Excuse me! But Meryl the Satanist fell onto the screen in 1975, "Kramer vs Kramer". Katherine Hepburn's last Movie was "On Golden Pond" in the mid to late 1980's. I would say you need to rethink the math on that one!
Just so you know: you're showing Ashley Judd and claiming it's Rose McGowan. This kind of nullifies your report. It's obvious whoever put this together has no idea what they're doing.
@@declanmcleod9025 so you like channels dedicated to negativity? Maybe you're the one that needs to grow up, stop talking crap online, and visit the real world. HER SUPPORT OF WAR CRIMINAL HILLARY CLINTON OVER BERNIE SANDERS IS WHEN ALL MY RESPECT WAS DONE. AND THEN HER DENIAL ABOUT WEINSTEIN. 🙄 PLEASE KEEP SPEAKING OUT, ROSE. WE LOVE U 👍🏽
streep is just like all the others chasing celebrity. they're pander to whatever the common majority is at that time. ... it's weird to have to outline this in a statement on a youtube comment section... it's so weird to have to just point it out because THIS IS WHAT SHE IS DOING, there's no argument about that. but is this line of how celebrities conduct themselves (with PR) a good thing? Good on those stars that have their own mind, own opinion and speak out.
Sharon Stone is one of the innocent people mentioned in this. People had a hysterical reaction to what she said. There was nothing disrespectful about the comment.
@@FlavioMarceloSousa35 but she is lecturing us on morality. That's why people think she's a joke. I think she's a joke. Shes also a bitch in like, every movie.
I don’t think she is overrated at all!!! I hate what people say about her, it actually makes me very upset because I look up to her and wish I had a mother figure like her!! I’m with you 😭😍❤️
Meryl Streep is a great actress but her 21 Oscar nominations show that Hollywood has a limited amount of meaty roles for women and just like Susan Sarandon has stated the best ones are offered to Meryl Streep first and that has been the case for decades.
Logan M.S.Z Oscar winner, Meryl Streep holds the record for the most nominations in the acting categories, with a total of 21. How does that show limitation?
I really believe that if Merly was actor in the times of classic hollywood actresses she would have far less noms and wins. Its just that there are less competition in this time compared to past.
The part about the 21 noms is actually a very good point. And I don’t mean to take away any of Meryl’s brilliance. As one commenter put it, there just aren’t a lot of great roles for women. It’s interesting that in the 1990s, Julia Roberts became the first female to make the top 10 box office draws in many years (J-Law and Scarlett Johansson May have made the list since). But back in the day, Betty Grable, Doris Day, Shirley Temple and other women were among the top ten box office draws. Now it’s almost always made up of men.
I think it proves that Hollywood is incestuous, a small in-group of insulated, isolated people who sneer at average Americans, Christians and working people.
Why would Kathrine Hepburn be jealous of Meryl Streep? She was a legend. Not everyone who doesn't like Meryl Streep is jealous. That's something you say in high school. That's just my opinion i happen to like Meryl Streep.
@@anthonymccarthy4164 I think that’s Hepburn’s point … there’s a lack of personal touch in the new generation of acting. You try to actually become the role you’re playing, but in the process you lose your personal traits and it’s not always convincing. Actually if you think about it Bette Davis also had highly personalized touches in her roles. She just picked very different roles.
Meryl Streep has a house in Aspen where she spends a few months of the year. According to the locals she only answers to the name of Mrs Green . My friend who is Australian , stays at a ski lodge near Meryl's home. One morning as he walked past he saw her on the balcony drinking a coffee , he said loudly " good morning Mrs Green " & she looked at him and smiled and replied " good morning kind Sir ".
It is bull that Streep didn't know about Wienstein. My spouse has worked in Hollywood circles for years, and everyone knew about him. EVERYONE. For Streep to posture as a champion of women and the Me Too movement was adding insult to injury. She should have remained humbly silent. It is embarrassing to watch her pile on the bull.
I hate it that I watch this shit. I don't feel good about people hating Meryl Streep. She's a fine actress and I actually believe that she didn't know about Harvey Weinstein. I don't think thhat she hangs out in the same circles as the victims but who knows. As for rose McGowan, Whats up with drawing on your eyebrows with a sharpie?
I know right It makes me sad/cry about How Merely feels when people just attach her either because they have opinions or just stupid crap that happened in the past/or mistakes she made I think she's aswome and she made mistakes but that doesn't mean it's nice to hate or criticize her it's just so immature like grow up.
Movies, above everything else are about making money. Streep is a bankable actress - of course producers are going to approach her first. I'm assuming she said no to "Judy". Zellweger? Really?
I can't stand Trump but he never mocked the disabled reporter. That's how he mocks everyone he disagrees with. There's ample proof of him doing the same exact mocking form many able-bodied individuals. Context matters. Truth matters.
Hepburn didn t dislike Glenn close. She actually wrote her a personal later aftar Glenn say to her she felt inspired by her to persue an acting career.
Think again, she's a Satanist, might want to really do your research. Your comment, and I excuse you because you may not know, was really not at all from a person that knows the facts, or a person that wishes not to hear the TRUTH!!
LOL...they're probably just jealous because there aren't too many actresses who have had a long successful career with as many wins and nominations as Meryl, had a successful long term marriage to one person, and raised four kids successfully without a hint of scandal or substance abuse! Meryl has brains i.e. Yale University and has worked her way up, she deserves every success she's had in life so stuff it fellow celebrities that are jealous of her!
I do like her as an actress, but does she really need to be nominated so often for an academy award? Some of her performances did not deserve a nomination, but she received it just because of who she is.
I love Meryl, Susan is ok, but I get her point. There is plenty of great actresses in their age range, a little variety wouldn't hurt. Rose McGowan is a hypocrite, so her criticism doesn't mean much. Trumps? Who cares. Didn't know about Hoffman, but it seems like it's more Meryl who has a problem with him, and for a reason. Bret who? Did he even do anything decent since American Psycho?
I agree with Katherine Hepburn on Meryl Streep's acting. She acts with her head not with her heart I'm not moved by ANYTHING she does and her movies are very Bland but she's not a bad actress.
Yes she does nail it in Sophie's Choice but in the nearly forty years since that film what has she done to equal that performance? Margaret Thatcher doesn't even come close.
timerwolf700 And I honestly thought Viola Davis deserved it. I’m no actress, but it does seem like it would be more difficult to so impressively portray a fictitious character - as Viola did in “The Help” - than it would be to beautifully play a real-life person as did Meryl. Viola really had to look deep within herself to play that role. Meanwhile, Meryl had plenty of video and audio to review, and she could also talk to many people that knew PM Thatcher. Viola was simply superb - in a really good motion picture. Meryl did a great impersonation of Maggie Thatcher - in a really terrible film. Just my opinion - so don’t slam me. Like I said, I’m not an actress.
Merry spat on Raul Julia during her scene with him in Taming of the Shrew. So she should forgive Hoffman. She said something about being free in the process, so should honor that statement. She was free in her process.
He slapped her in the face, why should this be accepted? And he knew she was mourning the loss of her boyfriend after his battle with cancer. He made fun of him; Huffman is nothing but an asshole! If anything he owes Meryl an apology.
Hilary Russell Dustin Hoffman got his taste of his own medicine and a feeling of reckoning, for he's slammed with an accusation that he groped a woman staff during the production of The Death of the Salesman in the early 1980s. For that, he's now blacklisted in Hollywood.
She may be a great actress, but that doesn't necessarily make her a genuinely nice person. She had to have known about Weinstein since almost everyone apparently knew and looked the other way. Even the icon Oprah loved him. These are plastic people. These hypocrites keep silent to further their careers. I have no respect for them and I have boycotted movies for many years. I don't care about their politics because most of them aren't very smart and aren't knowledgeable about government and policies. Truth be know, they are overpaid script readers who pretend all the time. Why should anyone care about what these pretenders have to say?
if you dont have good to say better shut up. you have no right to insult other people. who work hard on his or her craft.. i pity those who insult other people damn it. yes we have the right to speak our opinion not to the point that they are being insulted
She is chosen to more roles ( not withstanding her brilliant acting skills) simply because she looks like any of us ordinary people , something that Sharon pointed out on her comment. Whereas an actress with a more glamorous look would be rather confined to a certain type of a character.
Just to clarify, I cannot stand Meryl Streep. So PLEASE don't generalize about people being excited about any movie she is in. As a matter of fact, I would avoid any movie she was in, just because she was in it.
Alright that's your choice. It has never been Meryl's fault if she keep getting acting offers or win awards. It's not that she asks for all those awards, I don't think she even care about it. She's not perfect, she is just being an ordinary human. I guess you're not perfect yourself. So why hating her for her human flaws? Besides she's nearly 72 years old, she's only acting for fun, instead of money. No matter how much you hate her, you can't deny her talent. Kramer vs Kramer, Sophie's Choice, Death Becomes Her, Bridges of Madison County, The Devil Wears Prada, Doubt, Mamma Mia. Did you watch her performance in Big Little Lies and Little Women? They're excellent too.
Anyone else notice that whoever made this is actually in love with streep? Way to end a "ppl don't like her" video with nothing but blind praise for her.... You would fail at argumentative writing
@@letsjazzitup Yeah, but it's a tabloid channel that implies unbiased reporting in its titles, which is doesn't deliver. And tabloid writing, like all writing, actually IS a form of literature.
I don't equate Hepburn's disdain with jealousy, but I do question her taste. I have enjoyed various performances of Julia Roberts and Melanie Griffith, but to put either of them on par with Streep is ridiculous. They are talented, absolutely, but not in her league. Streep's contemporaries include Sigourney Weaver, Jessica Lange, and Glenn Close, all of whom I consider to rival her in ability and talent.
I agree with Hepburns view on meryl and she just picked on Glen for no reason. Glen Close and Ellen Burstyn or Jessica Lange is better in terms of their movies and range. Especially Glen Close, she could have been perfect the role in devil wears Prada. She was good as cruela de vil but that was a a cartoon character but she would be perfect for a role based on true person like Anna Wintour.
Meryl Streep, unlike Rose McGowan, does not need to say anything to the media. She does not need publicity, good or bad. I do not think Rose McGowan’s career will be damaged or saved by the Me Too. Just as Streep’s talent and range will not diminish from this.
I doubt any other A lister is jealous of her, I’d say they would be happy for her, and Katherine Hepburn was a great fan of Glenn Close, some of this is pure tabloid rubbish sorry
Anyone who is universally beloved and revered as this woman almost seems like she should get her share of criticism whether valid or unjustified otherwise it would be like breaking some major cosmic law.
Think again, she's a Satanist, might want to really do your research. Your comment, and I excuse you because you may not know, was really not at all from a person that knows the facts, or a person that wishes not to hear the TRUTH!!
@@diananascimentofreire1361 No, she was just reflecting the groveling worship that all of Hollywood had for this man because of his money and power. And he ate it up!
She’s highly overrated as an actress. Personally, I think Susan Sarandon, Sally Field, and Jessica Lange are far better actresses from that generation, and I agree with Sarandon that, while still a good actress, Meryl gets Godlike praise. The woman could lay a toxic fart and stifle the room with it, and she’d still get a standing ovation from her smug cronies.
Well, that's your own opinion. The major concensus just states that Meryl Streep, Susan Sarandon and Sally Field are the best actresses of their generation.
What has Susan Sarandon done that is so great? So she was lucky to score a few good roles, roles that certainly other actresses would have done just as good and probably better.
Glenn Close is even more talented than all the actresses mentioned here (who I love, also). If anybody has lost roles to Streep over the years which should have been hers, it's Glenn.
It wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't so PRETENTIOUS IMO. And she does great work no doubt about that but you know there's a lot of other great actresses out there too and she e doesn't need all the awards and let's be real, not all of her work could be considered the best work in movies
That's already been cleared up as false. He has been making that same face since the Rosie O'Donnell feud. It just his wacko expression he always uses.
She did know about Roman Polanski, but it was a different time. She said he didn't belong in jail because he was too brilliant. Brilliant people don't belong in jail.
sarandon is right(actually she didnt say something bad about her it was more about how this job works) you like it or not believe she is jealous or not and except that she is not a robot its normal that some people will and some will not like her do you think she likes everyone? thats all and it doesnt have always to be about jealousy !!!!! please..... shes great that doesnt mean she MUST be loved by everyone!!!!
Sarandon thinks she's actually comparable to Streep. LMFAO what a joke. Watch Thelma and Louise. Geena Davis owns that film. Sarandon is just for the ride.
I like Meryl Streep as an actress and I don't really have a problem with her as a person BUT I did find her speech about Trump extremely pretentious and preachy. I'm not a Trump supporter by any means but a TEN MINUTE SPEECH during an entertainment award show was out of place and even a little inappropriate.
Patrick Kelley I think it was definitely inappropriate. I, for one, hated what Trump said about that disabled reporter. It was maybe the worst thing he's ever said. But you're right she was so preachy. I guess because she's possibly the most respected actress of our day she thinks she has that right to preach at us.
@@kiranolan7104 exactly! I think a lot of these celebs tend to forget that they're in the entertainment industry and end up developing little God complexes or something. I really don't mind celebrities sharing their political and philosophical beliefs but only in the appropriate outlets. Idk... Maybe I'm too uptight haha 😂
Kira Nolan No. it’s about using the moment she had that could’ve been all about herself, and instead taking that opportunity to stand up for human decency and respect for one another. What’s the point of freedom of speech if it can only be used “when appropriate?”
Meryl had nothing to worry about with Weinstein. She’s actually a good and bankable actress. Streep was never about her body....or the couch, she would never ever have to go to a mans hotel room at 10:pm or any other hour.....to clinch a job. She is an excellent mimic, and very fun to watch. I notice it only women here who don’t like her. Soooo 5th grade. Lol
Gross, you’re basically suggesting the women who were assaulted in casting couch scenarios deserved it. Interesting that you’re a man commenting, and that you overlooked Trump’s inclusion on the list. Another man famous for blaming women for his assaults on them.
Michele Huffman wake up. She loves child rapist Roman Polanski and she was a Harvey Weinstein friend and fan. All of Hollywood knew about Weinstein’s sexual deviants and of coarse she knew. Goodness people are thick in the head. Meryl is by the obvious a person who will celebrate violent sexual deviants if it will promote her career.
