for sleeping with other men's wives...that's really playing with fire. 🔥
ReRe T I would imagine that it maybe hard to do one on him as the Womack family has his stuff blocked full circle. Notice how you can’t find anything on him on RU-vid or the internet? His story implicates way too many ppl. I hope someone does an in depth video on Bobby Womack bc his biography was juicy juice!
@@rayman1269 lmao right! Straight savage! Don't forget he cheated on his wife w/her daughter (sam cookes daughter) then his wife married his (bobby) brother 🤦🏾
Teddy had a voice like no other. He also had a way of connecting with everyone "especially women"😂 when he sang. This is how Teddy became every woman's Teddy Bear. One helluva talent. Rip Teddy Bear 🥰
Yes !! No one ever mentions Jackie Wilson. He was the originator. I’ve seen him perform at the Apollo theatre. I was just a kid. The women really loved him. He would lay on the floor and sing. They would kiss 💋 and caress him. No body guards. Can’t do that today. He got up and continued his show. Handsome and very energetic. As a little boy I wished I could be like him. Believe me I was taking notes. LOL 😂 !!!! Also Jackie Wilson and Elvis Presley were very good friends. Most people don’t know that. But if they were to do a documentary on him. It most likely wouldn’t have any impact. I’ll leave it there. But at least I can say I witnessed him on many occasions. Thank you 🙏🏽 Mom !!!! Peace ✌️
Indeed, Teddy was one of my favorite Male vocalists. IMHO one of the most interesting and underrated aspects of TP's singing style is that, as powerful as his voice was he could be surprisingly smooth and delicate with a melody. See tunes like 'Can We Try', 'Love TKO', and 'My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration' for a few examples. Very unfortunate how it all ended. Respect and RIP to TP.
Teddy's gf and manager Tazz Lang (in that photo by herself) has a close resemblance to actress Holly Robinson-Peete...at least I think so. I'm surprised to hear that Whitney and Teddy actually did a song together. I wasn't even aware they knew each other.
This is so so sad on many levels. Poor lil thing just let that fame go to his head in more ways than one. Rest well TP your music legacy will never be 4gotten.❤️❤️❤️🎶😘🎼❤️❤️❤️
Great commentary* T. P. Was definitely a legend a head of most R & B artists times. Envied by peers and loved by fans all over the world. It gave him joy. But caused him.pain. He is missed dearly. Rip. And may his family be blessed to have healed* from the attrocities that's called trama.
teddy is Legend nobody can have that sound he had, he had soooo many great songs, i love Joy , Two hearts , soo many more tunes. Teddy Forever. Algeriafunk
My uncle had the cassette tape of Teddy's. I can't think of the name of it but it's the one with "Love TKO." Every since then I've been a fan. His music is timeless.
The album is TP. They all had his name in it. That was the 5th platinum in a row. A record in those days. Love TKO and the Stephanie Mills stuff on that album
Teddy's music was always playing in my household, from his days with Harold Melvin and the blue notes to his solo career. I have quite a few favorites from this talented extraordinary artist. Sure going to miss him. R.I.H T.P ❤
Very interesting life. I'm learning so much about artist I would never have even heard of. Your videos are great, I feel like I am watching a television show.
