I've been running these in a 2x12 for sometime, They sound glorious together!. Warm and punchy, not overly bright not too boomy, just a fantastic mid girth. One of my favorite combos so far.

This is the combination that I have and I like it very much. The sensitivities of both these speakers are closely matched so it keeps the dynamics tight. The H 75 has more high end than the Alnico. I think the Alnico is more open and articulate than the H 75 which is a bit more compressed and nasal. The rythymn for the high gain sounds better thru the H75 and the Alnico is warmer, richer and just sings on leads. I think these two pair well and balance each other particularly for cleans and light to medium gain. I am not sure how well they work for high gain. I don’t play high gain stuff. Lastly I am running these in two 1 x 12 setup with the Alnico in a Fender HRD which is a bright amp ( The Alnico helps warm and smooth the HRD) The H 75 is in a Zilla fat baby which I think gives it more low end and helps with the nasal quality.

Every time you guys record the AlNiCo cream there is a top end hiss, almost a rattle like there is a loose nut/washer somewhere or the speaker has a fault..I also have the 16ohm version and don't hear it in mine. Im in Australia otherwise I could've brought mine in to compare. fantasticthank you!
@ZillaCabs
@ZillaCabs 3 года назад
Hi Clint, when we did the comparison videos we kept all the settings the same, the plus side of this is that it helps keep things more uniform but the down side is individual speakers wont always sound as good as they could. As it goes I think the two that came out worst from this method was the alnico cream and the g12-65.

Both are great speakers, the alnico just has that something extra to my ears, a slightly more musical high end particularly with the Strat. But together they were superb.

Yeah, I hear it in this video and out of my own Alnico Cream as well. I have to play with my drives' EQ a bit when using this speaker, since it's a bit more revealing and responsive in the treble frequencies than my other Celestions. If you're strictly a high gain player, something to think about before taking the plunge. If you want a really warm, not bright alnico, the Ruby is on the total opposite end of the spectrum. The Gold can get unmusical in the upper mids, somewhat similar to the Cream, but raspy at a slightly lower frequency range than the Cream. I really love playing high gain stuff through the G12H-75 Creamback, my amps and pedals are easy to dial in with that speaker.
@ZillaCabs
@ZillaCabs 3 года назад
I have to admit in the higher gain recordings here on my laptop speakers I do know what you mean. In the room I've never found it to be an issue. The main problem with these videos is that we set a general EQ setting. Often some speakers will require fair bit of tweaking, and all speakers will need a little poke in either direction. It is almost a thin-ness (is that a word) in the higher frequencies, to me it feels like the presence controls on the Marshall and 5150 just need a little push... The alternative would be us recording the best situation for each speaker but that introduces a load of bias.

the alnico sounds brighter & more detailed but not pokey or shrill. the h75 seems nasally in comparison (only in comparison) love both these speakers but if I were to choose between the two it'd be the alnico hands down

I will be coughing up the extra money to buy an alnico creamback. I've been in a spacey post-rock ambient vibe lately with a hint of ethnic flavors scattered in and out throughout. thanks lock downs...

To be fair the alnico cream beats almost anything I've managed to throw at it. I think one of the only things it doesn't do as well as other speakers is that kind of bite you get from a G12-65, but it still sounds awesome for so many styles.

We used the Diezel Schmidt for the cleans and the Laney VC15 for the slight drive sounds. The silver jubilee was for the heavier riffs with the lead work. Theya re all great amps.. all fun to play.

Mix doesn't sound much different than my 2x12 with the same Creamback G12H and a V30 instead of the Alnico Cream, listening on studio monitors. Not that this comparison isn't helpful and well done. I enjoy every one of your videos.
@andyrichardson9039

Through my cheap in-ear headphones, the G12H sounds orders of magnitude better than the alnico, which has a spitty top end / upper mids that seems completely unrelated to the note you're playing. If I get chance to listen through better gear, I'll update this opinion...
@ZillaCabs

I'd give it a shot through different speakers/headphones, the alnico is usually a pretty smooth sounding speaker ;)

@@ZillaCabs So I'm listening through the laptop speakers now, and I can hear that same frequency in the alnico through them. I'll try it through the monitors when I get chance!
@andyrichardson9039
@andyrichardson9039 3 года назад
Finally had a go through the (affordable) audio interface and (budget) nearfield monitors, and it's still there. I guess that if these sounds were put in a band context, what you might gain from the Cream is a cut through in the frequencies that don't belong to the drums and bass, but on its own, it's not for me, managing to sound both muffled in the very high treble and over-zealous in the high mids. How interesting - I'm normally attracted to anything at the top (price) of the line!
@heythere6983
@heythere6983 2 года назад
Yeah the alnico has a high end fizz pesky ness thing going on in its mid push. Around 2:57 you can hear it. Almost like a constant hiss. You hear it in the distortion back and forth segment . But at that timestamp it’s also there . Since the h75 is warmer it didn’t seem to emphasize that frequency . On the frequency charts it seems the h75 has more of everything , except on the cream you see there is a spike at the end of its frenquency range . The h75 is dipped at that point. The spike on the cream is idk somewhere in the 6k somewhat silibant range? It’s at the very end of its range
