Also he is not putting on a sexy persona like so many of the young who are more interested in themselves posing;he's a bit rumpled and real but there is still a frisson as Dame Judy pulls her jacket closer as if to cover her less than 20 year old body's actual shape. It just underlines the truth of so many of her other answers. So very glad I am to see Cleopatra her favourite part in real life. What a marvellous woman she is.
I was thinking about what a beautiful friendship they must have, That was beautiful to watch.. I'm almost 40 and when I talk to my childhood friends I act like a teenager just laughing and giggling like that..
Did you see "Be Cool" when John Travolta says to Uma Thurman, "you'll always be a girl?" Your comment reminds me of this. I had a maternal g-mom who also could do this at the drop of a hat, and it was so charming and lovely when she did!
He was calling her old in disguise. She knew were he was going with the question. Thats why she said "no, do you?" like replying to him "you are old too". I guess is something they joke a lot considering how friends they are. Like Ian with Patrick and their bromance. They are aware of it, and make fun of it. Judi know Ian so well that she can predict the answers or even follow his thought. Its so beautiful to see this type of friendship. Speciall in actors world, that we do not see so often
@@neerod87 The cat's name is Solomon. Daniel has had him for a few years (as far as I know). The last time I saw a photo of the cat, he had both of his eyes. I guess something happened and they had to remove an eye =(
@@fvnt0miix953 Could possibly have been glaucoma, or perhaps cancer. My sister's cat had to have an eye removed because it showed signs of pigment change, which could signify cancer.
I love that Dame Judi exemplifies the women who has aged gracefully. She is honest and true to herself, humble and yet strong. One of the most revered woman in my lifetime. Thank you Dame Judi Dench.
Thanks for all the love and support. I am blown away by the love from you all. I know these are hard times but with love and faith we shall all see the light again 🥰❤️❤️. Love you🤗.
@@judidench2907 I was 15 when I first saw you in a Shakespeare play in Newcastle at the Theatre Royal (may have been Much Ado) I saw Ian Mckellen the same season play Romeo ( opposite Francesca Annis) . I’m 59 now so I’ve been a fan for 44 years. You are adored!!!
There’s something about her... she leaves you waiting for more... something in you wants the conversation to go on... Also, very lovely, the tranquility she conveys... Serenity.
I usually watch RU-vid videos at 1.5 or 1.75x speed. For Dame Judi, I only play it at normal speed... I have to hang on every word and her buttery cadence.
I really love how despite all the success she's had with film, she's talking about theatre for a lot of this video. It really shows that theatre can truly capture your heart and never let go.
She likes Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp... I'm gonna put it out there- Dame Judi Dench is a secret Pirates of the Caribbean fan ___________ EDIT: I TOTALLY forgot she did a cameo in Pirates of the Caribbean and was in Chocolat too! My bad! My comment was based on having a shitty memory lol
Yeah they are very close. Basically their circle consists of as you'd expect theatre folk like Maggie Smith, Patrick Stewart, Derek Jacobi, Michael Gambon etc. I mean to be in a room with all of them just chatting about life and the theatre would be unreal. I met Ian last year on the final stretch of his tour he's very funny and so much energy. He was running all over the place not bad for an 80 year old.
What happens when this extraordinary generation of actors finally is no longer with us? Who is there to replace such elegance and humility and utter talent and skill? What an incredible role model Dame Judi Dench is.
Hmm keanu reeves! Obviously! Arent you aware?? In fact people don't even talk about this generation of actors as highly as they do about keanu reeves. They say threre is no one better than him. You sound like you have been living under a rock.
I worry about this too. Right now I would say: Emma Thompson, Helena Bonham Carter, Julie Walters, Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet etc. If you mean younger than that, Sadie Sink and Saoirse Ronan seem promising.
This is such a lovely format. Calm, loving, and personal. I especially love how there is both respect and familiarity eminating from everyone. It feels like Judi draws out the authentic selves from people she interacts with ❤
Thanks for all the love and support. I am blown away by the love from you all. I know these are hard times but with love and faith we shall all see the light again 🥰❤️❤️. Love you🤗.
That's the typical of us Brits. Many people from outside the country would hear her voice and assume she's up tight and all about class and decorum. People fail to realise that even the most "posh" Brits can still have the cheeky, banter side
Her irresistible appeal is she is real, genuine , appreciative and humble. Besides her talent she possesses playful wit, intelligence and excellent taste in men .. Viva Depp & Dench .
“Alas, he is no longer with us. And I think of him often. And I still have the leather glove...” Only Judi Dench could make me cry in a matter of 30 seconds
But she always talks about Johnny she said he was the hottest costar she's worked with in the Ellen show and he always talks about how much he adores her 😂
So you're gonna give us legendary Dame Judi Dench say she wants dinner with Johnny Depp and not give us a Johnny Depp question for her ????? Vogue c'mooon
I couldn't really begin to say why, but watching that has actually brought me to tears. Although, if I had to try and guess, I'd say it has something to do with the simple beauty of seeing so much kindness, curiosity, respect, and talent come together for a few glorious minutes. It certainly makes for a welcome change from a lot of the 'other' stuff popping up on our computers and TV's today, so many thanks to British Vogue, and of course, to the legendary and very cheeky Queen Dench. So much light pours out of those beautiful, knowing eyes . . . and I for one needed to shower in that light today!
What an absolute joy to watch this. My sadness is I was never able to see her in her theater roles. There are so few actors left with her ability, her drive, and her humility. I love how she is just ever so slightly cheeky. While I'd love to sit and chat with her, I don't think I could be composed enough to be worthy of her conversation. Well done, Dame Judi Dench!
She is so wonderful and I love that mischievous twinkle she gets in her eye. Her reaction to Ian was very sweet. "Oh, please." No, have you!" You can tell what good friends they are.
The great and iconic Dame Judi Dench, not only is she mistress of her craft and her talent admired by all, she always comes across as extremely personable and fun loving when being interviewed. A real star in every sense of the word
Her love for Johnny Depp and his love for her are the most beautiful and inspiring thing in the world. What a blessing to have this kind of mutual admiration!
My grandmother reminds me a lot of Judi. She is so graceful, yet so young at heart, full of joy but also stories and experiences. i wish the comments weren’t filled with cara-related things, giving her the attention she doesn’t deserve.
There is something magical in her personality that is lacking in her contemporaries. The way she smiles, takes pauses, giggles, and gets serious at an instance is just inexplicable. Good Luck to her. I remember her saying, in one of her interviews taken during the promotion of a film, if you have anything else to do than acting, go for it. Today I know why she said that. She wanted to be a designer. This is how life surprises us and pushes us to the realms unknown.
If you haven’t watched Tea with the Dames, do yourself a favor and give it a watch. Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Eileen Atkins, and Joan Plowwright all having tea and dishing with each other.
I wonder if her admiration of Johnny Depp originated when they worked together on Chocolat. It's one of my favorite movies and both of them were purely magical in it.
Kasino80 : it certainly is! I have rewatched that movie several times and enjoy it every time! It is fascinating to be so engrossed in her movies that after watching one, you might forget she was in it for the simple fact that she is her character 100%.
Beautiful lady...so caring and down to earth...you never forget her acting roles. Loved her Johnny Depp encounter...he also spoke highly of their acting together....very nice !!
LOVED Judi's answer of Johnny Depp x 3! I've seen Ms Dench in many films but my favorite role of hers was Jean Hardcastle on As Time Goes By. I loved the chemistry of all the actors on that Britcom, but especially between Jean and Lionel when they had little squabbles, because you knew their love would see them through.
You can tell how much she loves Yan McKellen... she even fidgets with her blazer while talking to him! .... Also very moving is the moment when she chooses Johny Depp for her dinner party
Another proof that Edward is a genius! How is it possible that, with all of Dame Judi’s glory, this is her first time to be on the cover of British Vogue?!?!
This made my heart overwhelmingly full. She has so much grace, beauty, soul, and talent. Also, I love how well spoken she is while still being so hilarious with fiery responses. Thank you Dane Judi Dench, and thank you Vogue; this is brilliant. 💜
I love this, and have just watched it again. Her reaction to Daniel Craig, her old friend Ian McKellen, who makes her giggle, and Orlando Bloom, all make the day worthwhile. The killer for me, though, is the dinner party guest question. Also, when Sam Smith asks her which role she'd like to play, well Tracey Ullman has created that part, Dame Judi herself, dumping dog poo bags, shoplifting etc...well worth a watch in Tracey's show. I'd imagine Dame Judi loves watching that!
This actually had me in tears, I remember first watching Judy along with Maggie and Cher in Tea with Mussolini. Her ability to act in polarising characters is amazing ... Love Love Love.
