I took a pencil and smeared it over the dovetail slides before tightening the dove tails. Works way better. The graphite acts a lubricant. The second thing I did was to glue a small piece of foam to the bottom of the phone saddle to hold the phone more square to the eyepiece

Thanks for the tips Mike!

I picked up this adapter last week and have tried it out some. It's kind of loose, but if you tighten it it tightens the tension and makes it hard to use. I do like all the adjustments. Thanks for the review.

I had not thought about moving the phone on and off the eyepiece to focus. That's great, thanks.

It gets me every time that you love the baader zoom so much! I just can't see leaving the 100deg's in the case for such a narrow afov... guess I need to try one? I use an xt10 and love just panning around with the 100deg ep's, but I definitely notice the break in flow to swap eyepieces back and forth just to get a larger image scale on things I happen across (random cluster, colorful double, etc). Would def be cool to be able to look around and zoom in effortlessly. I'm hoping when I pull the trigger on a denk/powerswitch it will satisfy that.

Lol, well believe it or not most of the time the 30mm, 25mm, 14mm, 9mm, and 5.5mm ES 100* do live in my eyepiece case. I know, its almost a sin to have so much glass sitting there. And yes I do enjoy the wider FOV. The issue is that even having all that glass on a lot of nights when I don't have more then like 2 hours to observe I always end up taking out my 40mm ES 68* + Baader zoom. Just more convenient! And I have said it before in my videos, but I'll say it again, I have no association at all with Baader as of 2/9/22. I'm fairly sure that they done even know about my channel, I just like the eyepiece. lol

They're all wobbly like that. At least mine was. I had to insert a piece of rubber gasket material under the phone to get it perpendicular to the eyepiece. Disappointing because otherwise it works pretty well.

My X,Y axis can move without touching the knob to screw it, but also when pushing the phone adapter by accident. Is this normal with the adapter? (It’s new)

I don't think so.

I got one of these for Christmas. After struggling with it quite a bit I spent some time with it in daylight yesterday, and realized that it’s defective. It’s not only loose, but as it moves along the z axis, it tilts the phone away from the eyepiece at an angle so it won’t lay flush against it, and the camera won’t focus properly. The frame appears to be warped. I’m going to have to see if I can return it for repair or replacement.

Interesting. Well it seems a few other people have had good luck with them so I think if you can get it replaced you will be happy with the unit.

Same here. The Z-axis is "bent/bowed" and angles away from the perpendicular by about 3 or 4 degrees. I have to return it.

Do you prefer looking through the eye piece, or mobile phone? I wanted to get a binoviewer, but a good one is expensive. Using a mobile phone will relieve eye strain. I'm thing about getting a phone adapter.

Viewing through the eyepiece is much better in most cases.

I was gonna try this tonight, to see if I could get an image of the Orion Nebula, but thought I’d take a look at Sirius first. For some reason, no matter which eye piece I tried (Baader zoom on all settings, or Omegon 21), once in focus, Sirius always has two sharp beams of light coming out horizontally, either side. Same with both eyes. Other stars, including separating the 3 in the middle of Orion Nebula, are all quite sharp. Is this normal for Sirius, or is it a scope problem (It’s a vixen ax103)?

Hey Alan, with a refractor you should not have any light spikes. Have you tried to use a different diagonal? BTW, center of m42 has 4 brighter stars;)

Lol, I bought a Baader zoom ep based on your past videos... and know a Celestron phone adapter. What's next?

Hey buddy, its a great adapter but I keep getting this purple lens flare on my camera lens. Looks horrible and ruins my lunar images with my 150mm Ep. Used it on a 40mm Ep yesterday and it was 10x worse. Any ideas at all? I've adjusted the adapter for better alignment to the camera lens, and even cover with a small to stop stray light!!

Hi, sorry not too much insight without seeing this in person. Sometimes when the eye relief is a bit too long it can cause issues.
