Thank you thank you thank you! I loved that they really got it! I loved that they got to see how really hard it is for us in wheelchairs. We have to deal with these challenges and able bodied people's attitudes on a daily basis. I love that these three people got a chance to experience that, even if it was for just a short period of time. I loved when one of the ladies said that it was very humbling to ask for help and people were in such a rush with their own lives and she was like, it was hard asking for help, so please don't make me feel like crap on top of that. Best part of the video in my opinion.

the challenges, and the way they feel about being in a wheelchair is all too real, i can feel the same about some things. It made me tear, because finally, finally someone gets what it's like to be in a wheelchair.

Definitely needs doing again to see what has and hasn't improved for us wheelchair users only doing it for a week and include things like going to things like football matches

Wheelchair dependence is a struggle a lot of people never really experience themselves, so all these little things most folks take for granted (using the loo, catching a bus) become a myriad of obstacles that inhibit the disabled person's day to day life, and it's so easy to disregard them out of sheer ignorance. This little experiment was quite an eye-opener, and I'm happy it was done.

thank you for putting this on RU-vid so others can see it.... I shared it with my family, its a great idea and it expresses the tip of an iceberg that most people don't think about. Add any illness that causes weakness or pain and your cutting the ability some more. wish we had some thing like this in the USA..... Its wonderful... thanks again

Having been a wheelchair user for 25 years due to an accident. Why is this not being shown as a Television programme for millions to view where it would make more impact and perhaps allow disabled people to be accepted as being included in society and possibly make their life easier and happier anyone can have an accident!

You are meant to get your friend to hail the cab while you hide round the corner. That is the only way to get a cab to stop if you use a wheelchair.

As a disabled person myself.. more often than not you have to ask ppl things.. that for me is no biggy.. I dont mind going on a plane first but hate waiting to go last .. so if the plane is on fire ..apparently im going to die as im not allowed to get off until everyone else is... talk about being a nobody .. I have plan though.. Not easy being disabled however this will make ppl think how hard it can be for us.. thx for this

the waiting is always the worst part of air travel. i once missed a connecting flight because i had to wait for everyone to get off before i could even attempt to catch my next ride...missed it and ended up stuck in houston over night

so without writing a complete novel, I just came across this video and I am so happy to have seen this one reason being it brings awareness two people who are not wheelchair-bound and are able body people. on the other hand it makes me very angry to see that these three went through for 2 days what I go through every single day. this video is 100%the truth in being the fact that the able-bodied public can be so helpful and cruel at the same time. I watched and saw the disgusting looks on some of the people's faces I saw a people get hit with bags I saw people that just did not want to move or give extra space. and the fact that businesses are not accessible to us on four wheels. I'm glad to see that the three stuck it out for the entire 2 days but only a glimpse of what we go through on a daily basis was shown. I believe that they should have not been able to stand up for the entire 2 days. only because being in a wheelchair is a 24 hour experience not just while needing to get somewhere. restrooms were only talked about for a small portion of their two-day experience and I know they had to use the restroom more than just that one time. I just wish more people could experience the same situation that you guys did. maybe that would change people's perception of us down here in wheelchairs. on a daily basis I get people that want to overly help, I get people that act annoyed, I get people that look at me like I'm a bother, I get people looking at me like there's something wrong with me, I get people that act like I'm in their way because I'm taking up more space or am holding up a line or taking too long to get out of my car or taking too long to shop. I don't want people to feel sorry for me I just want people to understand me and the struggle we as wheelchair users deal with everyday. thank you again for the video and I hope these 3 can take their experiences and share them with everyone they know.

I know, Rebecca... we see in/on various media where people are getting these state of the art prostheses, and mobility aids like the super-expensive ultralight chairs, but when I try to find something it's tough luck. Where can I get one of those wheelchair vans? I guess I should have made sure I was rich before I became wheelchair bound. I just two weeks ago, after wheeling and dealing since April, got a prescription for a lightweight adjustable. that I can put in my car. My regular chair is 39 lbs without the footrests; I can barely wrestle it into my back seat. Two door car, won't fit in trunk. I have to put down pillows and get on the ground to push it in, then hoist myself into the car. I either do that, or wait for a shopping cart person to come out so I can ask for an electric cart when I go to the store. I'd like someone to give me an ultralight and a wheelchair van. Peace, Sister!

+Hippiekinkster yeah I've been chair bound for 6 months and I'm still in a horrid heavy chair that has no footplate. I'd love a handi van or a fully hand controlled car! It's so silly that these things are so expensive when they are obviously things we desperately need. Have a lovely day doll!

As a daily wheelchair user and basketball player in my head I was like "you guys it's a hill.....Just PUSH, omfg!! That's not even that steep, it's just a regular friggin hill!" Then the thought of "oh wait, they don't even do this ever other day.....they do this never, lol. It's not easy starting out" Y'all get a mega pass, I've been doing that for five years, you've been going five minutes, it's not your fault 🤗
@robjames8884
@robjames8884 7 лет назад
I thought the same but I also was watching them push and couldn't help but think that the way they were doing it they would soon need reconstruction on their shoulders if someone doesn't show them how to actually push a chair. I cringed a couple times watching this.

I recall a similar programme where a group of celebrities were blindfolded, and had to travel between cities as though they were blind people. I think Wendy Richard was one of them, and she got really emotional when they removed the blindfold at the end of it.

+triple6crip They need to due to muscle wastage
@triple6crip

TheBrookGuitar That's part of being disabled, THEY can always regain the muscle back. Not everyone is so lucky. Like I said, it's cool, but I didn't like that they got to only do it halfway.

triple6crip I'm fine with it. Plus, there are many grades of disability. Not everyone can't use their legs completely.

This is very informative for us normal people. But some paraplegics may feel uncomfortable to see some "celebrities" making fun of their difficulties. (If they're so famous how could they avoid 'hi I'm a fan are you okay why are you in a wheelchair?' ?!) besides, they basically have their lower legs tied up they can still move there hips and thighs. Don't other people notice their movements? Seriously if you want to research the public access just find some real paraplegics. This is more for fun.
@Tat2Dragons
@Tat2Dragons 7 лет назад
Katherine Wu I don't see how any person with a disability watching would assume that they were in anyway making fun of their disabilities. As for people noticing them, I sure people probably did occasionally notice them and say hi to them, but they would have edited those parts out. Also, it doesn't matter if others see their legs move, it's not the point of the challenge. Anyway, there are many other medical conditions/disabilities that would require one to need to use a wheelchair. The purpose of the video is to challenge those who've never used a wheelchair before to get their perspective, as it would certainly be much different than someone who is disabled and uses a wheelchair.

I find this a insult, as a wheelchair user this was not informative, watching c😅elebrities whose faces are known point out obvious things ie stairs, pavements. It just😊 points out Edinburgh is not a disabled friendly city, as I imagine most British cities are the same.
