For those who don't know, in simple terms, berries are only collected while on still terrain. There are a few frames or so that you can jump though that will make you not collect a berry, which explains the erratic "unnecessary" jumping.
I hate to be the "actually" guy, but berries only collect in "collect berries safe zones" The devs can mark any part of a screen with a "no berry collection" overlay and even on the ground the berry will not collect
@@walkingmarshmallow6895 just use the level editor and you will see how you can flag no berry collecting zones... I don't even know why are you arguing with this which is a known fact in the modding community
@@Nat_the_Chicken The tas does not get the longest possible because it doesn't skip all of the skippable purple orbs, and I believe it collects a few of the early ones for an intentional death as well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O3N1N54G5zQ.html This TAS gets the maximum 42 berries, only collecting at the beginning of each section. Interestingly, that is exactly double the amount obtained in this video.
@@bait5257 Sorry, I didn't get notified of this comment for some reason. UltraLuigi has supplied a link to the Summit TAS section that intentionally gets the longest berry chain: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O3N1N54G5zQ.html
I love how this is just casually played, like Madeline taking a stroll. Most of the time when I see this it's super mega speed speedrunning strats to get everywhere as fast as possible, and this? just a casual walk through the city.. It's much more pleasant, thumbs up.
@@coler4084 they... literally do not say the words "other speedruns" even once. they mentioned speedruns bc usually when they see videos like this, they're done using speedrun strats, and they aren't in this one. reading comprehension, my dude
rare footage of Madeline 1-up farming before the summit. this is actually what she was referencing when she said "This won't take long" at the end of reflection.
Now I want a silly comic based on a mix of this achievement and a deathless run where she comes home followed by a line of over 100 strawberries and then all points go off at once. And everyone wonders how fast is Madeline?
You, sir, are an actual crazy man and I like it. Thank you for provide us with probably the Celeste video I was expecting the least to find on my home page!
Can we just take a moment and appreciate how beautiful the soundtrack is? The video is amasing, and if anything really emphasizes it, but the music itself is so nice. Granted, I've been away from the community for a few months because the hype's died a bit and I got wayyy too emotional with the DLC chapter (aaaa, still makes me sad), so needed some time off. Lovely stuff, truly. Lena Raine/Kuraine one of the best music artists, undeniably
Also this isn't very fast anyway, you clearly haven't seen a real speedrun, it's least 2x faster, Madeline shooting around at hyperspeed constantly while bouncing on surfaces and shit.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how robust the code needs to be to support so many strawberries following Madeline? Each strawberry follows Madeline's path exactly, meaning the game needs to keep a history of where Madeline was on each frame. And since the line gets longer with each strawberry, that means the game doesn't know ahead of time how long each frame needs to be remembered for. It can't make the history infinitely long, because eventually the game would run out of memory. So there *needs* to be a cap on how far back in time it can look---and therefore, how long the line of strawberries can be. This means the devs had to either dynamically increase the history length by several frames each time a new strawberry is collected, or they'd need to just make it big enough to fit every strawberry in the chapter from the start. *But that's not all*. The strawberries follow you between scenes, so the game needed specific code to handle *that* too. The programmers took all of this into account, *just* so they could add this fun little easter egg for collecting multiple strawberries at once. That's what you call commitment!
I believe the simple solution for this is for each strawberry in the line to follow the *next* item in the line, be it Madeline or another strawberry. This would easily reduce the difficulty of keeping track of Madeline by substituting the strawberry's positions instead. There's also a small bit of proof in that, as more strawberries pass through the same area that Madeline passed through, the less complex the line is, and less reflective of the full movements that Madeline did.
theres a limit to the amount of strawberries that can follow the player, its like over 100 or smth like that. any excess will just stay where they were collected and not move. (p.s. you can test this by going into debug and spamming give_golden)
Very cool. Seems actually like a fun way to replay the game (the awful thing would be to unintentionally collect a strawb climbing through a jump-through plateform)
Idk why this got recommended to me again after 2 years but damn, it must've taken you like hundreds of attempts and lots and lots of time to do this perfectly. It's even harder than getting the golden strawberry, you deserve a lot more views than this
A thing here is that You have like 15 frames to press space before even touching the ground so that the Game remembers the space press to execute it the time you reach the ground
@@quackquack-oj1iu because it makes advanced tech more difficult. In fairness it doesn't affect the base game a ton, but getting into modding I had to turn it off and when I did, my speedrunning times got better too.
