Years ago I had 600s. I put a 25 pound bag of lead shot on each and as I recall the focus really tightened up and it was a general improvement. That however was over 40 years ago. heh.

You could try sealing it with a water-based sealant it won't affect any glue, I've used it for dampening cabinets it is a roof repair bitumen substitute buy it from Wickes comes in a grey tin 5 l if you need the name I can go and look for it, it goes hard but with a tacky feel I use it on tweeters as well, good for dampening cabinets good for sealing up any leaks. you could get a paintbrush and dab it in where you need it. is the front baffle separate to the main cabinet then? That can be removed surely. I think patty is a good idea but not sure about when the drivers it leeches oil linseed oil I think blu tac would be a better approach shouldn't do any harm though the party could leave a stain and it will harden and shrink and crack with time blu tac won't do that. If you want to take it to the next level do away with capacitors all together and just use inductors and resistors as the crossover, you could just try this for the mid-range see how you get on What I can hear is a little bit of breakup harshness from the treble around 1 1/2 k if you use an inductor and the resistor bring that down to ground maybe just half a DB might do it somewhere between 1.50k to 1 1/2k
Not an issue with the 300’s as they’re transmission line. Air leaking wouldn’t be so detrimental to the sound.. but I would definitely make sure 300’s aren’t leaking from the HF fave plate.
Hello! I absolutely love my Celestion300 since I brought them from US back in 1995:). Could You please provide info. about what is value of that of Jantzen inductor? I just done the suspensions and upgrading crossover "BTW". Now caps are pretty clear thing to me, not so with the coils... Thank You for very interesting materials, very enjoyable too😉! is it possible to get a set of those custom crossovers for my 100"s or are they truly one-offs. These are the only loudspeakers I own. I've had them for over 30 years. I'm about to settle into my final custom build house. I have a pretty optimal setting and I'm wondering how much tweaking should I do (super-tweeters/cross-overs) or do I just set them, fire them up and enjoy the music - even if it's not as good as it could be. @@dittonworks Appreciate your thoughts.
I have had the Celestion 7s since the 80s. Looking to improve with a stand mount. Looking at Dali 3s, Sonic faber,Elac db62,Focal theva,Heco colon ll,Polk 200, or Q acoustics 50. Want great sound to fill 15' × 18' lower volume, fill the room, and disappear. Any suggestions.
@dittonworks Thanks, I still want to hear the Hecos Celon ll & Focal Theva. & maybe Q 50s. It's not like the days when you could compare. When I bought the Celestions, I was in a room filled with top-notch speakers, and when I heard them, I knew. My first were large Advents, and I took an album to listen to the 901s. The room also had stacked Advents, as soon as I heard the difference, I took my album home and stayed with my speakers. The Celestion were my second & want to move up.
